Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA bit far from the town center but they will help you get anywhere anytime with their tuktuk. I would suggest changing the locks in the bathroom (hard to open/close) and offering a selection of drinks to buy at the hostel.
Great place with amazing value for money! The staff is so friendly and helpful, giving recommendations but also arranging everything to get you where you want to go. This place also attracts very friendly solo travellers - it was very easy to meet people, great vibe and family atmosphere.

FranceI had such a good stay here. You have free breakfast and the hostel is small so you can meet other travelers easier. But the best part is the people who works here. They do their best to make sure that you will have the best stay. They drive you everywhere, anytime and propose activities almost every day. Really chilling vibes. Also when the hostel was full, they gave me a private room for the same price ! Thank you so much again! 100% recommand

GermanyI can’t even put in words how comfortable I felt during my stay in the hostel. Chooti and Diwa are very kind, cool and spontaneous human beings who try to make you feel as welcomed as possible. They also take you on some tours. If you suggests anything, they are always up for an activity. All in all, it’s a great value of money. I highly recommend staying at the jungle host hostel. You will most likely keep on extending.

PolandIf you're looking for an authentic Sri lankan experience and wanna be treated more as a friend rather than a guest, choose Jungle Host Hostel. Chooti and Diva - the hosts, took good care of me and showed me some secret places around. We had so much fun spotting elephants at night, watching plenty of sunsets and sunrises. I think I also learned a lot about the Sinhala culture cause it was a bit like a Couchsurfing experience. I met some great travellers in the hostel! It was definitely my best stay in Sri Lanka and I'm grateful for that. The rooms are also very nice and clean.

Best vibes here. Hostel's owner, workers and friends (and little LILY) are just the most amazing and friendly people, they take you to all the best spots on their tuk tuk and have lot of suggestions, the best people to hang out with. It's a simple place, they clean everyday and make you great breakfast. Be careful because it's almost impossible to stay just one night, I had to extend my stay twice. I will miss this place!

ThailandNothing! They have just opened for a month and still working hard to improve facilities one by one. Sometimes the water stops running, just let them know and they’ll start up the water tank. It’ll be working soon after :)
This is the best place to chill and slow down:) I stayed here for 2 full weeks because I felt so at home, and became very good friends with Diwa and Chooti who run the place. They are amazing people and very open. They know a lot about the area as well as other regions, if you need any recommendations. They drove us with other guests to many cool places (don’t forget to help cover the Tuktuk gas costs please! They hesitate to ask.) Both of them take good care of all the guests! They keep it very very clean, every day doing a full cleaning routine inside and sweeping outdoors! The breakfast included is nice as well. The location is outside of Sigiriya main center, which is perfect for me! It’s very local and authentic in this area, local food at local prices. It doesn’t have that touristy energy. I loved going for walks around the area, chilling in the hammocks and common area. Surrounded by all the trees. Whether sun or rain, it was amazing. As a solo traveler, I met so many amazing friends here. Very social, the hosts do their best for that. Everyone is chill and open because of the energy of the place. You won’t regret! Definitely come with a chill mind, without rush or much plans. Go day by day :) Ps. You will fall in love with their sweet dog Lili 🩵

Turkey„One more night“ I don't even know what to say. My stay at Jungle Host was indescribable. I felt right at home from minute 1. Chooti, Diwa and Lili are a great team. Together they bring a wonderful vibe to the accommodation, which is still under construction. Sometimes something doesn't work here and there, but they always find a solution to problems quickly. The boys are super welcoming and when the work is done at lunchtime, there are usually suggestions for an excursion in the evening. If you are relaxed, then this place is pure relaxation and deceleration for you. Everything takes time here, but accepting that I was able to get much closer to the culture. I hope that others feel the same way and that two nights and "one more night" quickly turn into two and a half weeks. I will miss you very much.

Costa RicaFor the price and value, absolutely nothing worth mentioning.
The hosts, Diwa, Chooti and Lily, make this place the best hostel in Sigiriya! They recently opened, and they're working super hard to give guests an amazing experience. They took us to a bunch of secret and beautiful spots in their tuktuk, and they're so much fun to hang out with. They even helped me get a motorbike to rent, which was not easy as everything was rented. They really go above and beyond! I loved the huts too, they're tall and well built, and the beds had mosquito nets. I had and amazing time and was hard to leave ❤️

Greta and I had an amazing stay at Jungle Host hostel. Diwa and chuti were welcoming and super fun. They brought us everywhere and let us experience a lot of typical Sri Lankan culture, like the liquer, food, games, religion, culture etc. From the moment we arrived, we got immediately invited to join the trip to the secret waterfalls and many other activities in the following days. We won’t spoil yet, book your stay here if you want to discover more! We will definitely come back :) Ps. Also a great hostel if you wanna have nice travel pictures, because Diwa is a great photographer;)

ChinaIf you go to Shizi Rock, you can choose to stay here! ! The room is very clean and tidy! The environment is also very comfortable. Breakfast is included for this price! The bosses are very nice. They are all young people. They know a lot of fun places in the local area! They have their own secret base hahahaha! Communicate with them more and let them take you to play. But my time is too tight. It’s a pity that I can’t stay a few more days.

KazakhstanThe hosts were very welcoming and helpful, personally introducing to Sigiriya, offering places to see for the best viewpoints. They can arrange any guided tours you want, around Sigiriya, sharing local tips and hidden spots. Also do the Pidurangala Rock on the surise, it was absolutely beautiful! The dorms are comfortable, well-maintained, and clean, and the common areas are perfect for relaxing. Jungle surroundings create a truly peaceful setting and the hostel itself is buzzing with positive energy. I highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a more authentic travel experience in Sigiriya with a touch of reggae chill=) Thank you Diva & Chooti and cute little puppy Lilly for introducing me beautiful Sigiriya!
