The Bartizan is such a beautiful hotel, at the best spot in the fort. You are right on the walls to watch sunset. The rooms are clean well appointed and so comfortable. We loved our stay here and would definitely return. We travelled with friends and one of their party got ill - the hotel went truly above and beyond to give her a space to get better even though we had checked out. They were exceptional.

Excellent service from the staff who were willing and to help at every turn for transport, money exchange, recommendations and breakfast. Very comfortable bed we loved the pillows and perfect location! We loved it. Would highly recommend a stay here for a night or too if you are to visit Galle.

Bathroom door does not provide adequate privacy and odour travelling into bedroom. Bed linen, although I believe was fresh and clean, had visible stains on it when we arrived so I think they need to upgrade some of their bedding. Not much privacy in these rooms without blocking out the light, however I was aware of this when booking and it wasn't a problem for us, it's the price you pay to stay in a piece of history.

The hotel was beautifull. Lovely old building walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and right along side the forte wall. Large room with lounge section, overlooking the courtyard area with private balcony and French doors. My husband was not well on the last day and the staff arranged some medication for our onward trip. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff

The bathroom should have shelves added as there isn't any space to put the toiletries.

The hotel is extremely charming and the location couldn't be better. The room is spacious, the shower room is working properly with hot water and good pressure (which we sometimes struggled with in other hotels in Sri Lanka). Staff is friendly. Breakfast is generous and excellent.

We had a great stay at The Bartizan – the location is beautiful and the building has a really charming old world European vibe. Our room was big, the bed was super comfy, and we loved having a private balcony that also served as our entrance, which felt very vintage. Breakfast on the balcony was lovely, and the Sinhala New Year buffet was very nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially at check-in and check-out as well as the security guard on the 12th and 14th April. Only issue was one staff member on the evening of the 13th April who made us feel awkward for not having exact change for laundry – felt like a big deal for him to find change for us when it really shouldn’t have been in terms of hospitality for guests.

A very cool authentic historical boutique experience staff took care of everything - small well appointed room opened on to a court yard ( where breakfast was served ) a lovely roof top to watch sunset - the best part of this hotel is the location inside the fort - everything was close by - such a brilliant hotel highly recommended

Great location around the corner of Peddlars shopping street.Behind a discrete entrance lies quiet and a rooftop sunset-viewing place above the hordes.Great breakfast choices, attentive staff rebuilding the hotels well deserved ratings.Personable Andrew the hands-on manager is helpful in all ways. The standard rooms do not have windows, only a double door which opens onto the common area and walk way so if you want to leave your door open for air you do not have privacy.

The breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect. Very close to a section of the beach where you can swim and close to all the restaurants and shops in Galle Fort.

The tower room was very small and there were no reading lights by the bed or mirror by the basin. The bed is against the wall so one person has to climb over the other. Lots of stairs so avoid if you have any mobility issues.

Great location and wonderful breakfasts. Small roof terrace gave a lovely view of the setting sun over the ocean.

Very noisy on the evening we were there until after 12.30 but we were on the front and it is not double glazed. The cost was also quite high for what you get - but it's a choice 😊.

Position was great and the style was very of the moment - and everything worked well loved the downstairs communal space and the bedroom we had came with a large private balcony where we chose to have breakfast - really lovely. Staff at all levels were great. The manager went out of his way as did the reception desk guys - really helpful!
