How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We stayed for a few nights after travelling around Sri Lanka. We were originally put in a room which faced the central walkway - so everyone could and did look straight into the bedroom. We complained and wanted to move, and fortunately a beachside view was available. It was great to be moved, but if we didn’t have that option, we would have moved hotel. But beachside was lovely, the staff very helpful and it capped off the holiday.

Very nice hotel, excellent price (although we got a late deal as we booked same day). Nice breakfast - although it was a fixed price buffet with no option to choose a la carte, so a little more than we wanted to eat /pay for.

Price is too high for such bad rooms. First day it was even dirty, old furniture and price after I booked was twice cheaper than I did booked. Photos are better than reality

The doors don't automatically lock - this seems to be normal for Sri Lanka but felt odd to me. Breakfast was not good. Staff in the restaurant were unfriendly.
We got a sea-view room upgrade which was amazing! Our room was lovely and couldn't fault it at all. The lady on the front desk went above and beyond.

Expected to find hoppers on the local menu, and more variety in fruits for breakfast. However, preparations were very tasty, and we were able to get egg-white omelettes exactly as we wanted.
Excellent location, very welcoming staff. Lots of shops, restaurants and other eateries nearby. Clean beach and crystal clear waters.

Maybe that they didnt have somthing as plain as granola ( they had run out ) during breakfast hours. The water doesnt flow rapidly down the drain when showering, could be worth looking into.
Beautiful spacious rooms, really comfortable beds, close to everything you’ll need in hikkaduwa and definately worth a visit. Wonderful staff.

It was noisy at night, with drunk people shouting and singing at 1am. Plus their cigarette smoke smell came into my room, even with the door closed. It would have been appreciated if a staff member could control their behaviour.
Welcoming and helpful staff. The pool is great and I managed to do some laps in the morning before others used it. Good location, a short walk to surf spots to the south. Get the Sri Lankan meal for dinner - it’s worth the hour wait. The outside bathroom and garden are a nice feature.

They didn’t have enough deck chairs for guests and allowed people to put towels on chairs for whole day . We had to go to another hotel and pay to have a deck chair . Our room was above the restaurant area and we heard noise from downstairs when sleeping.

We’d already read from previous reviews that the hotel wasn’t exactly like the photos (it’s older and more run down) so our expectations were lowered before arrival, so I believe that if you understand that and accept it, it won’t disappoint at all. I would still recommend!!
Staff was amazing, always super attentive and kind! Service was pretty good and the location was amazing! Breakfast was pretty diverse and there was lots to chose from. Our double-floored room was comfortable and it had everything we needed! We were allowed an early check-in, everything was clean and nice! Would definitely recommend!

You can see the property is a bit old and not super well curated. The cleanliness can definitely be improved as well as the food they serve. We have stayed there for 3 nights with breakfast included and the food is okay but nothing typical from Sri Lanka. One thing to know: you pay as soon as you arrive at the hotel (which is not what I am used to) and made our arrival a bit uncomfortable.
The hotel itself is nice and really close to the beach. The staff is super helpful and made our stay better. The hotel organised an amazing Christmas Eve night, with music, devil dances, fireworks, buffet and Santa Claus. That definitely made our stay more enjoyable!

One day was no hot water and we didn’t like that billiards was with extra payment but in bad condition

Breakfast for 2500 LKR is pricey.
Amazing staff, clean hotel and room, also very nice decorated. Nice pool and location at sea. The sea at the hotel is not very safe for a swim. On walking distance there is turtle bay, where you can swim safe. Price of the room was good value for money
