How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Stairs were steep. Rooms were small and difficult to have room to open suitcases

While the location is great for siteseeing, it’s so crowded and filled with tourists.

Breakfast buffet was excellent. The key is the hotel’s location at the top of the Spanish steps, minutes to the metro, minutes to beautiful parks and down the steps to the restaurant district.

Everything was perfect! The hotel gave us the feeling of locals and not tourists, in a good sense. We felt like home, what an amazing and not easy to find experience. We have stayed here before and really liked our room and the breakfast room. This was our second stay and they upgraded us to a suite. We didn’t ask for an upgrade so it was all the more surprising and special. The room was amazing!!! I love the location of this hotel. Right at the top of the Spanish Steps.

I booked this room because there were 4 of us: me, my partner and my elderly mother and her sister. I could be wrong but I believe it indicated '2 interconnected bedrooms'. The second bedroom was not really a bedroom at all and definitely not a setup that allowed four adults to be comfortable. The 2nd 'room' was not much more than two beds set up in a very small space just inside the door and absolutely zero privacy. Much more appropriate for 2 adults and two children... not 4 adults. I had to scramble to find a different place for my mother. Other than that, everything was just fine and I would stay here again.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was outstanding. The location could not have been better. A Taxi stand was directly outside the door! Located right at the Top of the Spanish steps and several great restaurants just outside the door. The room was quiet with a comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom.

There’s no real lobby per se, and though it is fresh, breakfast is just okay. This is overcome by a beautiful breakfast space and excellent and attentive staff.
Location is perfect and it is fantastically clean and comfortable

Our room was at the bottom of the Spanish stairs….the main hotel and breakfast was up the stairs every morning. It was a lot first thing to huff up those stairs. I would have liked to know this before we stayed and got breakfast included.
The area…the room was comfortable. Staff was wonderful

Nothing we didn't like although breakfast could have had a little more choice of savory options. Overall a great experience and would definitely stay here again.
Great location, really nice room (we have the family room), with a view over the city. The beds were very comfortable indeed. The staff were very helpful from booking right through to departure.

The hotel is old,very traditional and quirky. We had a lovely room overlooking on to Vatican City. The hotel is right at the top of the Spanish Steps. Beautiful location close to lots of shops and restaurants. Little extras would have made it excellent. Paper cups for your tea/ coffee but no milk? But over all a lovely hotel.

This hotel has rooms in another building @ the bottom of the Spanish steps. This is where our room was, it was lovely, but to go to the breakfast you had to hike up all those steps in the am…it was not convenient. Everything else was great!
