Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SerbiaBefore booking check with the owner about the number of people in the room, photos are not accurate. We planned trip for 4 people and on the photos of accommodation it looked like we would need two bedrooms. When we came, each room had two double beds which means we could’ve easily booked only one room for all of us.
Clean room and toilet. You need 15-20 minutes by foot to the Unawatuna beach. They have a fen on the sealing and a mosquito net over every bed.

IndiaNothing as such as I a more of a backpacker traveler. But if you are someone who likes luxury, then you may not like this place much. It gets hot during the day and there's just a fan in the room with big windows. I didn't have any problem though!
What a peaceful location! One of the best stays of my whole Sri Lanka trip. It is hosted by a local family. They have very cute 2 dogs. Very friendly. Nearby to railway station, bus station and just 20 mins walk from Unawatuna Beach. Jungle beach is bit far if you want to walk but if you are taking a tuktuk or a bike, then it's just 10 mins away. If you want a budget stay around Galle, then this is the best one. Galle is just 15 mins away if you take a bus or tuktuk.

United KingdomThere was no indication of breakfast being provided, either when I arrived or any of the mornings. The location is also okay (shops very close), but there are definitely closer options to the beach.
The owners were lovely, very friendly and helpful! Everything in the room was as expected, it was a large single room with a clean and working bathroom (I didn't try the hot water).

PolandOwner and his family were very welcoming and helpful. There was a mosquito net and very good fan. Guesthouse is located close to shop, restaurant and a bus stop which is very convenient. During the evening walk to our house we were lucky to see fireflies. Everything was perfect! Fair price for the value!

United KingdomThe pillows were a little hard but everything else was so good we didnt mind!
The owner of the guesthouse is so lovely! He gave us coffee every morning and was an amazing person to talk too, he even invited us into his kitchen to try his homemade sri lankan food (delicious)! You can see monkeys in the trees early in the morning from the balcony whilst you drink your coffee. The room and bathroom were a good size. We would definitely stay again! Thank you

Czech RepublicI don't know, maybe the door to the room (or the vents above it) were slightly dusty.
I loved staying here. It's close to the bus stop/railway station/main road but at the same time, it's a little bit tucked away and pretty quiet. There's a lot of greenery around, mango trees, guava trees, coconut trees, you name it. The room and the bed were clean and comfortable and the Wifi worked very well. The owner welcomed me heartily and overall, he was just very warm and kind. He lent me his torch in case of powercuts (its light was quite intense so during the power cuts, it was a very powerful source of light). I also ate there on a couple of occassions and the food was delicious.

New ZealandThe rolling power blackouts, which are no fault of the hotel.
It's cheaply priced in a good location between Galle and unawatuna beach and very close to unawatuna railway station. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

RussiaNothing.
Spacious room. Extremely hospitable hosts. Walkable distance to the main Unawatuna beach and the Jungle beach. The fastest Wi-Fi connection that I had in Sri Lanka. While checking-in I was offered breakfasts and dinners for less than 2 USD for each, ended up staying on a half-board. Breakfasts were filling and pretty good; dinners were very delicious. Cargills grocery store just 4 minutes away.

PolandThere is a hole instead of window in bathroom and there were ants, we had a cockroach 🪳, and mosquito nets smell bad, we slept without it. I recommend to have a mosquito repellent which you can plug in to the socket. And there was only one socket. we had a adapter so it was not a problem for us. It’s not in the Main Street, but still it is pretty loud in the morning, and there is a sanctuary close by. Hard pillows and bed.
Good localisation, close to the train station and bus stops. 15 min by walking to the beach and 40 to jungle beach. Our things were moved to our room when it was not ready yet. it was very nice. Nice owner and his family. He was always eager to answer questions. The price is very low but still our room was clean, clean bed, clean bathroom. There are some restaurants close by and a supermarket just like 5 min walking. There is a bench in front of the room, it is nice to spend there some time. Nice and friendly dogs.
