The room was simple, but cozy and clean. The owners were very helpful (they help us to organize sunset hike). If you are not used to the heat, book a room with AC, because in the room with the fan is very hot.

A Truly Unforgettable Stay at Sigiriya Hillside View Villa Our stay at Sigiriya Hillside View Villa was nothing short of magical. Hosted by a warm and welcoming local family, we felt at home from the moment we arrived. Their son, Kavindu, took exceptional care of us, ensuring that every detail of our visit was perfect. He is a kind-hearted young man with big dreams, studying to become an electrical engineer, and we truly enjoyed our time with him. One of our most cherished memories was walking around the lake with him, having a wonderful chat, and learning more about local life. Kavindu also organized an unforgettable safari for us, which was simply breathtaking. The wildlife, the scenery, and the overall experience were beyond words. He also arranged a village tour that gave us a true taste of authentic Sri Lankan culture. We took a peaceful bullock cart ride through the jungle, enjoyed a boat trip on the lake, and participated in a traditional cooking class led by two incredible local women. The food was delicious, and the entire experience felt so genuine and special. We are beyond grateful for the love, hospitality, and care we received from this wonderful family. If you’re looking for an authentic local stay while supporting a small family-run business, we highly recommend Sigiriya Hillside View Villa. This experience touched our hearts, and we will cherish it forever. Truly amazing in every way!

Nothing. Only because the location of the apartment is a bit out of the centre, we were told it's not recommended to walk alone in the late night or early morning due to the rare chance of encountering wild elephants

The hosts are very nice and kind, always ready to reply to your questions and help you with recommendations and arranging transfers. The apartment is in the middle of nature and it's relaxing and quiet. Breakfast was amazing and the price is super convenient

The main downside was the lack of cold hot water in the shower. Additionally, the location is about 20 minutes from the city center, and apps like PickMe don’t work well for short trips in remote areas (drivers keep cancelling your requests), so you rely on the family to help organize transportation. It would also be great if they offered dinner in the villa, as it’s not recommended to go out after dark due to elephants, and the nearest restaurant is a 20-minute drive/walk away.

Our stay at this family-run hotel was truly exceptional. The warmth and care with which the entire family treated us made us feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious, varied, and plentiful. They went above and beyond, helping us arrange tuk-tuks and recommending a very affordable safari compared to others we had seen. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and as two friends traveling together, we appreciated having two large separate rooms.

A chair in the bedroom would help, I just took one from the dining table outside my room!

Very much in the heart of nature. A spacious room. The breakfast was good and substantial. Sadeepa, the hosts' son, helped me a lot. He advised on the walks up both Pidurangala and Sigiriya Rocks. As he had a tuk tuk it was easy to get to each of the Rocks to do a sunrise walk. He kindly came early in the morning to pick me up and charged a fair rate. Sadeepa also helped me to get my laundry done and was a great help, which made my stay very easy and pleasant.

Hot water and water pressure were a bit low but I experienced that these are pretty common issues in Sri Lanka.

Nice position out of chaos, among nature. To move you need to be picked up (we had our own tuktuk and it was perfect); Sadeepa is a very helpful and gentle person. Room was very clean. Everything looked new (building, AC, bathroom...) as per dec.2024. Breakfast was good.

We had two favourite stays (from 7) and this one is one of them. Really nice host, he spent nice time with us talking. Very nice family. The location was perfect. Peaceful place near to jungle. Nice garden, sounds of nature, view on lion rocks. Really nice breakfasts.

There was high humidity in the room and mold in some places, it might’ve been because it rained a lot before our arrival. But also the shower was leaking and the bathroom floor was always wet so I think this doesn’t help. It was ok as we stayed only one night, but this can be an issue for other tourists.

The villa is cute and has a wonderful garden. The hosts are very welcoming, polite and nice, they served us tea when we arrived and talked a lot. The breakfast was amazing (it is spicy for foreigners but delicious). The room is basic but clean and good for a short stay. It’s located in a wonderful location near rice fields with a magical view of Sigiriya Rock. It is good for the price.

Absolutely nothing!

Amazing place almost in the jungle. You have all the privacy you can wish for and apart from the sounds of the jungle 😉 it is very peaceful. Lots of wild animals around. Mosquito net. Fantastic host and very tasty breakfast. The place is clean and there is a warm shower in the bathroom. The location is very convinient and you can have a nice walk to The Lion Rock from there. The recommended restaurant was also very good. We would definitely recommend staying there!

The location is beautiful and Sadeepa is really kind and helpful. He gave us many tips and looked out for our safety. Everyone was just incredibly friendly, the food was delicious and the room was beautiful and very clean! This stay was by far our most favorite in Sri Lanka. Near the stay is also a lake where you can go swimming.

The place was very quiet, close to rice fields and a lake where people go in the evening to cool down. At last moment we changed for the room with A/C as it was very hot and we were happy about it The breakfast was tasty for us, one of the most tasty that we had since more than one month travelling in Sri-Lanka The owners were full of kindness 🙏, Sadeepa arranged us bikes, tuk-tuk and shared a lot of useful informations 20 min by bike to Lion Rock

There is just one small fan in the room so the room can get very hot. If there was another floor fan, everything would be spot on.

This guesthouse is one of the best places I stayed on my three week trip in Sri Lanka. Sadeepa and his family are incredibly generous and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and super tasty, as was the dinner. The room was very spacious and clean. There is also an incredible view of Lion Rock just outside of the property.
