Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery good location, Sandra was very good host , kind and honest. Good communication through WhatsApp. Even though the entrance and amount of keys to get in is atrocious, the place is comfortable and clean .

LatviaVery strong smell of laundry detergent (bed linen and towels). In the kitchen there were some things in the fridge and on the table but I could not understand what I can take as some of them were from people from other 2 rooms in that appartment. So I did not take anything. There is an elevator but you can access it only with a key you can get on the 3rd floor (2nd in Italy). If you travel alone you should be able to carry your suitcase up.
Great location (close to train station), wide bed and modern bathroom.

MaltaWhen you go in the block's main front door from the street, the switch to turn on the light is not next to the front door.
Accomodation was nice and very clean and owners were very helpful. The place was very convenient for us since it was close to the train station. The common kitchenette with some drinks and snacks available was an added bonus!

SpainThe entrance to the building is terrifying, absolutely decadent, dirty and neglected. It does not inspire confidence to enter it. Fortunately, the apartment is new and clean.
- Very close to the train station and only a 10 minute walk to the center of town - Small room, but clean and comfortable. - Possibility of having lunch or a meal in the shared dining room.

CanadaDon,t judge a book by its cover. The exterior doesn't look like much but inside it is great. I really appreciated the common room/kitchen. the choices of snacks and drinks was very much appreciated. The location couldn't be better for train and bus connections and the main tourist area was a pleasant walk from the room.

United KingdomVery close to the train and bus station. We were met by the host on arrival who was so incredibly lovely. She gave us loads of advice on where to go and what to do during our visit. The room was perfect for what we needed and the communal facilities were really well equipped. Everything was clean and very modern.

United StatesThe entrance to the building was kind of scary. At first, I thought we were in a horror movie and Jason or Freddy Krueger were going to come through one of the lobby doors. It was an old historic building. The facade was nice but the lobby was not welcoming at all. Pretty scary! The fact that you needed 5 keys to enter the building/apartment was not inviting. Once we entered the apartment, we felt safe. The bedroom just needs some minor touch ups. The bedroom was clean, except for the floors. They were very dusty and the bed could use some new and more comfortable pillows. The bathroom towels were clean but didn't smell fresh, nor were they soft.
The apartment was very nice, clean and bright. The Continental breakfast was good as well as the coffee ☕ Sara, the host was very nice 🙂

United KingdomThis is NOT a Hotel nor, arguably, should it be described as a Guest House. ‘Guest House’ suggests there is a Host and usually a Reception Desk, but in reality, and for all impractical purposes, this is an Air BnB comprising of three en-suite rooms situated on the second floor of an old and quite run-down residential apartment building that (WARNING !) cannot be accessed without a mobile phone. I would say this establishment is NOT suitable for elderly, physically infirm/unfit people who do not possess and/or cannot proficiently use a mobile phone. Unlike those who ‘Reveiwed’ this ‘Guest House’ favourably, there was no one to greet us upon arrival, nor at any other time. In fact, the ONLY contact we had with the reportedly wonderful Landlady (Sandra) extended to phone message exchanges via WhatsApp informing us how to access the apartment, the location of the breakfast snacks and where to leave the €8.00 local tax payment on departure. Accessing the building via the main door from the street was achieved by dialling the (free) phone number shown on the wall outside, which automatically activates the door releases. Once inside, one must climb two exhausting floors of old stone stairs in order to obtain a bunch of keys from a number-coded lock-box secured to the outer doors of the apartment complex. The other of us remained downstairs guarding the luggage. (Note that the lift cannot be used without using one of the keys on the aforementioned bunch). Reunited on the ground floor, we then took our luggage upstairs in the small lift. Inside the apartment complex, our room (#3) was clean and refurbished in a modern style. It had a well appointed but VERY cramped bathroom which was not easily accessed via a sliding door situated very close to the foot of an angular metal-framed bed that delighted in stubbing toes.
Very well located for the Train Station. We also enjoyed the warm welcome of the basic but clean and inexpensive cafe/bar at the top of the street. €3.50 for a very good Aperol Spritz has to be the best value in Trieste.
