Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe camp sites were charming, secluded sites in the dune forest. The common gardens lovely, with lots of shady places to hang out- and the views over the ocean magnificent. A lovely location. Friendly helpful areas that made one feel at home

KenyaThe bathroom could do with some hooks and maybe a small shelf to place items when one is showering. The lighting in the tent could be better...perhaps an extra lamp.
This was my first time glamping and I am so glad I took a chance on Bamba Kofi! It was such a wonderful experience! The tented camp area is surrounded by trees and gives this feeling of being immersed in nature. The sound of the ocean at night was so calming! The property itself also has cottages in case one isn't feeling adventerous enough for a more outdoorsy experience. 😁 I loved that the beach was just a few minutes walk and that there were various view points where one could sit and just take in the breathtaking views of the ocean. There is also a pool available in case you want a break from swimming in the ocean! The staff was also very helpful and pleasant! Special mention goes to Benjamin, Alice and Stanley! This was definately a wonderful discovery and I look forward to my next visit!

United KingdomAs vegetarians we did get a bit bored of the food options in the restaurant, but we could have cooked more or gone into town more - but it’s a moto ride away and we didn’t always feel like it. The food we did have was tasty and cooked with love - but it’s certainly not quick - order in advance if you get hungry fast :-)
We loved staying in the tent hut, showering under the trees and cooking and eating outside. The setting is so beautiful, surrounded by nature, and the beach and the sea are incredible. Truly magical place to stay.

NetherlandsThe tents are getting old and our zipper was broken. Would recommend fixing or replacing them.
Stayed here last year and loved it so came back! The place has added various new facilities such as the diving center (little pricier than average but would recommend) and massage place. Pool is great and there is a lot of space next to the sea (but still inside the compound) to lie in the sun or watch the stars. You can cook yourself, store groceries in the underground fridge or eat at the restaurant (food is ok, but we chose to eat somewhere else most of the time). Location is amazing right next to the beach, but a bit away from Watamu town so you can get lots of peace and quiet. Everywhere is still within 10 min drive on a motorbike or so.

United KingdomIf there is such a thing as paradise on earth, it is here ! We stayed in one of the tents. We could hear the roar of the ocean as we lay in bed. The staff are wonderful, friendly and efficient. The food is lovely. It is such a big resort that we felt no need to go outside the grounds. The facilities are first class, I loved the swimming pool , the beach is a minutes walk from there. The restaurant is so laid back, you are made to feel so very welcome. I can comfidently recommend this resort.

ItalyHave in mind that if you are sensitive to the cold, the water of the shared shower is cool.
Bamba kofi was over our expectations. Everything was good: the place, the food at the restaurant, the location close to the beach, the kindness of the care giver and all the staff.

NetherlandsHaving to leave. And minor detail: After dark the pool gets chlorinated so it was not possible to swim in the evening.
Oh my god, I could hear the sea from my hut! The beach had pearl white sand and transparant water. Watamu beach cottages had beautiful viewpoints over the ocean and a clean swimming pool too. I really loved how my tent hut under the baobab tree was like my own little house, with all needed at hand. Sharing the little hut area with just 2-3 neighbours in similar tents or huts (with a kitchen for just us) felt like living in a tiny village - connected with nature: waking up with the view of monkeys climbing the trees right outside of my window. Just bliss. If ever back in Watamu, I’d refuse to stay anywhere else but here. The staff were just beautiful, so helpful. Benjamin, Ken, Mapenzi, Grace, Stanley and Justice. Thank you for making my time there a blast.

United KingdomPossibly could have had smoother check in experience, but no other complaints.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Very friendly staff, great location and good value for money. The A Rocha team are genuine conservationists that include guests in all their activities, and also invited me to social events in Watamu while I was there. They also gave me great advice for interesting swims and hikes to do that meant I didn't have to pay for guided tours. And, you are included in all their meals for no extra charge if you want. Highly recommend.

United StatesIt’s a bit far from watamu itself. However, it has everything you need there and a tuktuk is always easy to get, so it wasn’t an issue for us!
Lovely place on the beach. Good food, some of the friendliest and most helpful staff we’ve seen in Kenya. Plenty of outdoor lounge areas, a beautiful pool and an outdoor self-serving kitchen. We stayed in the tent and with the breeze, shade and fan it was still one of the best and coolest nights of sleep we had. One of our favorite spots in Kenya!
