Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Wonderful location within walking distance of Trailhead to Pidurangala Rock. The tree houses are amazing and really make you feel like you are embedded within nature. Kids enjoyed roaming the grounds and playing on the suspended nets. Dinner and breakfast were great and served by a very friendly member of Staff. Fun to see monkeys and fireflies visiting our “room”.

GermanyPerfect location for visiting Pidurangala Rock. You can walk to the trail-head in 5 minutes. But be careful in the morning. It is advised to use a Tucktuck because of the elephants in the area. In the evening we were fine though. The room was great and thanks to the tree cover it was not too hot. In the evening it was cool enough for sleeping. A large fan provided the necessary breeze in the afternoon. The breakfast was very good and we also had dinner twice, which I can recommend.

United KingdomAmazing jungle location - I walked in the adjoining jungle and found wild elephant dung within 100m, so be cautious about walking in the jungle at dusk (and definitely not at night). Great bird life and peace, a nice walk through some jungle to a nearby temple, and then a short way on the road to the famous Pidurangala rock. The staff, under the exceptional Dhammika, are all professional, friendly and knowledeable. I missed the opportunity to stay in a tree-house, which would have been an even more unforgetable experience. Only had breakfast, which was a pity, since the food was very good. Thank you very much for a great stay. Look forward to visiting again.

NetherlandsThe road to access is Bumba. And it is a little far away from town, so you have to get a tuktuk to go into Sigirya. We had no warm water. I found it a little on the expensive side, comparing it to other special places we stayed at.
Beautiful tree house. Nice and comfortable beds. A cool experience to sleep with no walls. The musquitonets were very good. I did not worry about animals or mosquitos getting in our beds. Service was great.

United KingdomThe lack of phone reception can make it difficult to arrange transport but the staff were very helpful with this.
Amazing jungle location, a rustic treehouse, which was exactly what we hoped for. An ecological site that merges with its jungle surroundings, not a 5* hotel. The staff were very helpful and the food was fantastic. We also had a surprise at breakfast when an elephant crashed by!! The wildlife we saw included monkeys, chipmunks, a giant squirrel and on a late night tour we managed to spot several Slender Lorises. We also love the sounds of the jungle and being woken by the many birds singing the dawn chorus.

United KingdomIt is exactly what it says - offering a real experience of a night in the jungle. Friendly staff, offering simple but good quality Sri Lankan dinner at a very reasonable price. An added bonus is that it is only 5 minutes walk from the entrance to Pidurangala Rock, which is a ‘must’.

NetherlandsThe price is very high and they will surplus charge you with a high convertable rate, service charge ánd 3% card payment. No other hotel we've stayed at would do this with this amount of money. There are other really cool places to stay within Sigiriya. I'm not sure this high rate is really worth it.
The treehouse is very special. You are just surrounded by nature. The mosquitonet is very comfortable and gives you the feeling of laying in a cocoon in the middle of the jungle!

Exactly as it looked, you are in the jungle, with monkeys running around outside. The food was very good, and the team that looked after us really cared that we enjoyed our time

BelgiumOur neighbours were quite loud, which made it almost impossible to enjoy the nature sounds. The breakfast and dinner was very Western, which we felt was a bit of a bummer. We would've enjoyed the typical Sri Lankan foods and spiciness better. Even though we enjoyed our stay at Back of Beyond - Jungle Hideaway, we felt it was way too expensive for what we got. He told us they have a second treehouse complex, even deeper down into the jungle, where you don't hear a single car or other human being. This second complex, Back of Beyond - Wild Haven, illogically even seems to be cheaper, so I would look at this one first.
The staff was very warm and welcoming from the get-go. We loved to be and sleep in the open treehouse out in the jungle. Also the half-open shower was perfect as it made us feel like we were still out in the open. We had booked an Ayurvedic massage on arrival, and they offered us a free tuktuk ride to the spa and waited for us until we were done to bring us back. We also joined them for Loris watching, which they are véry enthusiastic about! Definitely something to consider.

In the jungle, the owner is talking sustainability and educational initiatives. There is a loris spotting tour in the evening. Experience of different kind- waken by birds and monkey rattling on roof in the morning
