Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeI’ve never written any negative reviews but I feel that I have to. Breakfast was just okay, but I had to wait about 40 minutes to be served. On the third day, I requested breakfast from the same staff member, and she acknowledged it, only for me to wait nearly an hour before realizing she had forgotten entirely. The biggest issue was the attitude of one particular staff member. From the moment I arrived, she was passive-aggressive while explaining the cost of my stay. Her expression is unwelcoming and jaded when talking to me. I even have video proof of her behavior. During checkout, she remained indifferent towards me, yet I noticed her treating other guests much better (for example westerners and locals). I’m a Chinese solo traveler from Singapore. I don’t know what grievance she had against me, maybe it’s a misunderstanding but it made my stay very unpleasant. I spoke to my friends about it and they said she’s racially profiling me.
recently stayed at this dorm, and while the room was clean and tidy, my overall experience was disappointing.

NetherlandsThey should have mentioned that there is an extra fee for paying with card. The staff in the hostel spoke very poor English and had to call the owner for everything. Also it is Definitely not a hostel for social solo travellers, as the other people in the hostel really kept to themselves..
The bedrooms were very clean and it was nice that at night they closed the entrance

United KingdomThe room was uncomfortably cold at night with the AC on full, and when asked turning off the AC or calling a taxi, the female receptionist seemed uninterested in helping.
The mattress was comfortable, and the breakfast was decent considering the price. The location seemed convenient, just a 10 minute walk to a big mall. And the manager was attentive and helpful.

ThailandMake sure to exchange to local currency (Lao Kip) before checking in as the room price varies depends on rate they'll give you. The aircon in the room is turned off in the morning but some guests stayed inside the room so the air has that nasty smell in the afternoon. The aircon in the 2nd floor is only turned on if you asked them too. There's no option to open it by yourself during daytime. You can stay in the hotel cafe if you want some aircon but the 2nd floor lounge is nicer and more quiet than the cafe. There's no accessible public transportation except TukTuk which might be overpriced.
The hostel is very near to the Thai Embassy. You can literally walked 5 mins! There are options for some food and drinks in the hostel cafe. The staff were very nice and helpful even though few of them speak English. The facilities are nice too. I've met fellow guests and went sight seeing. The WiFi is working fast too.

UkraineI slept on the second tier and the bed was a bit uncomfortable coz there is a curtain rod for curtains and there is need to crawl under the curtain rod to be on the bed. But the bed on the first tier is good.
Very friendly staff. Delicious food. Amazing cappuccino! I stayed in a 4 people room. The room was clean. Good ventilation, good AC, a fan. Strong wi fi. Cozy common rooms. There wasn't tap water in the bathroom and toilet coz there was some problems with that. But staff solved did the best to solve that problem. We had water in containers. But next morning everything worked as normal.

ThailandEvery business has its ups and down, but I would share my point of view in order to help improve the property. 1. Breakfast was just standard, but if I compare to my room price, it's just fair enough, I couldn't complain more. 2. The lights in the room. Maybe it would be better to put a small sign like numbers or letters on the switch in order to know which area like toilet, bathroom, and room lights areavailable. New guests were keep on switching the lights as they don't know which switch should be on or off. 3. The second day, there was a pipe fixtures at the property, which it was not informed before hand. The staff said, it was due to some broken pipe last night. Maybe yes or no, who knows? if yes that's fine. But if not, it should be informed beforehand like a written notice at the counter or in the door so that guests could prepare to go out and do something else. Overall I did enjoy my stay, I could say 8 out of 10!
I did travel from Phuket Thailand to Vientiane for my new Non-visa. The property location is just few steps to the Thai Consular office which I do really like it. The place is just great for travelers, economic, with free breakfast. The staff were kind and accommodating, kind and ready to help you. Yes, it is a mixed dormitory yet clean and well organize. Kudos to all employees of Hide.Seek Hostel. I wish I could visit this place once again.

CanadaI was booking to explore the city and so the location wasn’t great. My fault for not doing more research. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but it was okay. Shower not hot but overall a decent place with great staff. Good value for money.
If you are visiting the Thai embassy on a budget this is a great spot to be. If you wish to explore Vientiane it’s not really a very good location and you’ll probably wish to be more in the downtown core. The staff are very good, nice and helpful. Breakfast with coffee are included in the price which is a nice touch (make sure to ask for eggs well done unless you like runny, uncooked whites; this seems to be an Asian thing perhaps). I had a bed in the 4 person female dorm. For the price and if you want the convenience of the embassy, it is great!

GermanyIn the sleeping room are too many beds. When you have the bottom one in the middle it’s hard to get fresh air, because you are surrounded by the curtains of the other beds. It gets very warm! There is no place to put your stuff when you are in the washroom. So no hooks or shelves! You share one toilet and one shower with 10 people. The breakfast is small and not enough for someone who loves breakfast.
The staff is very helpful! The beds are very comfortable!

AustriaI was denied my deposit and had to pay extra for a 3cm stain on my linen, which was already there when I checked in (which I noticed immediately but didn't want to bother anyone with). No way to prove it wasn't me, I should have taken a picture at checkin... Staff was pleasant on all other occasions.
Staff was very helpful with all the questions I had. There is a common room to keep the noise in the room down. Good Wifi, good AC, few mosquitos.

ThailandOne of the breakfast menu, it was only the chicken sausage that was absent that got to me. Unfortunately there was a blackout due to a powerline burning nearby, it caused the whole hostel to check out so I had the whole room to myself and another guest who stayed. They didn't offer a compensation or anything of sort but it was also an understandable issues that was outside of their control for a whole powerline burning down.
The breakfast was 3 menu (Bread, egg, salad and *chicken sausage*), (Bread, Jam, oatmeal with banana slices), and Rice porridge. 3 drinks, Black coffee, Black Tea and Orange juice. They didn't have chicken sausages for the duration of 13 days I stayed though. Which would be my only gripe, but they compensated with an extra egg. Location wise, it was near to the Thai embassy and various stores. The Supermarket was just recently opened with a food court that can easily fill you up for around 50k Kip, theres a pinoy restaurant and an Indian Deli Dubar restaurant (Each around 55k - 80k kip for its food). If you go further to the left of the hostel, there's a place called Hideout vientaine which can get you big portion for the price worth (around 80-90k Kip).
