Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandI wouldn’t stay here unless convenient for location for something you are doing. Eg bus station (20min walk). There was a monkey chained up and in a cage. No breakfast available.
Good location for overnight if getting the bus the next morning

SingaporeAs mentioned that it's a little far from the old town, so there are very few eateries around. No convenient stores nearby and the host sells bottled water, beer and other drinks much more expensive than buying from town. Also no travel agencies or motor bike rental nearby. The helpful manager can help arrange all those through 3rd parties and even fetch you to the motor bike shop in town and back. So he's always busy. The only service that they do in-house is laundry but they charge per piece.
It's a quiet location but a little far to walk to the old town. The manager is helpful although we need a translation app to communicate in English. Among other small things, he helped us to rent a motor bike (not on-site), buy train tickets through a friend of his and arranged a tuk tuk to transport us to the railway station. A busy but reliable guy.

BrazilThe bed wasn't the most comfortable one, I could feel the springs on my back so I had to lay down on the left side of the bed. Apart from that, nothing to complain.
The reception of the onwer. He was welcoming, smiley and helpful. I could work from here, but sometimes the wifi was unstable (just for a few seconds or minutes). Although the guest house was a little bit far from town (around 15 minutes walking), I appreciated the location.

Beer, water, soda, and flvoid drinks available. Very reasonably priced.

United StatesMy score would be very different if it wasn't for the fact that this establishment keeps an imprisoned monkey. They should really give it away to some rescue center and realize that keeping a wild animal in a tiny cage just for their own entertainment is simply cruel. Not to mention that they also had a puppy dog on a leash so short that it could barely lie down. Please stop animal cruelty!
The common area Is very nice, there's free tea and instant coffee. The rooms were ok, too and the price is one of the cheapest in Luang Prabang.

Thailandanimal cruelty I had very very bad time in this hotel due to the " Monkey cruelty " In this hotel they put the monkey in the small cage and i heard about how suffer of that monkey because of life with out freedom in the samll cage. Over all , they gave the dog or cat food to the monkey !! I have no idea in the 20's why people stillthinks that puting the animals in the cage is the thing to show off the wealy . That is the suffering life in the small cage with the sound of help asking. As i know that is the order of the Chinese owner who is managing the business from China. Please , let yhe monkey free. Nobody fell good to see his suffering eyes. If the owner read this message , i would like to ask " did you ever see the eyes of the monkey" . Why this life need to in the 2 square meter cage ?

AustraliaOnly negative is that it's about 3km away from the night market.
Perfectly delightful. Reasonably far from town, but close to the UXO Museum and a quite-nice bar called U-Bar. The rooms are fine, the bathrooms are large, and there is a balcony and terrace area that make incredibly charming spots to lie down and have a beer.
