Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaThe hotel is located around the main street and at a Friday night I could clearly hear people on the street screaming and singing at 1am so that disturbed my sleep but I know it was nothing to do with the hotel.
The room was spacious with easy self check-in method and responsive manager to answer my questions.

United KingdomAs mentioned in the 'what did you like' comment.
Great stay. The location is excellent, close to everything, and the rooms are spacious with comfy beds and a good-sized bathroom. Just a heads-up: there are quite a few steps to get to the reception, so it might be tricky if you have heavy suitcases. Parking can be a bit of an issue; we found it best to use private parking despite the €40 daily cost, as free parking is just as far but comes with a higher risk of damage from other drivers. Overall, a good choice for a stay in Siena!

NetherlandsI received quite a lot of email from the agency managing the property.
Great location, close to the Dome and the Santa Maria della Scala museum, which hosts an interesting archeological exhibition. Very spacious room, spotlessly clean. It included a generous breakfast at a cafè nearby. The check-in/out were via key codes, which went smooth.

United StatesThis is a wonderful hotel centrally located in Siena. The rooms are well designed with ample plugs and storage spaces and the whole facility is spotless. This is by far the cleanest hotel we’ve stayed at in a while. The staff is also super helpful and held our luggage when we arrived and after departure. Highly recommend this hotel!

United KingdomNo fault of the accommodation, however the rooms at the front of the building were disturbed late at night very easily by people/cars going past the building. Wifi was very poor and kept failing connection.
Good size room, lots of space. Proper hot water, not just lukewarm. Excellent location to the old town, cathedral and main plaza. Online self check-in with very clear instructions. Tea and coffee in the room. Comfortable memory foam mattress and pillows.

BrazilElevator What's not so good is that there's no elevator, which makes it hard to carry your luggage, even though it's just a few steps. Air conditioning and window Also, maybe due to the season, the air conditioning wasn't working, and the receptionist gave me a fan, which helped a bit, but we still felt really hot. We couldn't leave the window open because some pigeons would show up, and we were a bit afraid they might come inside.
The location is wonderful, you can walk everywhere. You can even go shopping, drop off your bags, and keep walking. I don't have enough words to describe the location. The accommodation is okay; I stayed in a room with three other people. The staff is amazing, very attentive and friendly. If you're driving, just use the app, and it will work perfectly. There is no parking, but the staff guided us, and we followed their instructions.

DenmarkThe parking situation was quite challenging for a newcomer to Siena. There was no toilet paper holder🤷🏻♀️. Too many smokers stand in the entryway, so you cannot avoid being around the stink. Lastly, the hot water… I cannot imagine how much water is wasted waiting for the hot to come. I waited not once, but twice, for hot water for well over a minute. That’s crazy!
The location was very good, close to many things. The staff were also very helpful.

AustraliaThe noise.
It’s a lovely apartment right in the heart of Siena, located within the ZTL but close to parking just outside this zone. As it’s the on the main “road” trough the historical section, it can be very noisy at night. The owners have done their best to block the noise, but if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Other than that it’s excellent accomodation.

United StatesJust beware that the hotel reception is on the first floor (2nd floor for USA). You will have to go up 28-30 steps w luggage.
Excellent location. Very clean and modern. The AC cools ok. We took a taxi from the train station, best decision ever. Otherwise, you will be dragging suitcases uphill on cobblestones.

CanadaThe only thing I would say is that I was in room 31 and it was very very obvious when the office staff were at work. I figured out that if the air conditioner was on in the room it would drown out their voices a bit, so I strategically turned down the temperature overnight so I would not wake up from them in the morning.
This place was so incredible. It had air conditioning that you could control from your room. The bathroom was nice and large. The room had lots of room aside from the bed, which I very much appreciate. It was also so close to the centre of the city, while still being on a relatively quiet part of the street.
