How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The service was great! We arrived before check in and very tired after flight, and they were kind to offer us a room to nap before our is ready. Team was very helpful with all information we needed, polite and smiling the whole time. The suite room is amazing, unfortunately we had book another one, but still a good one. Well working cooling and water system. No insects.

Staff was really nice and helpful. The hotel is at a walking distance from the train station. The room was comfortable. Few restaurants near by. I only stayed for a night and the room had everything needed for a short stay.

I was in common room. it's could be a little bit noisy.

Ideally would have liked breakfast included as for this price, we had this elsewhere in Sri Lanka. Room 204 safe did not work.

Although both bedrooms had their own air conditioners (which was great), there was no air conditioning in the lounge or kitchen areas, which made spending any time in these rooms uncomfortable. We had to wait about 45 mins for our room to become available after the designated check-in time.
We stayed two nights at C1 Colombo in the 2-bedroom suite. Both bedrooms were spacious and having two bathrooms was a great plus. The lounge area was comfortable and very spacious also, and the kitchen was well appointed (although we didn't use it). C1 Colombo is well located in the Fort area, with easy access to the Dutch Hospital and Pettah markets. The staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful.

Under the impression that breakfast was included, but we arrived early in the morning after a long flight, so probably my fault.
Great location for historical area. Shared kitchen with microwave, tea kettle & dishes. Decent bathroom. Comfortable bed with decent linen. The street was surprisingly quiet with our street facing room. Tea offered in the lobby. Fabulous local restaurant around the corner. Working elevator.

In a shared dorm, there can be differences of opinion on whether to run the AC, and at what level. But that’s part of the deal when in a low-cost hostel. Not a major issue.
The staff! SO helpful and kind- the warm greetings make it feel like checking in to a high class hotel, not a budget hostel. The facilities are not fancy, but housekeeping does a great job of keeping the place very clean - even shower rooms when the hostel was fully booked. Comfortable common area, free tea/coffee in the morning, good advice on transport etc. Shankar was particularly kind, bringing me packets of Ayurvedic medicine for my stuffy nose. What a lovely way to end my visit!

great location for Fort as close to station, 2 min walk from Dutch hospital nightlife area and proper largish supermarket on corner of street. Luxury 2 bedroom room appt with kitchen/microwave etc & large lounge exactly as per photos - with v big terrace outside sheltered from sun too.
