The rooms and bathrooms are a little worn and the house could do with a bit of maintenance. However, this is minor and does not put us off visiting.

This is our second visit to Jungle Tide and we've enjoyed it both times. The setting is lovely and there's lots of space for the children (4 & 7) to run around. Dinners are wonderful and Rani, Martin, Noni and Kenny are really fantastic. We hope to return again.

Jerry has a short temper so I was nervous to say I thought he had overcharged me till I double checked my email (we were dealing in three currencies). When I did and got back to him he claimed my confirmation email from booking.com had been ‘spam’ and I had been misled about the rate so it cost me $50 more for the 6 days than I had expected (a lot in Sri Lanka). I was particularly cross as I tried to pay when I arrived and he wanted me to wait till the end. It was bizarre and disappointing.

Beautiful main house and veranda with a fabulous view. Lots of birds in surrounding area and huge child-friendly swimming pool. Nice walks through tea plantations and easy to get the bus to Kandy. The food was delicious and I was excited to eat a rhubarb crumble made from Sri Lankan rhubarb. Sally the British owner has lovely stories about her life and childhood in Sri Lanka. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Mulberry Cottage needed a good clean and some sprucing up. Also new beds would help as they were pretty uncomfortable.

Sally and Jenny, the owners, were delightful. We stayed in Mulberry Cottage which was a bit grimy while our friends had a much better time of it in the main building. The meals were lovely and the general vibe was very friendly but for us the whole experience was let down by the quality of the accommodation in the annex cottage.
