Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe B&B is in a wonderful location, situated in the mountains near Varenna. The tranquility of the surroundings and the exceptional care provided by the owners, Alessandro and his wife, exceeded our expectations. We received a warm welcome with a glass of wine and a good explanation about the area and the B&B. The breakfast is well prepared and a perfect way to start the day. We enjoyed everything!

United KingdomOnly down side is how tricky it can be to get to the B&B, I would just suggest familiarising yourself with bus times and/or pre booking taxi’s.
Lovely property, the decoration is really sweet with a lot of character. The host is great, he was brilliant at helping us arrange transportation and even woke up early to give us breakfast on the day we checked out as we had an early train. Gorgeous view of Varenna from the church just down the road.

United KingdomThe only complaint for the B&B is the WiFi was not amazing in our room - we stayed in the room just up the first set of stairs in the way in. The WiFi only worked by the steps in our room, not in our beds. This was, actually, quite nice at times as it gave the trip a feeling of authenticity - but if you want to watch films in bed, plan ahead! The journey getting to the B&B is also quite difficult if doing it by public transport, as you are in the hills and as such have to take a suitcase on to a pretty small bus. However, it is absolutely worth doing.
Alessandro, our host for the three day stay, was an absolute delight. As were Olivia, the family dog, and his wife and children. We felt very welcomed into their B&B, the breakfast was lovely and gave us a taste of their home life. It was a stand out on a 25 day trip, how welcome we felt in the B&B. One of the experiences I will always remember is being invited for drinks by Alessandro in his wine cellar one evening, along with a Swedish guest staying with his wife, and a German motorcyclist travelling through the hills on his own. Speaking to people about their experiences and being given this sense of community was lovely, and I will always remember my time in Alessandro's B&B very fondly. The room was of great comfort, the beds were lovely and very private. The temperature was kept reasonable, and we slept well each night. The location is, perhaps, the biggest selling point. Up in Perledo you escape from a lot of the hustle of the towns lakeside, and get an even more panoramic view of the region. The view from just outside the B&B of the lake is the best view I saw of the lake all trip, no matter where else I went. It is a truly truly stunning place to stay. I would like to thank Alessandro - I loved staying at your B&B and only hope we get the chance to visit your wonderful part of the country again. Many blessings.

United KingdomNothing, however you need to be prepared to manage logistics from Varenna either by local bus or free evening bus. Alessandro gave us some local taxis numbers which you can what’s app. We managed to get Uber to work which offered very competitive rates.
The owner Alessandro and his wife (and girls) were excellent hosts. Making us most welcome with an arrival drink and giving us plenty information about the property and area. The property is secluded (600m above Varenna) in an old village that offers spectacular views from the old Church along with a lovely restaurant 100m walk from B&B.

IsraelIt is really a wonderful place in the mountains above the Lake Komo! The owners of B&B C'era Una Volta Alexandro and Reulia are very attentive, kind and friendly people! With great English and a lot of useful information and advices! Every corner of the house and the garden are carefully decorated with original antique and very authentic details. Large and satisfying breakfast ! Big rooms with separated arias : hallway, bedroom and very big bathroom with toilet, bidet and shower. The free and large parking place is just 100meters from the hotel. The great observation deck with wonderful lake view near the church in50 meters from the hotel.I realy recomend to stay at C'era una Volta for relaxation and pleasures!
