We couldn't sleep properly as the fan sounded like a helicopter and the AC you could only turn on and off and when it was on blasted freezing air at the bed.

The room was clean and the location was excellent. The room was small but good value for money.

A lovely family running New Planet Guest we're very kind and always smiling. The location is very close to the beach which is great for beach walks. I already had my own scooter rented to zipping into town for dinner was not a problem. I suspect the walk wouldn't be too far either.

The bathroom wasn't particularly clean when we arrived, with leftover pubic hairs on the toilet. The toilet seat was very thin and I worried it would crack each time I sat on it. We never managed to get a hot shower, but occasionally would get warm water in the middle of the day. The bed and pillows were a little uncomfortable and the room contained a cot, which whilst good for a family, was unnecessary for us and took up a lot of room which would have been useful for space to keep our luggage instead. The room we stayed in was the first in the row of upstairs rooms and has both a window at the side and a full glass front which meant the curtains had to be kept fully drawn at all times so other guests didn't see in to the room whilst we were in it and isn't ideal. The temple across the road was wonderful to watch the comings and goings, but there were events over loudspeaker all day, every day which wasn't the most restful experience. However, our friend stayed down the road and was kept up all night from music, so the day time noise isn't so bad and can't be helped by New Planet, just full disclosure. Overall, I enjoyed our stay in Mirissa and at New Planet and it was good value for money.

Nuwan and his wife were very polite hosts. They arranged an air port transfer for us which was very helpful, and waited around through our delay for us. New Planet Guest is most definitely a budget guest house and was good value for what we paid. There was a large, 4 poster bed with mosquito net, plug in mosquito repellent which we really needed! The room itself was clean with nice marble flooring, a table, mini fridge, towel rack and a kettle with cups - no in room tea/coffee available. The room was a good size, and whilst no private balcony, the upstairs rooms share a balcony with chairs and tables where you eat your breakfast and can just enjoy all of the lovely plants growing upstairs, the peacocks and chipmunks who frequent the garden next door and overlooks the temple across the road which is always busy with something going on! The bathroom had a powerful shower and included hand soap. There was the option to buy water at the guest house, as well as discounts on whale tours and options for bike rental. The breakfast was simple, typical Sri Lankan offering of fruits, eggs, pastry or rotti with Sri Lankan style tea or coffee.

Good location from Mirissa Beach, about 11 minutes walk, and about 15 minutes walk from Secret Beach. Near the main street, about 5 minutes walk. Hosts gave me a portable light when there was a 30 minute power outage at night. Bathroom was modern looking and very clean, shower has water heater as well. Hosts were really nice and helpful. Wifi connection was strong in the room.

Everything was perfect. Location was excellent. Breakfast was really good and huge. Rooms was clean and we really liked it, that we had fridge inside the room. Nuwan and his family were really nice and helpful for everything we needed. It was one of the best staying during 3 weeks in Srilanka. First we booked room just for two days, in the end we stayed 6 days. If one day we come back to Srilanka, for sure we will come back to Planet guest house.

The room was dirty. When i enter the room, i directly got the dirty smell. The sheets smell bad and they were very dirty. I think they dont clean up for every each guest. The pictures in application and the reality dont match

The family was rarely seen during our stay at daytime, but at nighttime they had a celebration right in front of our room. On the day of check out we left early and asked for a take away breakfast which was refused even though it was included in the price. Breakfast is only from 8 to 10 a.m. at the hotel. And we were told that we would get breakfast at our whale tour anyway. We booked the room with a balcony which was more expensive than another room, but apparently all the rooms have a shared balcony. Rooms have glass all around so you need to close the curtains all the time.
