There were quite a few steps on the way to the room, but it's common in mountains. The top floors of the house are still being finished by the family, but this is also common in Sri Lanka.

The breakfast was super delicious and the room was also clean and comfortable. The view from the terrace was amazing! The family was so nice to us, helped with everything. One evening we ordered dinner and it was the best fried rice I had after spending a year in Sri Lanka. We are very happy we chose this property in Ella - it was very authentic compared to the mass touristy places in the village.

This property is not suitable if you can’t climb some stairs.

I don’t believe you will find a better view in Ella. It is truly jaw dropping. The room is clean and comfortable. There is a balcony to sit out on and take in the view. The breakfast was one of the more memorable of my life, see picture. The owners are lovely. The son took me to see the sights and back and forth into Ella for a reasonable rate.

Sheets were too small for the (big) bed. Quite some insects in the room + a giant gecko.

Super friendly and helpful owners. Breakfast was the best one we had so far. Son of the owner offered us affordable daily rides by tuk tuk. The view from the kitchen and the room was magnificent. I definitely recommend this place for longers stays. Also dont forget to try the lunch/dinner prepared by the onwer. It is really delicious.

Tuk tuk needed all the time if you want to go to Ella, luckily they had also a tuk tuk and helped with the rides for a smaller cost than normal

Nothing bad, unless you are afraid of stray dogs which might sunbathe on the terrace. Also, I spotted some monkeys on the roofs that may try to steal something from you.

Exceptional location between the hills with a great view on a big balcony. I was mind blown. Room is spacious and clean. Shower works as it is supposed to. Host is very friendly and insisted on me having a free breakfast. Such a great place! Definitely want to come back. Host also gave me a tuktuk driver contact that asked reasonable prices and was all the time available if I needed a lift to the town uphill. There is also a bus stop right next to the place, buses run around every 20 minutes.

Nothing, the accomodation is a bargain for the price. Amazing location and amazing people.

I had a wonderful stay at Herbage Natural. The room was lovely and clean, the bed very large and comfortable and hot water and WiFi all worked perfectly. The location was a quick 10 minute drive by tuk tuk into Ella, so it is out of the hustle, bustle and noise of the city and in peaceful, tranquil surroundings of the rainforest covered slopes of Ella rock and adam's peak. The view is absolutely amazing, out of this world, especially at sunrise and sunset. You can genuinely take in this view from the comfort of the balcony too. The family here are wonderful people, incredibly kind, courteous and made me feel so welcome. They prepared a fantastic breakfast each morning and couldn't do enough to make my stay special. Thank you very much for your kind service and I highly recommend staying here.

The location is a bit far from town but it is so beautiful that it was worth it. The room was lovely and the actual hot water was very welcome. The owners did everything they could to make my stay comfortable. The wifi was the best I've had in Sri Lanka!

The service given by the host was beyond expectation. They made sure my family was comfortable throughout our stay with what little facilities they have. The rooms were clean, hot water was available and the breakfast was delightful. Also, the view from the balcony was breathtaking. I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone with a budget. There are even a few restaurants that offer rice and curry buffets (afternoon) and western food (evening) nearby, and are economically priced. The town of Ella, Ravana falls and the Ravana cave are also in close proximity.

Not much, we were really happy- only thing I could recommend is warm light bulbs not the stark bright bulbs it can give a nicer way to lounge

Being in a jungle-like area, there were some insects/flies inside the room and monkeys outside in the balcony.

The property was very clean and breakfast was great. Most of all, the staff were incredible. It is run by a family who bend over backwards to be helpful and to make sure you are comfortable. Their son took us on an amazing tour of Ella for a very reasonable price.
