The location, perched on the edge of the Upland Hapatule area, within high Tea Estates was supreme. . You could see The South coast in the distance and everything in between. The 2 bedroom bungalow had real olde world charm, red painted floors, servants quarters adjacent, where our chef cooked the evening meals to be served in the bungalows dining room. Breakfast was served adjacent to the cottage, consumed while transfixed by the view...I really cannot say enough . Thank you all at Kelburn. Raj was amazing, he did everything he could to make the stay comfortable.

Nothing, it's just what it is

Fantastic cottages in a tea plantion with views from all angles. We had breakfast looking over to tea plantation, lunch on our terrace overlooking the mountains and dinner served to us in our dinner area. The food was superb and the staff anticipated our every need. It was calming and relaxing. There was things to do locally but when your here the only thing you can do is nothing. Bliss

The road to get to the Estate is a bit bumpy, but our tuktuk handled it very well.

It was like going to the old days! We had a whole cottage for ourselves. Our bedroom had a terrace that faced a tea plantation and was lovely! And, we had breakfast and dinner brought to our cottage. What else can you ask for? Ravi, the manager was very attentive to our requests and the place is very close to Haputale.

Breakfast was USD15 per person and dinner USD 25, value is still good but could have better informed guests about pricing beforehand. Some of the furnishings a bit dated and old.

The location with the view and the surroundings. Meals were. Staff was great. The 3 rooms were all nice

There is nothing outside of the estate for miles except the local town which has nothing to offer so it feels isolated. Track into the estate is very rocky and uneven, tuk tuks can negotiate it but our driver in a car couldn't and got stuck.

Beautiful views, very peaceful, great service

Although it is listed in the facilities, an electric kettle was not provided. When we asked for it they said it's broken and they will bring tea whenever we need. But when I need to drink hot water in the middle of the night because of sore throat since it's a cold climate and I'm dressed for bed, I don't want the staff to come in bringing tea. It's my first time in a hotel without an electric kettle. So after complaining a few times they finally gave us one but it was too late, I had caught a cold. The network connection was poor. A menu with the prices would be nice.

A beautiful tea estate sheltering three cottages with old charm overlooking far across mountain ranges and lakes. We stayed at the two bedroom Aerie cottage for two nights. The staff was very attentive and served us a delicious local breakfast in our dinning room. We had a memorable stay and would love to come again.

A delightful place to stay a few days. Inspiring views, gorgeous gardens and tea estate, great cottages with blissfully quiet terraces, and incredibly thoughtful and professional staff. Do ask the team to help you organise hiking and sightseeing in the area - there is a lot to see in beautiful Haputale, and you won't regret it.

    Nothing.

The location provides breathtaking mountain views, nestled amongst tea plantations in beautifully landscaped gardens. Our 2 person cottage was cosy and comfortable and on clear mornings you could see far off mountain ranges and lakes in the distance from our balcony. It was a very unique experience being served delicious breakfast in such a serene and stunning location. The staff were hospitable and professional and the evening meals generous and delicious. We took a tuk tuk to Lipton’s seat and walked to Dambatene Tea Factory- a 90 minute walk down hill through tea plantations and pickers cottages which was a worthwhile and interesting experience. The older buildings on the property also give an insight into life on a tea plantation in colonial times.

Internet didn't work very well due to the location.

Aerie Cottage was a wonderful old spacious bungalow with 2 bedrooms which suited my sister and I. Delicious breakfast served to us on terrace with an amazing view over tea plantations, mountains and lakes. Our dinners were served in our own dining room by our chef. Our every need during our 3 day stay was met by our `House boy' Rada. Beautiful walks in the tea plantations.

A menu with meal/drink options would be helpful so we know the prices and what is available.

Stunning hillside tea estate overlooking the whole southern plains - our cottage was modern, clean and very comfortable with the best view from room and balcony. Staff were all very kind and helpful, and we were the only guests which made it seem very luxurious. Meals were exceptional and we loved sitting on the lawn terrace in afternoon enjoying the view. First afternoon we walked to Kelburne Rock on estate roads amongst the tea pickers - great cobblestone road and outstanding views. Next day we walked back to KE all the way from Lipton’s seat which was great (via lower village road from Dambatenne). A perfect stay here.

Stunning views from a superb 'colonial' style cottage on a tea estate
    • Leisure trip

    • Three-Bedroom Cottage with Mountain View

The only thing that could be improved was perhaps the pillows and or soft furnishings in the main bedroom. In an area that can receive so much rain in a short period of time there was a slight 'musty' smell that might be associated with the damp climate. Unfortunately this is perhaps something to be expected but could be improved if the pillows were changed. I should add that I'm not referring to pillowcases etc, as these were very well laundered. (Also, If travelling with small children do be aware that there are a number of stone steps from reception down to the cottage.)

The cottage on this tea estate represents a glimpse the 'colonial past' It is in a fabulous location with stunning views. The lounge area is huge. Breakfast can be taken on the patio with the wide French doors open. The staff were exceptional, even offering to light a fire despite the intense heat outside. (But it was during a thunder storm so understandable.) Dinner & Breakfast the next morning was everything and more than you could want or eat. What a shame we could only stay one night. A great place to relax or chill for a couple of days at least.
