CanadaRiu hotels are great! Next time I will stay at the Riu Montego Bay not the Riu Reggae. They do not have enough staff to fulfill the needs of the guests. It took 4 hours to get towels to the 2nd floor. Our in-room thermostat was not working so the room was freezing, it took hrs to get someone to come after we called. Front desk staff seemed overwhelmed with complaints from other guests. It wasn't as clean as other all-inclusive hotels, there is no beach, only sand and pools. During the day, not much was going on compared to the Riu Montego Bay. There were some great staff who really tried to make our stay enjoyable, but it was obvious they were over-worked. I love Jamaica, but RIU Reggae needs to create a better customer experience for their guests if they are going to compete in the All-inclusive, luxury hotel market in Montego Bay.
Riu hotels are great! Next time I will stay at the Riu Montego Bay not the Riu Reggae.

United States1. Loud music coming from both sides while sitting on the beach. 2. Limited beach space 3. Limited dinner options. While there were several reservation only places they were only open certain days and we couldn’t get reservations a few times. The menu items were also limited and too many buffets rather than served meals (even in the dinner restaurants. 4. Limited alcohol options, especially beer (Red Stripe was the only option). Wine by the glass options very limited. As the only white wine drinker in our group, it wasn’t cost effective to buy a bottle for one drink at dinner and a terrible Sauvignon Blanc was the only by the glass option (they did have a Chardonnay one night of the 8 we were there which was a little better. )
The staff went above and beyond. They were welcoming, friendly and for the most part appeared to like their job. Room was very quiet at night.

United KingdomUnfortunately the service wasn't quite what you expect from a 5 star resort. The resort had an ongoing towel issue which is really disappointing but the problem is how it was handled. We were going snorkeling and went to pick up pool towels and they didn't have any. They couldn't tell us how long the issue would go on for so had to go without. Advice was that we should buy some towels which considering how much you pay is ridiculous. The worst part was due to this issue we didn't have any room towels either. We couldn't shower and waited for about 3 hours after a long day out. In the end we had to use our own clothes as towels due and hoping we would have them the next morning. We still had no towels the next day so we went 24hours with no towels to shower or floor towels which is quite dangerous stepping on wet tiles in the bathroom. Reception couldn't help and kept saying they didn't know how long the problem would last for. So in the end New Years eve was celebrated with unwashed hair. It's not that hard, Communication is key to your customers. Just like you left a slip asking us to check out on time, you should have done the same telling people we've got a towel issue but are trying to resolve it. We came in from a long day and had to contact reception to find out why the cleaners didn't leave a towel.
The staff were brilliant, they were extremely friendly, polite and made time to get to know all the guests.

His response was maybe “ it’s poor cleaning from the staff”.And the chef did make an effort to emphasize or recook food to help make us feel better. Poor food, poor service from chef.

United StatesThe all white event was a major disappointment and the reason why I rated the experience so low. When I travel to a country I expect to indulged in the countries culture. The music choice was catered to a very specific crowd. I expected reggae, jam rock, lover rock, or calypso, it did not have to be Passa Passa 2.0 but that was the biggest flaw. Another thing, the steak house reservation seating should have been in a secluded area. People would walk right from the beach/pool side into the area mistaking the seating with the buffet side. That did not feel special at all, I can tell some people based on the way they dressed up anticipated a different dining environment. A lot of talent was shown in the Michael Jackson tribute, I would have liked an important artist to Jamaicans shown instead.
Shout out to the staff- Nicky (front desk), D Brown, Mckenzie (Montego), Rico, and a pregnant server w/ braids. All of these members/staff were very professional, kind, and pleasant. I hope in a few years if they want they will be managers at the resort because they are a great representation of the company.

United StatesThey don’t have room service you’re not guarantee to have a two bed room even when you book a two bed room. They didn’t clean all the rooms every day (I had 4 rooms in total) n when they did they never threw out the trash. Also when they did clean the rooms there was never enough wash rags or towels for them to replace so some days we didn’t have any. The don’t have covers on the bed but only sheets. U have to look in the closet to get the blue blanket. No club on this resort. It smelt like mold there black mold in the shower and on the ceilings. The pools close way too early! At the end of the day it what’s you make it. I had fun because of the bartenders was super friendly and I’ll miss them the most but the rooms need much work. Yea Riu is a nope for me.
I love the bartenders at the pool Michelle and Shavon. And Shanell at night. And then I loved Justin n Max at the reception desk. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. I reported a guy knocking on our door trying to get me to come out and they had security stay close to our wing of the resort.
