Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI liked the fact the room had a balcony and the staff were very helpful with local knowledge and great location but the breakfast was very small and I was still hungry and no Cambodian food on the breakfast menu. The room did not have safe for valuables and there was no security guard down stairs.

Really enjoyed our stay, breakfast was great (eggs, toast, coffee and fruit all included!) and all the staff were lovely and friendly! Gave us recommendations for dinner and where to take our laundry. Room was clean and comfortable with a warm shower, really recommend.

CambodiaIn my room, the Karaoke across the road sometimes got too loud. But it stopped at midnight. Other guests didn't hear anything as they faced another direction. The lift goes to the 5th floor. You need to walk to the 6th floor if that is where your room is. If you don't want to walk up a flight of stairs, and don't want the view, ask to be put on floor 1 to 5 only.
The owner was very helpful in everyway. She also protected her property with good management of requiring 'guests of guests', to show I.D. before allowing entry to rooms. Souvanphum is close to the Riverside and the Palace. I had great views from my balcony on the 6th floor. Nothing fancy in the room but great for the price. Close to everything. No toilet paper can go down the toilets so get used to using the bum gun. Walk out the door of the hotel and you are central to everything. I would definitely come back and stay. I felt safe and the owner and her family who worked there, cared about their staff and guests and their safety and their needs.

United KingdomDespite the name, the hotel is a few building aways from the riverside, so don't expect any views out over the Tonie Sap River......just walk 1 minute to the riverside for those.
I booked the Sovanphum Riverside for a trip to Phnom Penh based on location earlier in August. The hotel is literally a blocks walk from the Royal Palace, and the National Museum of Cambodia, very centrally located by the riverside in Phnom Penh, and other attractions in Central/North Phnom Penh. If you can't walk (or don't want to), everything is a Remork Moto Tuk-Tuk ride away! The hotel is owned and run by a nice family, who are very courteous, and helpful, as are all the staff in the hotel. My hosts were very welcoming, and provided information during my stay. My room was comfortable, spacious, quiet, with good air-conditioning, with lift access, pretty much outside the room. The hotel offers a good breakfast, and also (additional) meals and drinks as a separate service. I'd happily stay in the Sovanthum Riverside again if I happened to be in the city, as it is a nice friendly establishment, well located, and with good amenities, helpful staff, good food available, and very well located in Phnom Penh. If This was a good choice of hotel based on location, amenities, and experience.

Franceroom full of cockroaches, take some insecticide with you. toilet non-functional one day. before using your bed take photo of the stains on the bed sheets because I had to pay 10 dollars for a stain supposed to be wine even though I didn't drink wine. If I was not paying she will call immigration to block me!!. I was supposed to be able to keep the sheet but the hotel kept it. it is true that i put pomegranate juice on the bed but surely after a real washing it will disappear. She wash it in front of me with water and the staff claim that it was wine. A very bad experience for me and yet I often come to Phnom Penh really a bad experience. good luck for you. My room (9m2) cost me 12 dol by night and she was not happy for a so lower price..she has to complain to booking not to me
the only interesting point is that the young staff are very nice and supporting.

IsraelBe careful - this is a very dirty place. I decided to write review only because other reviews about this place misled me. "What a delicious breakfast!" This is absolutely outrageous, I can't believe real people can write this. Because it's a lie - breakfast is the most ordinary. Don't believe the high rating and rave reviews about this hotel! Initially, I booked a spacious room, but when I checked in, there was a strong smell of sewage in the room and crowds of ants were running like a stream in the bathroom, running into their holes in the cracks of the tiles. The room was changed, but in the morning the smell of sewage appeared there. There are cockroaches in the rooms, hairs on the tiles and much more. I don’t understand, is it really difficult to clean the room properly? As a result, I was moved to the third room. There was also dirt there, and the next day the floors began to smell strongly (they were apparently washed without special detergents, saving on everything!), the bathroom was dirty (stained mirrors, the faucet was filled with someone else’s toothpaste, cockroaches). Everywhere on the walls of the room there are pupating or dead nests of moths, dirty window sills with other people's cotton swabs and napkins. Breakfast is absolutely nothing and the most ordinary: an egg, a lot of toast, which there is nothing to eat with, butter (if you want jam, you still need to ask for it), some fruit on a small plate, coffee. I can't believe anyone would rave about something like that. I do not recommend it to anyone and the low price does not justify such a pigsty.

ChileHorrible experience on the first night; the air conditioner was full of mold, which gave me an allergy and looked disgusting. The small terrace had a horrible view of the back of the hotel. We asked to change rooms and they moved us. The rooms facing the main street are better; I wouldn't recommend the ones facing the back. It's true that it's cheaper than other options, but this translates to poor cleanliness in every aspect.
Breakfast consisted of an Americano made from an espresso, eggs, some fruit, and bread. I love coffee, so I appreciated that it wasn't instant coffee. Considering the value of the hotel, in my opinion, the breakfast and the location are the most positive aspects.

United KingdomBooked this hotel for one night after a long travel day. The room I was originally put in was full of bugs and ants. Reception changed my room straight away but that room was slightly smaller and looked like it had mould from the old aircon. Really bad smell in the elevator too. Helpful staff think the hotel is just old
The staff on reception were amazing and so helpful when I was checking in. The next day I was having issues with my esim and they even helped with that. We’re very accommodating when I asked to change rooms
