Anjelo was truely the perfect host! He was so welcoming and provided fascinating stories and information about his culture, Ella and his life. The lodge is upstairs above his home, providing privacy with a beautiful view of the mountains. It was an easy 10min walk into town and Anjelo helped organise Tuk Tuks for our daily adventures. The facilities were spotless - he thought of everything! 10/0 recommend for anyone thinking of staying in Ella. We already want to go back!!

Plus, he's great company! The place is stunning, with a perfect location and a luxurious room. Surrounded by nature, we spotted amazing wildlife, especially the adorable Grizzled Giant Squirrel! All was more than good.

Quiet located in a green surrounding but still in 5 minute walking distance to the village center. The room was comfy and the spacious balcony was amazingly inviting to relax and enjoy the scenery. Angelo is a very nice and polite host who serves an excellent lankan breakfast with the help by his lovely mom ; ) Additionally Angelo is very helpful with great tips for the Ella region.

One of our favorite accommodations during our trip through Sri Lanka. It is a short walk from the main station away from the noisy center and at the end of a more quiet street right be the jungle. It offers a super comfy communal terrace/chill area which is decorated with a lot of personality and attention to details. From there you can watch the nature in front of you and might even catch a glimpse of the giant squirrel or other exotic animals. The room we had was cozy and very clean. Had a great night's sleep there while listening to the sounds of nature. Highlight of the place is the host Angelo, who is just an overall awesome person and who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Whether it's the chocolate cakes and tea upon arrival, serving us huge mountains of Sri Lankan breakfast every morning, letting us shower in an unoccupied room after we came back from a hike while already checked out or filling up our 5 liter water container before leaving, we really couldn't have asked for more. On top of that we had some nice conversations and received helpful recommendations. Thanks a lot for the great hospitality and hope to seeing you again.

Beautiful location surrounded by lush green forest but literally a 5 minute walk from train station or into main part of Ella. Property was spotless with a lovely large communal balcony - bedroom was amazing - had comfortable large bed with en-suite shower room - towels and toiletries provided. Angelo is a friendly, knowledgeable host who is ready to give you recommendations for eating/ sightseeing/hiking. You will not regret booking here.

Facing green as if you are in the jungle; yet controlled environment with no bug. We saw some squirrels and birds right at the tree outside! Angelo is very friendly, helpful and has good restaurant and massage recommendations.

This is an absolute gem. Located slightly outside the noisy center, you're surrounded by the jungle, and might be able to spot the giant squirrel. The room and terrace are big, comfortable, and very clean. There is a lot of attention to detail when it comes to decoration, we loved it. One of the best value for money accommodations we had in Sri Lanka. Plus Angelo is very nice and helpful! Look no further, book here, you won't be disappointed.

The owner was incredibly helpful and accomadating for any questions or needs we had, he would go above and beyond for anything we needed. The hotel was in a great location close walking distance to Ella town, with some nice bars on the way. Beautiful outlook over greenery and lovely renovated rooms available. The upstairs patio was very nice.

Just a short walk from the busy Main Street, this property is a quiet oasis with jungle views. We spotted amazing wildlife each morning whilst enjoying the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. Angelo, the host is super friendly and very accommodating.

Absolutely brilliant, I'm so glad we read all the reviews and found this hidden gem! What a great place, it will definitely keep getting amazing reviews so don't think twice about booking it! Some reviewers thought it was 'out of town' which we thought was hilarious, it's a couple of minutes walk down to the action, but with the reassurance that you can retreat to a peaceful jungle like setting with a really good chance of seeing the resident giant squirrel. Charming, chatty, helpful host who welcomed us with lovely coffee and cake, we felt very spoilt! He organised a very good taxi to the South Coast for a much better price than other places. Thank you so much, you made the trip to Sri Lanka very special!

One of the most unforgettable stays I've had in my life. The lodge is beautifully nestled in the jungle, yet surprisingly, it's only a 5-minute walk to the city and train station. The room is well-equipped with everything you need, and Angelo, the host, will go out of his way to cater to any special requests you may have. Speaking of Angelo, he's an incredibly kind and helpful soul who embodies the spirit of a perfect host. He makes you feel welcome and at ease with his charming demeanor. His willingness to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable is truly commendable. If I could, I would book with Angelo exclusively for all my future stays. Beautiful property with great facilities and the most amazing host Angelo. He was very welcoming and approachable and the breakfast was amazing. Room was clean and well maintained with a mosquito net and free toiletries. The location is perfect - very close to the main “strip” but still quiet enough to relax and enjoy the jungle views.

It was the best accommodation on our trip. We can definitely reccommend it! Angelo is a great host and a great person! He made sure that we had everything we needed and provided the best breakfast. The location felt like we were in the middle of the jungle but it is also in walking-distance to all the restaurants in town. We saw giant squirrels, birds an fireflies from the balcony :-)

By far the best place we have stayed thus far. The room was amazingly decorated with roses for our honey moon while the best was ideal to enjoy a good night’s sleep after the hiking we have done on the previous days. The balcony is very wide, with very comfortable furniture and a breathtaking view of the forest. The host was very kind and eager to share invaluable information about sightseeings and local places to visit. Literally a 5/5 and if there a sixth star was available we would definitely give it for this place! Do not forget to have breakfast, even if not included in the booking, as it’s a feast for kings

What a place, location and furnishings are that of a 5* hotel. It’s the sort of place you can read about ten books at. Angelo is a great guy with good tips and very appreciative of giving you all the space you need.

The best part is the excellent location and the host. Anjelo went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He is a very charming guy. It was great to relax on the patio outside the bedroom and read and listen to the birds. A very unique experience. It is easy to walk to Ella for dinner and walk to beautiful areas like Adams Peak and The Nine Arch bridge from Tantra Ella Lodge.

We arrived at night and left the following morning, so it wasn't actually that hot for us, but the room only had a fan. This was more than fine for us, and we wouldn't have needed to switch on the A/C even if there was one, but if you are someone who needs A/C then this is worth noting :)

A great stay in the perfect location! Only a short 5-10 minute walk from the main street makes it super convenient if you're wanting to head out for breakfast or a coffee (or just a general explore). The host is super kind and helpful, and will help organise a tuk tuk if you need. He also arranged and paid for a tuk tuk to pick us up from the main street, and drop us back off at the end of our stay, as the road is quite narrow and cars can't drive down it, and it is quite a decent walk to do with luggage.
