Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaI had to point this out. The only slack was that I have trouble in contacting the staff. Twice! since it’s B&B, there’s no reception (which is understandable), yet i couldn’t reach out to any of the staff when i want to check in and pick my luggage. Both times I had to rely on the kindness of local neighbours who thankfully able to contact them. This is so inconvenient

CanadaWe booked 4 nights, when we arrived we were greated by 2 individuals who couldn't speak english and told we had to move to another location for 2 nights. They said, folliow us(via google translator) and tgen when we did, they couldnt find the new location, leaving us dragging our luggage from place to place. Eventually they found the alternate location but no one was there to receive us. Waited an hour on street until someone came to let us in. When finally settled, asked to just stay at new location the whole time, B&B Xenia said "no, you have to move back". When we returned we did not even receive the balcony room we paid for. Owner never communicated with us in person. There were multiple unhappy people moved to other locations during our stay as well. Communication was very poor. The owner was well aware that being Canadian, we would not have cell phone coverage while travelling, only once we were connected to wifi at our accomodation. We had contacted owner mutiple times before leaving Canada to confirm our reservation and explained this and were assured all was good, which was not the case. I would NOT recommend this location.
Breakfast was good.

SlovakiaWe didn't get the room we reserved, without any explanation at the beginning. No information was provided on how it works there. The girl who receives guests could at least learn the basics of English and maybe try to at least smile sometimes. The first breakfast was only minimal leftovers, which is nothing compared to when we arrived first the next day. The worst of all was the noise, which always started at -+-6.30, when breakfast was being prepared. We didn't sleep at all, so we were happy to move on after 2 nights🙏
The accommodation was OK, clean, a little further from the center, but longer walks were nice🙂

ArgentinaThe entrance to the B&B. Nobody was there, I called the phone number that was on our reservation . They told me that I have to wait at the front door until a person call me back. We waited at the front door for more than a half hour. Till that person call me and open the front door. I think that they have to explain the system of entrance beforehand.
The breakfast was excellent and the girl who was in charge of it was very nice and help us with the information we needed.

FranceSadly, a huge issue was the noise. From inside the building, from outside, late at night, early in the morning, during the day : music from the TV in the common room, loud talks in the corridor, slamming doors, construction work outside, machines in the street. It has just been impossible to have at least one night of correct sleep. Downtown Palermo may not be the best place if you are looking for a quiet night.
The location is perfect to visit Palermo. It is easy to walk directly to the main streets and it just takes a few minutes to join several interesting touristic places. It is also close from the train station. The staff is sympathetic. Breakfast is good and the B&B is clean.

GermanyBad organisation and terribly loud in the mornings. We confirmed our arrival between 14.00 ans 15.00, check-in was from 15.00. We arrived at 14.45 and there was no one to open the door. We waited for 10 minutes, then I had to call the hostel number and the person guided is in poor English through the whole check-in on the phone. The call took 10 minutes and was not free for me and connection was bad. We sent a special request for a quiet room, further from the kitchen, as many reviews said that it was very loud next to the kitchen. They confirmed my request. Upon arrival we got a room just next to the kitchen and the person who helped us with check-in had no clue about our request. He offered another room in a different building for a surcharge, we were not OK with it. He also promised to ask the stuff not to be too loud - that did’t help. It was EXTREMELY loud in the mornings. I got practically no sleep after 5 at all. First the noise started outside in the street, at 7 the hostel stuff started preparing breakfast. They spoke very loudly, practically shouted with each other. And also played the music loudly. Our door and walls were not sound-proof at all, it felt like the whole breakfast preparation was happening in our room directly. The stuff at breakfast spoke no English.
Location is very central, the stuff at breakfast are friendly, breakfast was also good for a B&B

BelgiumCommunication was very poor. Slow response or even none. Room is practically located in the kitchen, where there is no insulation so you hear everything. The light stayed on all night in the hallway so the room was constantly lit during the night. At check out we were charged €3 per person per night, while on booking it is mentioned that the tourist tax is €2 per night. There was no discussion about this. Excuse that the boss would get angry if we only paid €2 per night and that booking just didn't adjust it, afterwards it turned out she was the boss.
The B&B was centrally located. Breakfast was plentiful. Early check-in was possible (arrived unexpectedly as messages were not responded to).

PolandThere was a bad smell in the bathroom (probably it came out from the toilet or the shower).
The bed was comfortable, the place located in the center. There was a fully equipped kitchen. The staff was very helpful and kind, especially Ramona 😊

GermanyThis B&B… I don’t know where to start. We had to change the hotel for 1 night (saturday) because they had „hydraulic issues”, even though they sold rooms on booking.com for this day for the same price I payed for 3 nights. On the next day (during weekend) the mysterious problem was solved and as we arrived, we had to pay more tax than initially communicated - it should be 12€ for the whole stay and we had to pay 8€ for the first night in the other hotel and then 12€ after check-in in Xenia. The personal lied to us, that the tax is 3€ and not 2€ per night 🤯 We also saw the luggage from all the guests, who slept the day before in this B&B, despite the technical problems. No one speaks english here, the breakfast was terrible - with old smelly ham, 3 half-toasts and 2 croissants. You can’t sleep longer than til 7 o’clock because of the noise coming from the kitchen, which is in the immediate vincinity of the rooms. We don’t like to be fooled and we won’t recommend anyone to stay at this place.

AustraliaThe host charged us extra to check in after 8 pm on booking . But when we arrived at the property at 9.30 at night after a long flight he didn’t answer the phone. We were left outside wondering what to do. We had to call Booking.com in Australia and tell them of our situation. They contacted the host who then finally opened the door. He was rude to us and shouted instructions over the phone without even apologising. He never came to meet us.Bad bad experience.
It was close to the centre of Palermo and inexpensive

RomaniaThe worst booking experience we ever had. We didn’t want to do the self checkin because we didn’t feel comfortable uploading our id and passport photos on an app or website, so we wanted to do the check in in person at the property. After the arranged arrival hour there was nobody waiting for us there and the lady on the phone asked me again to send us the id pictures or we don’t get in. I asked for someone to come over to check our IDs and when the owner arrived she insisted that if we want the room, she take pictures of our passport and id with her own phone. Her English is very poor and made communication hard. No picture, no key. When we got into the lobby, near the computer there were many copies of ids laying around for anyone to take. The owner lady is very loud and noisy, especially in the morning. Walls are thin. The room ceiling is very low and you can’t stay straight without hitting your head. The room is quite dark. The breakfast room has only one table for 4 people to share it.
The room was clean, breakfast was good and the guy serving us was very nice and he made us feel welcomed.
