Location and a lovely staff

A lot of items needed to be replenished at the breakfast buffet. Table placemats were very dirty. Despite asking for cleaner ones, the replacement placemats were as dirty.

Huge thanks to Thilini and Tha Sro at the reception desk for being so helpful. Thanks also to the pool guy (sorry forgot his name) for the great service (found chairs, brought us towels and good refreshing drinks). This was well appreciated following our ascension of the Rock!

The pool area is a little tired but still very nice. The buffet dinner is ok.

The cottage room is quite old and definitely needs some renovation even though it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was quite basic, with just a few choices for guests who can't eat spicy food. Flies were everywhere; you'd better eat your food as soon as possible; if you leave your food on the table, be sure flies will sit on your plate. I understand that the breakfast facility is outside, but there should be a way to do something about it. Overall, i don't think it deserves 5 stars. 4 stars is a maximum for such a hotel.

The location was perfect, just a short drive from the Lion Rock. The garden surrounding the pool is green and beautiful, and you can see the rock from the pool and the pool bar. They prepared non-spicy dinner for me when I i told them I was allergic to spices. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.and generally , service was good.

Beautiful location and the grounds are stunning and relaxing. Near to the rock and many restaurants and cafes and elephant safari. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Definitely one of the pricier places we stayed in Sri Lanka - probably due to the views. A lovely stay.

Some of the linen smelt a bit damp but I’m sure they would have replaced it if we asked. We were only there on a short trip.

Location was fantastic and the staff were very welcoming. We loved the view of Sigiriya Rock from the pool. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were comfy. The hotel has a good atmosphere.

The rooms could be better maintained - door and walls to be painted in the bathroom and floor to be washed daily.

Excellent stay. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice of pastries and hot food. A good variety for lunch including burgers and club sandwiches. A selection of drinks - cocktails and beer. Excellent location to see lions rock (although it is advised not to go out the property about 6:30pm due to wild elephants). Staff were incredibly friendly and would go above and beyond for you. Dinner was a buffet with lots of traditional food as well as bread, fruit, pasta dishes, popadoms and a good variety of desserts.

Some rooms are en route to the reception and close to the bar. They can be quite noisy at peak times. We moved after first night.

The costs of drinks in the hotel really are quite steep!

The property needs renovation. Specially my rooms had rusted shower heads and broken amenities.

Amazing location, specially the pool and bar facing the lion rock is stunning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Service was very good.

Don’t take a room on the walkway from the bar/lounge as it gets morning and evening traffic….everyone chats in the way to from bfast/dinner…..

Location is great with the most unbelievable view of Lions Rock from the bar/chillout area. Rooms are really nice and we stayed in room 7 which was great!! We got great value at $120 inc bfast and taxes

The service is a bit slow And the music is very loud at night I tried the massage. The oil they used was cold and the massage room was not closed so I can hear everything happening on the outside

Although not the hotel fault a huge group of teenagers were staying who were incredibly loud during the night. Not helped by us having to get up for a hot air balloon flight. We ordered a taxi from the airport which did not arrive. Some staffs appeared very junior and inexperienced in dealing with problems/ issues. But sure time will improve this.

Unfortunately room was very small, dark and not so clean. Hotel definately needs some renovation… We were also dissapointed about the food quality and service.

Nice location with beautiful view on the Sigiriya Rock and only 10 minutes by walk to restaurants/bars/shops. Very good spa service - amazing Ajurveda massage provided by Ashoka!

The stand-up for this venue was, hands down, the pool and the view to Sigiriya Rock! Unbeatable. This was the incentive for our stay. We enjoyed the outdoor dining and communal areas. The buffet dinner was extensive and varied, with both Sri Lankan and Western food that suited our family. All the food was very fresh and delicious. The location was very good, being so close to Sigiriya Rock. We especially enjoyed being shown the wildlife around the hotel grounds by one of the knowledgeable staff.

Considering it is a five star hotel, the rooms were basic.

The hotel obviously uses the view of Sigiriyia Rock, which was great from the pool, as it's main selling point. The buffet breakfast was ok
