Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA very special place with incredible staff that go way and beyond to help. Designed by the renowned architect and artist Laki Senanayake, the main hotel is located on the tip of a wild beach and entrance to a lagoon. Some of the rooms could do with a bit of renovation and some of the air con units don’t work properly etc. But we ended up not needing air con as the building has good cross ventilation and mosquito nets. Breakfast is generous and delicious. Dinner isn’t cheap for SL but the chef is talented and it’s worth it as you can request whatever you fancy including lagoon crab , shrimps, while fish cooked in banana leaves etc. I am sad to leave and already planning my return!

United KingdomWe loved absolutely everything about this place. The welcome from staff, the stunning views, and beautiful room. The food was fabulous so we ate at the hotel every night. Breakfast was huge and the local dishes were excellent. Staff were so helpful and organised anything you needed making it the most relaxing stay. Swimming off the beach is very safe and if you like nature you will love it here as there are so many different birds to see.

We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The rooms were so nice, the beach was peaceful and the staff helped us arrange all the activities we wanted to do (and the boat goes directly from the hotel so it couldn’t be easier). The staff were superb and the food (although pricier than we were used to in Sri Lanka) was amazing and we ended up eating at the hotel every night because it was so good. The breakfast was also incredible with so much food!!

Hong KongI booked one night at C Beyond but liked it so much I extended my stay for a second night. The villa and plunge pool was unexpectedly luxurious. The Laki Senanayake designed house was exquisite and replete with his sculptures and paintings. The food was consistently delicious. Eric, the manager was an accomplished host. I highly recommend C Beyond and its beautiful beach location.

PolandThe beach could be cleaner, if you walk from the hotel the beach has a lot of plastic. No one seems to care about that

United KingdomPlastic waste on beach, although C Beyond staff work hard to keep their immediate location clean. Lots of wild dogs around who are friendly, but noisy at night. A fan on the balcony would be nice.
Stunning views from this attractive property. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Mosquito nets around bed. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, breakfast was enormous. Very peaceful location, but remote.

BelgiumFood could be more local , or more balanced local/western food.
Excellent breakfast with the best from 2 worlds (Sri Lanka and Western). The location is a paradise, if you like remote (and we do). Room, shower and bathroom very good. Friendly staff. The sea, shorter access to Pigeon island. Romantic setting (dinner with pond/sea view) .

United KingdomNothing. Everything was perfect.
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely hotel which has a fantastic view of the Bay of Bengal from every room. Our bedroom, with the same magnificent view was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large with a fabulous shower. The staff, who are carefully chosen by the owner from the surrounding villages, are very kind and helpful, just like the owner. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful as are the evening meals. It was so relaxing to stroll on the beach and around the grounds of the hotel, which are full of trees, shrubs and birds. It was also interesting to watch the fish in the large pond. Our trip to Sri Lanka was to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday and the staff presented him with a birthday cake as they sang 'Happy Birthday' to him. The memory of this kindness, plus the beauty and peaceful ambiance of the hotel, is something I will remember for a long time. I was sorry to leave this paradise after only two nights. Highly recommended.

United KingdomLeaving!
We had to tear ourselves away. Eric and his team were so welcoming and the food was amazing. We asked for local food and they were only too happy to suggest and prepare delicious meals for us. We turned the air conditioning off and slept with the doors open to the sound of the waves. There’s a little inlet with a few fishing boats coming and going to watch from the generous balcony. We drove around and felt that we had arrived in Nilaveli just before tourism had really kicked off. With only a few rooms, if you want cocktails and bar music this is not the place, if you want a chilled very comfortable beach side stay in what feels like a private hotel it is. Just book it, you won’t regret it!

GermanyAbsolutely nothing!
We spent a few days here outside of the main season and really enjoyed our time. The hotel is located a little north of Nilaveli, but the surrounding towns are easy to reach by tuk-tuk. The secluded location with direct beach access meant we had a beautiful private beach that we only had to share with a few cows. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and our wishes were taken into account at dinner. The host Eric is a very personable and open person and has built up a great team. All employees are extremely courteous, friendly and very well trained. We felt very welcome here and would be happy to come back one day!

United KingdomCould have one or two more substantial veggie/vegan options available as there is not much choice as to where to eat around the hotel, making it difficult for vegans to stay for longer periods (which we would love to do!).
We stayed for three nights and the staff really got to know us and our preferences - They were lovely. The beach next to the place is heavenly and the view from the main house of the inlet are pretty special. We did a snorkelling trip to Pigeon Island, which was great. The fresh seafood was perfect, served on the porch overlooking the inlet. I enjoyed the communal feel of it. It was one of the most relaxing places we stayed in Sri Lanka.

We spent at this amazing place 3 nights for our honeymoon. It has luxury beauty. Rooms are spacious and really tidy, it has all the necessary equipments you need. On our third night we had to change apartments because of overbooking, but we were given more beautiful one.:) All rooms have a marvellous sea-view. The place has a nice private beach and restaurant as well.
