Staff were obliging but a little hit and miss in terms of friendliness. The friendliest person was the security man at the entrance to the hotel. He always greeted us with a huge smile as we left or returned. He didn't speak English, but he didn't have to, he said it all with his warm smile and open friendliness.

I first had a ground floor room; however, they do not have windows and are quite small. I then received an upgrade to a first-floor room, and it was wonderful, lots of room, a balcony that you could close off to make it quite private. The Bartizan has an interesting history and the location is excellent. I travelled in a large group, 7 adults and 2 children (9 and 4 years).

The staff was absolutely fantastic, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The location was perfect, and the spacious room was a pleasant surprise, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. Overall, a wonderful place that exceeded expectations!

Incredible! The rooms were beautifully designed and very aesthetically pleasing. The little nook and balcony were perfect for a bottle of wine whilst our baby slept in the cot provided. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and when it was raining brought breakfast up to our terrace which was a real treat. The bed was so so comfortable. We’d definitely stay again if we were ever back in Galle. Thank you

Like a lot of hotels in Sri Lanka, they don’t serve alcohol and there are only a few establishments that serve alcohol in the town. It also didn’t serve lunch or an evening meal but this was less of an issue as there were plenty of places to eat on your doorstep.

The property is in a fantastic location looking out over the fort wall and the ocean just on the other side. You certainly feel like you were in the centre of things as it can get pretty lively outside at night time but it means you don’t have to walk very far to find nice places to eat. My room was in the tower which was three stories of stairs which I didn’t mind as it was historic Building. There is a terrace outside my room which afforded fantastic views! It was very hot and humid whilst I was there and the air-conditioning unit in my room struggles dealing with this so it was very hot at times. Also, the bed was a little small with one side against the wall. This was fine on my own or if you were a younger couple but anyone with mobility issues may struggle. The breakfast at the property was very good. On reflection the target client is probably a younger traveller. As such, I would say this is a very good option for them and a step up from a usual backpacker hostel.

We decided to book the place as it showed the room can easily accommodate our family of 4. However two beds were located at such place where neither fans were installed nor the effect of air conditioning to be felt.

No real outside seating area which meant we only had our room to relax in. Having said that, the excellent location meant there was always somewhere to go / see, and the beach / fort wall were literally across the road . Had we stayed longer this might have become more of an issue.

A bit pricey, but most places in Galle are.

Very charming hotel with an excellent location. I stayed in a smaller room in the tower. The room had excellent views overlooking the sea. Bed was very comfortable, staff super friendly and the overall look of the place is really nice. Great breakfast included (you can pick your own from the menu).

Amazing location and wonderful staff. We loved the balcony from our room. Breakfast was lovely and staff were very attentive and kind. Room was a little smaller and bathroom less private than we would have liked but worth it for watching sunsets from our own private space. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a few nights stay in Galle Fort.

Need to do something about the pigeons during breakfast time. Also please avoid towels that has stains. Even though they are washed and kept well, idea of stains on them is not very pleasing.

A really beautiful property , colonial style building refurbished to have all the modern necessities , nestled inside the galle fort so you can walk around to all the little cafes and at night you can relax on the courtyard balcony and hear the waves crash on the rocks , what more could you ask for.

Beautiful old colonial building. The interior design and nooks to just sit and relax in were stunning. Breakfast was really excellent. Location in Galle Fort was perfect for wandering around the town and the shops. The staff at the front desk were keen to go over and above to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend.

Fantastic location. Value for money. If you are looking for something in the fort and don’t have a big pocket I’d pick this place. Neat and nice. Very small room but again I didn’t want at what I’d pay in a big hotel group so definitely value for money
