Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere were a couple of things that were not great -especially for a resort that you are paying a premium price for 1. Check in process was protracted and clumsy We were told that you can pay cash in USD … but when given we’re told a couple of 100 dollar notes were unacceptable -ie not going to be accepted in SL bank although the notes were changed in Australian bank! Then when we tried paying in USD via credit card. Their credit card machine didn’t accept this. So finally we paid in LKR 2. Stayed for 2 nights and wanted to use the gym but this was not available -undergoing renovations 3. Property doesn’t have driver accomodation
This is Uber Luxary with some rooms having private beach access Staff were great especially in the restaurants and beach/pool bars

United KingdomThe ac in the room was quite noisy at night and it would have been nice to be able to direct it away from the bed.
The staff were all fabulous. They were very kind and friendly from the moment we arrived. We really loved chatting to them all. We liked the jungle around our room (as we saw beautiful butterflies and heard the birds) but also appreciated the quick access to the beach. Sadly storms were present whilst we were there but it was still a fabulous experience. Thanks to Ishara for making sure we were happy, Danu for showing me the crocodile and all the guys and girls in the restaurant and bar, and at reception.

PolandThe hotel was in a good location with a private beach. The decor was nice, rooms were very spacious and modern. We always had services available to us. The choice of breakfast was excellent and the variety on offer was very diverse. The staff were excellent in attending to any queries. The lifeguard on the beach was also very friendly and provided good recommendations. We enjoyed it so much that we might try one of their other locations on our next visit.

United KingdomOnly negative being the lack of fishing trips from the hotel even though they are advertised online. We were told the hotel had stopped them due to lack of interest.
Liked everything about Jungle Beach. Beautiful location. Beautiful villas with both great outdoor and indoor showers. The staff were exceptionally professional abd at the same time helpful and friendly.

BelgiumReally nothing to not like! Just do not forget your flash light at night, there will be insects and animals around. There was a snake at the beach, so take your beach shoes! Can’t blame the hotel for it, it’s nature!
It IS a JUNGLE resort! It is intelligently well built around the trees and mangroves, even the swimming pool matches and gives jungle vibe. A jungle vibe cannot be complete without animals around: squirrels at the pool, small turtles, crabs, but the best: from the lagoon view suite: view on the crocodiles and so many different kinds of birds. Pristine beach but it wasn’t as sandy white as in the pictures, that really depends on the season. Great staff! From the moment you reach the hotel, at the bar, at the restaurants, at the spa, the staff is friendly and ready to help. Excellent food! Breakfast is not buffet but à la carte, it fits an eco friendly approach. Quite some variety. Same for dinner. A must for seafood lovers. Special thanks to Mitila and the executive Chef Chandika, for preparing some local vegetarian not-on-the-card dishes for us. Very much appreciated.

United KingdomThe hotel was beautiful with well appointed chalets, which were spacious and thoughtfully decorated. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach which has a cafe for hotel guests. Trincomalee town is a short distance away. Although the cuisine is predominantly aimed at Western tourists Prabodha and Nipun made sure our requests for local cuisine were catered for.

South AfricaA lot of the sand on the beach is black which is apparently due to Ilmenite. It does detract a little from the aesthetics. If you want to eat out, you must expect a 20 minute drive to Nilaveli. Best to eat in. The restaurant, including breakfast, is excellent.
We stayed in a beach chalet and had our private path of 20 metres through the bush onto the beach. The setting was stunning. Likewise the room was spacious and very well appointed. There was a shower in the bathroom and a second outdoor one, and we enjoyed our private verandah. The beach chalets are somewhat more expensive than the lagoon and jungle chalets but for us our room was definitely worth the difference. The main building is cleverly woven into nature and fits snugly round the pool. The beach stretches a long way to the north and is effectively exclusive to the hotel.

Beautiful location and pool amongst the trees and a private beach. Gym is a nice touch and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing after a lot of travelling. Great to wind down and soak up the sun.

United KingdomThere ought to be mention of the black sand, or a photograph, as our initial view of the beach from the North end was not good.
We loved it! Exactly what we thought we were getting and more, once the problem of our broken air con was fixed. A bottle of Champagne for our trouble and moved to a new room. Food and staff were amazing too

United KingdomTaxi to Trinconomalee China bay airport was a little pricey for Sri Lanka at 80$ for a 1 hour journey We used lots of cars, organised by hotels, previously which were much more reasonably priced.
It was very peaceful and a lovely location amongst the trees. We had a lagoon cabin which was very nice. Could see a baby crocodile most mornings bathing in the sun. Staff lovely.

BrazilDidn’t even use the beautiful pool but might look bigger than it is. It caters well for families with kids and perhaps less so for adults. not really a problem and did not impact the stay, just a description of what it looks like.
One of a kind! Food was a major highlight: best breakfast with many options, dinner by the beach was wonderful too. Beach is calm and completely empty apart from hotel (beach is not as nice as neighboring Nilaveli but is still great). Lush green and open-air spaces make it super nice. Most friendly and attentive service. Room was excellently designed, spacious and very comfortable. It’s a relatively large place but never feels crowded.
