Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGreat location, right in the centre of Palermo. Staff were very friendly. View from balcony at breakfast is the best in the city. Room was very clean. Facilities of the hotel are dated, but it's an old building so to be expected - the vintage elevator was my favourite! All in all great stay!

United States Minor Outlying IslandsThe upstairs restaurant although is very nice gave me a bit of attitude when they saw I was by myself. The first night I went there I didn't get the best table. The excuse they gave me is everything is booked. But after that several small (2ppl) table were empty for over an hour. The food was really good the first night and mediocre the 2nd night.
The hotel reception staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was clean and had a desk and a safety deposit box. What I really loved about the room was my view from the small balcony. It overlooked old Palermo and the mountains in the distance. The ceilings are very high. There's a small elevator that took me to the 5th floor. Bed was comfortable.

United KingdomThe bathroom is quite small but it is an old building so understandable. This is more an observation than a fault. More fruit options for breakfast would be nice.
High ceilings and comfy bed and good air con. It was very hot but the room was cool which made it easy to sleep.

United KingdomThe room was very small and a bit dull. Only 2 hangers in the wardrobe! Where do we unpack? The tiny safe was locked on arrival, a previous occupier having entered the code incorrectly but we didn't bother reception as it wouldn't hold my laptop in any case. No information in the room at all about breakfast times or WiFi. No shaving mirror, poor bathroom lighting ...lots of hot water but a terrible shower in need of repair. The worst issue was thin loose rugs outside our room on the main passageway to the terrace. They would become disturbed and ruffled. My wife tripped over on the rug the evening of our arrival suffering a bloody nose and sprained wrist. This spoiled the first few days of our holiday.
The location was great, not far from the railway station and near to lots of restaurants and night life in the centre of Palermo. The lift up to our room on the 5th floor was quaint. The roof top terrace is amazing with what must be unsurpassed views from any Palermo hotel breakfast table. Breakfast was lovely with nice choice of cake and fruit... and that view! The bed was very comfy and the room was clean.

AustriaOur room was on the third floor and despite the double windows we heard the street noise like if there was no insonorization at all, and all night long. The bed was very old and dirty and the mattress concave.

The Ambasciatori exceed our expectations. The terrace was wonderful. Too bad that the weather didn't allow us to have breakfast outdoors. The staff were professional, kind and very helpful. There was a lot of noise in the corridors and street noise but that is expected given the location of the hotel on a busy street. We would definitely return.

IraqRoom was uncomfortable. Bed mattress very old that my body would sink. AC was difficult to turn on and off due to being old. Bathroom was so small I had to literally shower with my forehead against the wall due to size of shower box. One could not sit straight in toilet seat either because it was too close to bidet (see photo attached).
Location was good, restaurant was good. Clean.

United KingdomThe noise was intolerable from about 7am - there was noise of a tour party (I suspect) leaving and also there was building work in the hotel - drilling, banging etc Also there is one tiny lift that at breakfast time was full of builders and hotel housekeeping staff

ItalyThe front desk ask for your credit card info to be witten down on a paper as a "security" when you check in. Feels insecure. You only recieve 1 key card and you have to leave it in the front desk when you go out. Feels odd and complicated. There is a open restaurant/bar with a magnificent view but apperantly no special treatment for hotel guest. We asked for a drink by 20:30 but could be offered 22:00. Why don't you have a more casual bar for standing guests? I don't need a fancy table for a drink. The breakfast was nothing special. No good tea, no fresh juice and their yoghurt is served in a bowl. Not coming back.
The room was clean!
