Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was comfortable and safe- we were happy here as budget travellers but I think if cleanliness is a priority for you it might not meet your standards. It wasn’t very unclean just lots of bugs and not spotless.
The owner was so lovely and happy to help. We had a really good, big breakfast too. Also he offered bike rentals for the ruins and a taxi to and from the station which we used and was really helpful. Also great location very close to the lake which we cycled around at sunset and was beautiful- recommended by the owner- and also close to the ruins.

New ZealandThe owner was very nice and helpful . He gave us warning and advices when walking or riding a tuktuk in Polonnaruwa. He showed us the cheapest and very good local foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner in SriLanka. Only 60 meters from the accommodation. As well near the fruit market. You can buy fruits and eat in Dilshan guest with many tables and chairs. Just walking distance from Ancient city. Warning if some tuktuk driver offers you a cheap rides tour around the Ancient city.make it sure that you will see the 2 historical sites near the museum where you can buy the tickets before entering the main entrance to see the other sites and make it sure, your tickets is with you when you finished. Usually they will drop you off and so.eone will pick you up but they usually get your tickets and sell it to other tourists. You will be surprised that you really didn't seen all So better rent a bicycle to Dilshan and do it yourself in your time.. He was able to organized a better deal price for Elephant safari (note that safari here in SriLanka is over advertised) If you never been to a Safari from other Countries and it's OK but Safari SriLanka is like a FARM ELEPHANTS, you can see farm cows on the other sides and the tours usually starts at 1 PM when it's really hot in order for the Elephants will be near the water.you can see about 30-40 Elephants but about 300 safari jeeps coming everywhere from Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, etc.

I had the pleasure of staying at Dilshan Guest House during my recent visit to Polonnaruwa, and I can confidently say that this charming guest house exceeded all my expectations! Upon arriving at Dilshan Guest House, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who made me feel right at home. The check-in process was smooth, and they were kind enough to provide me with a map of the area and some fantastic recommendations for exploring the ancient city. The guest house's location is simply perfect for history enthusiasts like me. It's conveniently situated close to the main historical sites, allowing me to easily immerse myself in the awe-inspiring ruins of Polonnaruwa. After a long day of exploration, coming back to the peace and tranquility of Dilshan Guest House felt like a true retreat. My room was a haven of comfort and cleanliness. The bed was incredibly cozy, and the tasteful decor added a touch of elegance to the space. I appreciated the little details, like fresh flowers on the bedside table, which made me feel pampered and cared for. One of the highlights of my stay was the mouthwatering Sri Lankan breakfast served at Dilshan Guest House. The flavors were authentic and delightful, giving me the opportunity to savor the local cuisine. The staff's attentiveness during breakfast was admirable, making sure I had everything I needed to start my day on a positive note. The early morning safari to Kaudulla National Park was an absolute delight. The jeep was comfortable, and our experienced guide had an impressive knowledge of the park and its inhabitants. As we ventured deeper into the wilderness, I was captivated by the stunning scenery and the anticipation of encountering wildlife in their natural habitat.

United KingdomUnderstandably after 2 years of Covid whilst the room had been serviced it was tired and was in need of a deep clean to bring it back up to a reasonable standard. The slightly intense owner was very keen to push/sell trips and other tourist activities. The door to the room opened out onto the main reception/breakfast area which could have been noisy if the place had been busier but was quiet during our stay.
We stayed in February 2022. The location was walking distance to the lake and the main historical sites. The main highway and the buses were a two minute stroll. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The AC worked pretty well. The en-suite bathroom was a reasonable size and the shower was usable. If you are not expecting a luxury stay this is a perfectly adequate value for money location.
