We stayed at the property for a couple of nights. It was a complex of structures transformed in a luxury hotel and spa. The reception was an old 14th century cave church. A lot of things to see around and plenty more to do. The staff at the hotel is amazing, taking great care of guests. Breakfast is was very good with plenty of options to chose from. The area in front of the rooms is a perfect place to enjoy coffee or breakfast if weather allows it.

There was nothing we didn’t like about this property, it was amazing!

The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The property was an amazing cave hotel and absolutely beautiful. The location was perfect in the Sasse area and close to all the sites, and the breakfast was delicious.

To my personal taste, the bed was too firm. Space for our toiletries was very limited.

The staff really made this stay a great one. They were very eager to please and were always helpful, helping us with restaurant reservations for just one example. Breakfast options were quite good. The location in the Sassi was convenient to a couple of the major piazze and not too much of a hike from the parking we found in the modern city above. All in all, we highly recommend this hotel.

We loved it all. Matera is a beautiful city to explore. Some people may have difficulty getting their luggage up the stairs to the hotel, but these 4 old ladies managed! We’ll worthwhile.

The uniqueness of staying in a cave, wow! Thymus was beyond our expectations. The loft bedroom, 2 bathrooms, the spa pool in our lower level and just absolutely beautiful. Our breakfast was quite a spread. They arranged parking outside the city in a secure garage. That worked out quite well, only a 15 minute drive in and picked us up and took us back.

Our stay at Thymus was beyond expectations - beautiful property, very well curated and maintained, our room was lovely, and above all we greatly appreciated the hospitality! The breakfast included a lot of local delicacies. We received some amazing recommendations for food and places to visit. The team was prompt with everything and always more than willing to help. Will definitely visit again!!

I was very looking forward to spend the night at a cave room but our room was just a normal tiny room. Maybe because we were only 2 guests and the larger rooms are much more exciting.

This city is a must see! Our room was clean and nice. Hosts were friendly and breakfast was wonderful!

It was one of the best places we ever stayed at after a lot of international travel. There was nothing we did not like.

The choice of food was excellent. The quality of food was very good The staff and owner were outstanding. So helpful and generous. They helped take our bags when leaving to the taxi and waved us off. They were so friendly and it felt like family. Our location was in the best position of all.

Nothing really. Just good to know that if you choose the parking+transfer you park 10+ mins outside of Matera and get a transfer to the hotel. No problem though, overall stay was great!

Everything was just fine.

Position of the room was great with great view, so every morning we had breakfast in front of the room with the amazing view over the Sassi. Room was good equiped and everything was clean and nice. Personel was very polite and they made our stay even more plasent.
