We stayed in the tower room which had a lovely view of the sea from the balcony. The reception area is also very nice. Good breakfast.

Room, food, staff, and service were all incredible. The view from our terrace was picturesque. Staff were incredibly accommodating for our travel plans and held our bags for the whole day, and offered to let us shower and freshen up before we left for Colombo. The king coconut and lime welcome drink was the best drink I had the whole trip.

The location is fantastic. It's a beautiful forte that is comfortable and very peaceful. Lovely staff, especially the security guard that always made you feel welcome.

The space was a bit small (North Tower room) but it was exactly as advertised. The window blinds need changing (they were stained). Some of the floorboards need work to be done.

Staying inside the fort area, that too in a restored property from the 18th century, it was an unbelievable experience. Beautiful location, gorgeous views. The staff are the nicest, kindest people I have met - they arranged everything! Starting from a bike rental to a packed breakfast at 5AM in the morning - they did it all with a smile!

The only reason I cannot give this a 10 is just a few tiny things - our room phone didn’t work at first, and we hadn’t been given the hotel’s WhatsApp when we arrived so had to pop down to reception in pyjamas a few times! We also couldn’t get the safe to work in our room (but this was fine for us!). The hotel doesn’t serve alcohol or have a bar, but again we didn’t mind - there are plenty of options within 5 minutes walk of the bartizan.

The hotel is absolutely stunning and couldn’t be in a better location in Galle fort - the views from our balcony in the morning and the terrace at sunset were stunning. Particular highlights of our room were the huge, comfortable bed - sleeping to the sounds of the sea; amazing shower and beautiful balcony. The breakfasts were good and incredibly generous, we loved the Sri Lankan options the most, particularly the egg curry! The afternoon cake is well worth coming back for too. All of the staff were super lovely and kind; I would recommend staying here to anyone visiting Galle!

We upgraded our room at the suggestion of the host on the welcome desk to a “sea view” room. The sea was only visible if you were on the terrace and leaned over, looking quite far to the left, so we felt this was a little bit misleading. However, we take responsibility for this as we were offered the opportunity to see the room before proceeding with the upgrade and declined to see it first, and the room itself was so beautiful and more than made up for the limited view

Fantastic location and beautiful building. Rooms were very comfortable with everything we needed, and great air conditioning to escape the Galle heat. There is also a great little rooftop terrace with views of the fort walls and ocean. Staff were lovely.

The breakfast was a little underwhelming and could do with some work… the banana pancakes were great but the cooked food wasn’t the best. Not bad as it’s included but we had to return underdone eggs and the eggs florentine wasn’t how it usually is elsewhere.

We weren't too bothered by this as we were out and about a love, but a TV would have been a great addition to the rooms. More options at breakfast would have been interesting, too.

The Bartizan exceeded our expectations as soon as we stepped in. The location is ideal, and our room had perfect sea view with amazing sounds of the sea drifting in. The room was excellently prepped with amazingly comfortable bedding. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff attended to everything we requested. Such a cozy, beautiful hotel.

Amazing location, building with lots of history. Rooms are unique from any other stay you would have in Sri Lanka. This hotel experience is definitely a highlight from our trip. Located inside the fort so it was very close to all of the shops and restaurants that are in the galle fort. I got the North tower room with a balcony which was a very special room. Small but cozy. The balcony had an amazing view of the galle fort south walls and the ocean. Beds and pillows were comfortable with good blankets/comforters(which not all Sri Lankan hotels had during our stay). The breakfast was very good with a variety of fruits.

The room was on the smaller side with only a small double bed. if you are expecting this than that is perfect as we were hoping for a slightly larger bed but this was not an issue overall. overall we felt that the price was slightly to high for the property. we understand that keeping the rustic feel and not allowing for renovations is wonderful and keeps the time period of the property but it was slightly to high for what we experienced.

The breakfast was very good and we had the option to serve it on the balcony this made our private breakfast more romantic. the location of the hotel was amazing we had the highest room in the property and this was private, quiet and had good views out to the sea. All shops are within walking distance and easy to get to. Staff friendly and attentive.

Beautifully restored boutique hotel. All staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Just a few meters from the Fort walls and Palmer Street which is really the centre of the fort village. Relaxing place, not too busy as only a limited number of rooms. Best breakfast we have had in Sri Lanka.
