Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Location was good away from the overcrowded super turisty main beach yet in walkable diatance to Mirissa beach and 5min tuktuk ride to weligama. There js also small kust next to the property you can have for yourself - no waves so safe even for the small kids. Good breakfast included. Nice personnel wirh limited english but no issue. Good value for money.they dont have fridge in the room but two large fridges in the common area you can use.

United StatesSuper friendly family, very helpful and flexible. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Location is very good 15-20 min walk to the beach or the main road, very close to bus station. We used it to get to Weligama for surfing and also Galla. Room is classic guesthouse Sri Lanka room, very minimal with big balcony but unfortunately also minimal view of the sea. There is a very large building blocking most of the view but some rooms have better view. We stayed for 3 nights during new year eve so it was more pricey, but in normal days I think it’s worth the price- if you are comfortable with this guesthouses style. ! For hot water turn right and wait patiently (:

FinlandHmm a bed side table could have been nice, and there was some problems with the electricity sockets. Otherwise everything was good!
The location is nice with a sea view from your bed. The bed is very comfortable, and the place is fresh and clean. The owner lady is very nice and helpful, and they arranged Airport transfer for a good price.

United KingdomListen, I’m not going to moan about anything, cracking value for a great holiday.
Loved it here. Family atmosphere run by a very attentive family. Nothing is too much trouble, for the money it is absolutely amazing. The rooms are big, and the 4 poster bed was comfortable. It’s a 2 minute walk to a lovely secluded beach. Highly recommended!!

CanadaThere is another building that is blocking the view of the beach. We asked for the WiFi password and it took the owners 5min to find it. 😅 You would think the WiFi password should be written on the wall somewhere to make it easier for guests. The owners have some dogs that are friendly but were barking in the night. The breakfast was okay, very simple. Mostly bread, fruit and eggs, no coconut roti or curry. The air-conditioner was acting a bit weird. Sometimes it would blow cold air, and sometimes it would blow room temperature air. No hot water in the showers.
Nice big rooms and bathroom. Very clean. Close to a small beach that has less waves than the main beach so it is better for swimming and has a great sunset. Owners were very kind.

United KingdomThe smell was awful, the ‘sea view’ was absolutely not how displayed. The view is actually of some derelict buildings. The staff were unhelpful and didn’t even know we were coming. The air-con didn’t work and there were bugs in the bed, the toilet also smelt badly of urine.

HungaryThe place is a cosy Sri Lankan local guest house. The hosts are a nice family, they offered us tea when we arrived, and made great local breakfast with fruits. They also helped us find transfer to our next destination. Local shops, restaurants and beaches are in walking distance. By choosing this place, we feel like we could really contribute to a local business despite being a mainstream tourist.

United Arab EmiratesI wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone who needs reliable internet or any internet, really. During the day, it’s like the Wi-Fi packed up and left for a better life. Late at night, you might catch a fleeting glimpse of connectivity, but don’t get your hopes up it’s slower than trying to send an email via carrier pigeon. If you need to work while away, stay far, far away. Now, for the main event: the comedy of errors. I booked three nights here but decided to cut my losses after two because, well, no internet equals no point. Thinking I’d already paid through Booking.com, I didn’t bother telling the house sitter I was leaving early. What could possibly go wrong? A lot, apparently. About 10 minutes after I left, my phone started blowing up. Instead of a polite “Hey, just checking about the payment,” I got a full-blown accusation of theft. Yep, a fugitive on the run over a $100 AUD stay. Naturally, I turned the getaway car around, cash in hand, to resolve the issue. When I got there, things somehow got even weirder. As I tried to explain that I left early due to the lack of internet, the house sitter started accusing me of stealing while I was literally handing her the money. I couldn’t help but laugh partly because of the absurdity, and partly because I suspected she was just salty about losing the chance to double-book the room last minute. In all my travels including to some real hellholes. I’ve never encountered a situation quite like this. Avoid this place unless you enjoy the thrill of bad internet, baseless accusations, and high drama.

IndiaTravelling with family .List includes but not limited to 1. We were given a room with ants crawling on bed. When complained said it's mistake of the "Indians" before us. She kept on said "you know, you know" , to which I had to say sternly "NO I DON'T" As you don't know all Sri Lankans how do you expect me to know all Indians ?? ( India is definitely bigger in size and stature to say the least 😁). 2. The chairs were old and broken too. When complained, again same story. 3. Finally room got changed to 2nd floor saying that can give oy one room. It's bathroom had a very bad smell, when asked didn't had any answer and just opened the window as there was no exhaust. 4. View is of a dumpster , an open drain which goes into sea and that's their beach. 5. They have made some settings , by which even if you search with breakfast included the price (exuberantly high) it confirms without breakfast only(another way of minting money it seems). When questioned, owner started to show bookings of other foreigners who are currently staying and willingly paying for breakfast and all. ( How can you show someone else's booking to someone? What about security & privacy?? Guess these things doesn't exist in their dictionary!!) 6. The owner lives on the ground floor and there is always a staunch smell from there, you didn't even feel like having a breakfast there. 7. The kitchen where the food is cooked is very dirty and smelly. 8. The room allotted to us was very shabby and no door lock, we have to literally use the keys even to latch the door from inside. 9. On top is that, self received a msg that "How did the lock of my room is not working ?" Seems either the owner are living in a fantasy world , as if they have 7 layers of security. There is only one shabby door with key lock and to keep it intact is more essential to me as my all stuff was inside the room.
Nothing to like at this pathetic homestay.
