We didn’t have any complaints about the hotel- it was what we expected! The only things I would mention are the breakfast could be improved, the towels were very old and scruffy as was the cushions for the sun loungers. The bathroom looked like it had been partly updated except for the shower which really needed replacing. We did have hot water though!

Laya Waves is in the most beautiful location. It’s right on a stunning beach. It’s a small hotel which has a lovely feel to it. The staff were friendly and helpful. They tried to teach us some Sri Lankan ! The views from the balcony are amazing. There’s lots of nice restaurants close by which did amazing seafood. Just turn right out of the hotel and keep walking. There’s an ATM nearby and a little mini market. We loved the street dogs that visited, especially Hopper who only had 3 working legs !

The location is stunning, swimming pool is huge and well maintained. Stunning view on the ocean. Not many tourists so you feel like you are on your own on a beautiful clean beach. Rooms were ok and big enough with great view. Food was good too and staff was very kind.

Staircase to the upstairs of our room was very steep and often times difficult to climb up. Water pressure from the shower was weak. Limited variation of food offered at the buffet for breakfast and evening dinner.

Welcome drinks were tasty. Staff were very friendly. Room was nice and balcony provided a great view. Outdoor furniture provided and extra furniture provided within the room. Also a kitchen installed, useful for long stays. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was spacious.

The photographs are extremely misleading and were clearly taken when the hotel was built. The property requires significant maintenance and is not suitable for a family holiday. There was no hot water in the Deluxe Family Suite and, at times, no water at all. Water poured through the smoke alarm when it rained. The suite was filthy and has clearly never been cleaned properly due to the sticky residue over all surfaces and general build up of grime. There was a major issue with the drainage, which resulted in the most revolting smell in our bathroom and also our bedroom when the door was opened - overwhelming sewer gases, which made us feel nautious, were leaking out of an open connection at the back of the toilet. Some of the staff were nice and tried, but the service was not great. We had to repeatedly ask for basic provisions. The pool was very murky. The hot food buffet was served cold on one night. The hotel is run by the army, and according to our driver, it is not meant for foreign tourists, although there were other foreign guests, also unhappy with the experience. We booked for 5 nights and were so disappointed when we initially arrived that we tried to find alternative accommodation. However, as it was high season, everywhere else was fully booked. In the end, we left after 3 nights and continued with our trip elsewhere. This hotel ruined what was meant to be the relaxing part of our holiday. The management didn't apologise or really understand our concerns.

Let me tell you, it was awesome! The room was super cosy and had everything I needed. The staff were really cool and helpful, making us feel right at home. Plus, the location was spot-on. All in all, We had a great time and can't wait to go back!

Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very good. We ordered some meals for our dinner selecting from the alacarte menu. It was so delisious and portion also great that we didnt expect. Thanks to the cheff and all the supportive staff. I have no doubts in recomending the hotel for any body who wants to see pasikuda and around with great comforts.

The manager lady is careless about our money.see try to cheat for money by adding a unnecessary change by telling about booking.com children policy.but she couldnt charge extra because she couldnt prove it.but she did by dollar to rupees conversation by wrong figure .one dollar price was 320 rupees.but see used one dollar price by 330 rupees .due it was only 830.00 rupees,i paid it by without any objection.But as a manager it is a big mistake.

The hotel is in desperate need of renovations. The Bathrooms are in very bad shape, there was mold everywhere in the shower. We asked the management about it, but they didn’t unterstand our request. The smell in the bathrooms was that disgusting, so we couldn’t stay any longer. It seems the hotel is very poorly managed. The room was dirty from the beginning and there was no cleaning during our stay. We had to shorten our stay, it was unbearable. We can’t recommend the hotel in this shape.

The Location in front of the Kalkudah Beach is great, rough sea but very beautiful It’s a shame the Location is absolutely perfect, it could be one of the best beach stays in Sri Lanka The staff was friendly and tried their best
