Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. AustraliaSelf check in was painful. The owner did not speak English and hung up on me. Sms to him meant I had to translate everything into Italian before finally gaining access. The room was VERY noisy. Traffic was heavy all night. There were no lights in the bathroom, and the shower was tiny, smaller than that in a caravan. The room is upstairs, so if you have any difficulties negotiating them, probably stay clear.. Breakfast, haha, a tray of packaged croissants (2) and jam tarts (2),dry biscuits, and 2 juice boxes. Nothing fresh.
Surprisingly, clean inside compared to drab exterior. Parking was easy, at the rear of the building.

Czech RepublicIt's fake than Booking offers this hotel as an located at Parma. In reality it's located 5km out of the town. And the only way to reach this hotel without car - is to take a taxi. But it's impossible to find the adress of this hotel at map: cause it has no adress. We were saved by the taxi driver: he just made a call to the owner of the hotel to ask him where the hotel actually is.

NetherlandsThe name on the Booking Confirmation says Albergo Elena 3, but the name on the building is Albergo D&D. There is no street number on the Booking Confirmation. It just says Via Emilia Ovest. After searching for Albergo Elena 3 (and not finding it, as this is a long street), I discovered #224 on a message from the Property. The Property sent me a code for the key box when I booked, but this turned out to be an example code. How was I supposed to know this??? I didn't receive the correct code and the number of the box to open until 22h45 on the day of arrival. I arrived at 23h15. Am I expected to constantly check my email? I tried to call the phone number 3 times, until I finally spoke with the owner who then gave me the correct code. In total, we wasted at least 45 minutes trying to find the building and get to our room.

SloveniaWould have liked more blankets, or maybe warmer blankets. Breakfast didn't have any savoury options at all, just sweet. There were three types of cereal but no milk or yoghurt to eat it with.
Excellent location, in a beautiful old building very close by the highway and only a short drive to the center of Parma. Nice big parking lot. Comfortable rooms. The owner is available by the phone at all times and is very helpful.
