Location extraordinary, in the middle of Matera Sassi! Haven't experienced anything like that before

Lovely setting right in old Matera, very nice room, sumptuous buffet breakfast, nice cubby with a table and chair (and a view). Staff very helpful. Great way to experience Matera, we would return to the Hotel Sassi.

The location was amazing and the views from the room and shared courtyard were nothing I’ve ever seen. Plenty of stairs around the city but very walkable and filled with history.

there was no teakettle inside the room

properties in the middle of the old town so you can just walk out and start sightseeing. The room we stayed in was really nice , very authentic and still warm.

I loved everything about this place, from the location to the 24-hr receptio desk, the courteous, helpful and highly professional staff, the cosy old-fashioned decor in my room, the stunning panoramic view of the old city surmounted by the cathedral, the equally fabulous dining terrace and exposed stone dining room behind it, the lavish breakfast spread included in the very reasonable out-of-season price,, the wi-fi in every room, the heating, the firm comfortable bed, the cleverly compact bathroom with the great shower... But that's enough about me. Now YOU go experience it!

The stairs were very hard for my mother

It's a beautiful hotel, just not very accessible if you are not very mobile. My mother cannot do stairs and there were lots of stairs, the staff did their best to accommodate my mother. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff did their best to accommodate my mother.

It would help more marks to get to the hotel, because the GPS doesn’t detect you have to go up and down several times for the hotel street

The hotel is about 300m from public parking. My window looks like landscape picture of Sassi. Fantastic panoramic view of town in the afternoon from hotel side.

That breakfast was finished before the time was over and the staff started to collect them 15 min before the time which we found not friendly nor professional for a hotel with that rate!

Location was great. For breakfast they had good options but when they are finished they were not refilled after 9:30 and at 9:45 the staff started collecting the breakfast while the time was until10!

Location was incredible, the layout superb. We loved the quiet and the views, a beautiful experience. Breakfast was amazing too.

The bar doesn't work after 9-10 pm, so if you are planning on a relaxing evening on the shared terrace of the hotel after your long day of walking, don't hope to get refreshments, drinks, or other. The room was okay, however, it was not very clean and it is also not on the main pictures (we hoped to get one of the rooms from the pictures, but ours was not included there). We noticed some stains on the sheets and covers, there was also dust around the bed and in the corners of the room. The bathroom also had some stains on the ground and sink. However, we are not very picky and that did not made our stay unpleasant, we still had a great time and the hotel is great for a short stay.

The location is great. Right in the heart of the Sassi region. We had a great view overlooking Matera. Breakfast was good, although it was the same for the whole stay. The staff was friendly.

It is such a unique hotel, on different levels with cave rooms or rooms with a view of the Sassi. We had the latter and it was amazing. There is a restaurant/bar available to guests and a sitting area by the check-in office which is a lovely area to gather with a view of the Sassi.

Absolutely amazing place, if you need to stay in Matera you should waste time looking for something else, just come to the Hotel Sassi, what a terrific place
