How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The rooms were not clean. When i entered the hostel room, the room was skanky and the linens were wet. I was expecting atleast dried linens to be provided. It was an already used one or not dried. There is no breakfast available at this rate whereas the competitors are providing a basic breakfast.
Location is conveniently centered in Colombo.

I didn't have any complaints.
We arrived in Colombo around 3AM and Mr. Thamil went above and beyond to have a room cleaned for us settle us without delay as we were travelling with small children. Really good value for the price. Super convenient location. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Exemplary guest house! High-quality furniture, in particular beds, and a comfortable lobby with a large working table. There is even a glassed 'meeting room', the first time I see such a thing in a guest house.

All good!
A really good example of a hostel. Really friendly and helpful staff. The bunk beds were proper, sturdy constructions built into the wall that didn't move at all, each with a small light and a powerpoint. Great location!

I think there was a mattress protector on the bed that I could hear when I turned in the bed.
There was a situation outside but I felt safe and staff were good at letting me know when to go out. Place was calm, spotless, nice common area, and beds were a good length (I'm tall), with free tea and coffee. Staff were lovely, one walked me to where there was food when he later passed me in the street.

The staff is super friendly, the place is very clean and comfortable, location is great. As well as the price for the dorm rooms is great value for money. Wifi speed is great for work. They have a rooftop which is also great and have a nice view

The bathroom fittings need a little care. But the cleanliness was great, so not major complaints :)
Lovely, cozy little space in the heart of Colombo. Only was looking for a comfy bed for the night and a clean bathroom during my stay, since I was out 15 hours a day. And with C1 I got comfort beyond my expectations. The rooftop is a beautiful to sit and have your takeaway for dinner. The staff was genuinely friendly, especially Mr Angelo, and the young gentleman at the reception who I couldn't get the name of. Special thanks to Mr Bernie as well for his hospitality.

The only thing that could be added is a heating plate or cooker in the kitchen.
Everything was great! The bunk beds are extremely comfy and in general the facilities are very good! The rooms got very nice AC and it’s quiet at night! They offer you also free Coffee and Tea which is very nice :)

My favourite hostel, I stayed here 2 times and recommend to all my friends who is coming to Colombo. Very nice staff, help with everything, high speed internet, if you are working, perfect place to stay and work. Free coffee and tea. Around many restaurants, to railway station you can get by walking. High recommended!

The room did have an AC but the remote was missing. And finding a replacement one was difficult. When one was found, the battery was dying. 🙈 The dorm room was also always open, so everyone could just walk in. That did not feel very safe. There were lockers available for your stuff and valuables, though two of the four didn‘t lock properly.
I stayed in a dorm room, which was very clean and the beds were comfortable and the sheets new. There was a light and a plug next to each bed. 👍🏼 There was free tea available in the mornings and the staff was friendly and helpful.

I paid £39 for a private room and I didn’t feel it was up to standard. The room felt dated, and I did feel like that was a lot of money for what I had.
The staff were very helpful and the entrance lobby was clean and modern with comfy sofas to sit on.
