How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The man at the desk was incredibly helpful! He helped me organise trips around Bishkek, making phone calls for me, checking availability, suggesting alternatives. He speaks excellent English. The hostel was very clean and quiet.

Absolutely loved the stay! Smooth check-in, clean, and super comfortable room. Prime location with easy access to grocery stores, restaurants, ands. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely come back again!

There was bidet on the photo but in reality there is no bidet.

It was a little bit loud in the corridor when people closed their doors. I think the doors to the rooms could be more sound-isolating. The bathrooms could be cleaned more often; sometimes, there was no toilet paper.
Great value for money. I really liked the staff, who were helpful and understanding. The room was big and had a terrace. The shared bathrooms were okay; one can tell that they were cleaned on a regular basis. The kitchen and common area were great and well-equipped. It is in a very nice location with shops, bars, and restaurants.

Had a wonderful stay at Compass. The hostel was super clean and comfortable. Very spacious room and lots of place to put your things. Great location in the city too! Special shout out to Uluk who was wonderful to deal with at the front desk. He is a very kind and helpful!

Occasionally, I could hear footsteps
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is unbeatable, right in the city's heart, with many restaurants nearby offering a wide range of options, from affordable to high-end dining. There’s also a grocery store conveniently located within the building and plenty of money changers that stay open late, making everything super accessible. The cleanliness of the toilet was outstanding, spotless, and well-maintained throughout my visit. The breakfast, though simple, was incredibly delicious, and I loved the added touch of a filtered water tap for refilling bottles. There’s also a continuous supply of coffee, tea, biscuits, and dry bread, perfect for relaxing. A special shout-out to Alex, who was extremely kind and helped me purchase my ticket to Almaty. I highly recommend this place

There are two WC, one bigger and another one smaller. The smaller WC is not equipped with a rack to put toiletries. The iron does not work up to my expectation - my scarf (very thin material) still got the folding line even after i adjusted to the max level. Breakfast should start at 8am but it is not yet ready and can be inconvenient for those who can't wait.
Home-made breakfast, freshly prepared and tasty! Spacious hostel room.

When I arrived my bed wasn't ready, like I didn't have a blanket and towels, feels like they didn't expect anyone. I wrote that I would be doing early check-in, after check-in even though they didn't offer it, I thought it would be somewhere in the room, but couldn't find it, The whole night slept with bed sheets, and was cold.

Breakfasts were fine - but not great cuisine!
A great, well located hostel. We are a couple so took a twin room option. Very friendly staff , very clean and great location - excellent facilities for wash g and ironing - can easily walk everywhere. Felt very safe.
