The resort is self-contained so apart from tourism and activities there’s no reason to leave. Having said that, it is a little bit out of the way and about a 15 minute ride into the town. But this is only a minor concern.

This is a small, quiet resort and every room has a spectacular ocean frontage. The beach is just metres away. The near-deserted beach is beautiful for swimming. Meals are very good and the staff are friendly and courteous. The resort is incredible value for money.

    Nothing.

Pearl Oceanic's accommodation is located right by the sea. It is peaceful and you will be rocked to sleep by the sound of the waves. In February, the ocean is quite rough but it's fine to swim if you are a strong swimmer. For those who aren't, if you head left up the beach (as you look at the sea) and walk for about 20 minutes you will reach a part which is protected by a coral reef, where the water is very shallow, so totally safe for swimming. We had a lovely, well equipped room with a good en suite and a veranda. Powered by solar panels, we had copious hot water from a powerful shower. Rare in Sri Lanka. We also had bedside lamps which are also uncommon on the island. Quite a treat. The bed was very comfortable. The staff at Oceanic Pearl don't own the place but are charming and helpful. Krishan runs the front desk and organises transport quickly if you want to get into Trinco (less than 20 mins by tuk tuk) or anywhere else, and you will get great table service from Glendis and Ianika. Pearl Oceanic's chef, Suresh, cooks up excellent meals. There's a very wide choice on the menu (something for everyone) . We had some delicious grilled Travelli fish and many marvellous curries. The breakfast is huge and very tasty. To top it all, if you are a cat lover, there's a gorgeous one called Treasha and a lovely pet dog. Although located in quite a remote spot, it is easy to get a tuk tuk from Pearl Oceanic to busier places. Pearl Oceanic's pool is very clean and big enough. We would definitely stay here again. There is a little shop near by and GP clinic.

Spacious, comfortable and clean rooms with all facilities. Amazing view of the sea, forcing you to stay there for more days. Extra mats, broom, etc to make sure extra cleanliness. Bathroom is fully equipped. They have a broad menu for food and a swimming pool to chill. Absolute value for money!

Access to the place is very difficult. It's remote and not easy to drive in, even with a tuk tuk. Place needs some maintenance.

Nice relaxing place directly at the wonderful beach. Liked the pool that was always kept clean. Food in the restaurant was very good.

There were a few dogs around the property. While we’re not particularly fond of dogs, it wasn’t a big issue.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Pearl Ocean Resort for two nights, and it was an incredible experience. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the private beach access, uncrowded, and ideal for relaxation. It truly felt like our home. The hotel was wonderful, offering a calm and peaceful atmosphere that made unwinding easy. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home.

It was a very nice stay and the place was very nice. The cottages were just beside the beach. It had all the facilities required for a comfortable stay and what we really liked was that it was not a run of the mill type of resort with the same type of decor. It was very artistically decorated with a minimalistic style which added to the charm of this quaint place. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would recommend for anyone who loves a rustic and quaint place for a relaxing stay.

Room amenities are basic, not enough point to charge phone laptop ect, maybe its the season so many flies and insects. Beach could have been made better by putting up deck chairs and umbrella directly there but all these are in the resort compound so beach is bare.

great staff, location very tranquil and quiet. Breakfast was good also and reasonably priced, Had dinner once was also ok.Internet works well,

Little bits not finished off eg semi painted bathroom wall, need a second coat. Instructions for the shower, we didn’t think it worked BUT you had to turn a switch, and then it did!

Quiet situation, so laid back and relaxing, nice staff, helpful manager , right on the lovely beach, about 15 mins from town. Breakfast ok, other cooked food very good. Has a pool but we didn’t use. The room was fine , beds comfy , kettle useful, good Wifi. This is not a luxurious hotel but great for relaxation after touring

Pearl oceanic resort is really a pearl, it is a small ressort with sea view bedroom, people their are super nice and make you feel the best, the beach is absolutly beautiful and you feel alone on it. Same for the swimming pool, sometime you feel like it is your personal one. It is not very recent but doesn't matter, my favorite hotel in sri lanka so far !

    We loved it all.

Absolutely beautiful location right on gorgeous white deserted Sandy beach, lots of beautiful shells and calm turquoise waters. The hotel is peaceful, not too many rooms so feels very private, hammocks and sun beds outside our room, with private terrace. Fabulous pool to cool off in and beanbags to lounge and read! Amazing curries and great food all round. Set in a coconut grove, this was our most expensive but favourite place we stayed in throughout our three weeks of travel.

The place is a little out of the main town / tourist area so tuktuks and bike rentals are more expensive, but you can get cheaper rentals in town - Uppuveli side. There are also more food options there so we did have meals at the hotel.

It's a great location, right on the beach in a quite area, perfect for soaking in the sun and enjoying time by yourself or using it as a base to explore options near around. Very comfortable room with wifi, mini fridge, ac, kettle etc - and we had three beds giving enough space for a family with kids. Breakfast is good, and staff helpful in arranging transport or connecting you for activities as needed. We went diving with Poseidon Diving in Nelaveli and they were great.

This was our second visit to this hidden gem of a small resort, and it was even better this time. Rooms are simple, clean and with basic amenities. Each room is directly facing pristine beach. Plenty of options to have meals either in the garden infront of the rooms or in thier small restaurant. Food was so yummy and also generous portions.

Nothing although for some it may be a little out of the way.

Beachfront location- what is there not to like like. Beach was clean and easily accessed with outdoor shower for a rinse off before returning to our room. Scrumptious breakfast and great staff who looked after us so well. The pool was deliciously cool and room a good size with working air conditioning and fan.

At first the place seemed à bit basic but it grew on us as it was very clean and the owner knows what travellers want in terms of basics as well as little things : good internet , , good reading light, ample plugs, etc etc.

As the owner said, this is not your 5 star hotel. But if you are looking for quiet, tranquility, good swimming, lovely staff and fresh seafood, hanging out with a good book, this is a great place..Nice to have the pool as back up as well. It is easy to ask for a tuk tuk to go into town for some busy time, which we did. But once was enough.(.the restaurants geared to tourists there matches those at home.) It was nice though to see Trinco beach. Be aware, as with most Sri Lankan beaches, plastics wash up to the beaches in their "off season" and the hôtels do their best to collect these mainly off shore offerings.

    Loved it all.

The place was as described, itemised and photographed, you got what they said you would. The views from the chalet rooms were perfect, the beach empty, a few outside showers by the fence after being on the beach or in the sea is lovely. Beach/pool towels a bonus. Room had kettle, teabags, coffee, fan, a/c, bedside lamps, wardrobe that did not smell mouldy, 2 clothes dryer racks etc The food was really good, some items a little different which was delightful and good value too. The manager and all the staff are totally wonderful. The owners/whoever hired them youve found some really super people to work here. Kind, thoughtful and nothing is too much trouble. There were a few local shops and its a quiet area to walk around. For more beach restaurants, shops, stores they are about 10 minute drive. Beware Some cafes/restaurants on the beach are expensive. I am pleased they don't clean the room and change bedding/towels daily - totally unnecessary and if that's what you want, go to a 5* hotel and pay a lot more!
