Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWires from the bathroom fan stuck into an electrical socket and held in place with masking tape. Not good.
A repeat visit for me. I find the location perfect. Ten minutes walk to the centre, but very quiet at night. Breakfast is lovely and I would definitely return. The host does all she can to make your stay good.

PolandIt would feel more hygienic and comfortable to have fresh covers for the blankets, as opposed to bare blankets that might not always be washed between guests. Additionally, the room could benefit from a fresh coat of paint to enhance the overall feel of the space I just wanted to share some observations that might be helpful for future guests: This is a mountain city surrounded by jungle, so the air is naturally very humid, which means clothes, towels, etc. tend to stay damp. We slept in thermal underwear as the nights tend to get quite chilly Just a note: the Wi-Fi signal was quite weak
The room is spacious for two people, with a comfortable, large bed and a big mosquito net that covers it completely. The couch can be used perfectly as an additional storage space. The terrace is great—spacious with two lounge chairs, a table, and two additional chairs, offering plenty of room to relax with a beautiful mountain view. The bathroom was quite big, and water pressure as well as warm water were good. Just ask the owner how to work the little water heater, and there should be no issues while showering. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Ella Town and Little Adam's Peak. The owner arranged a tuk-tuk for our early train, just an 8-minute ride to the train station for 500 LKR. We also joined the cooking class offered by the owner (3,000 LKR per person). The Sri Lankan vegetarian Curry we made was the best we had during our stay! The owner was very kind and welcoming.

United KingdomGreat value for money. You get your own self contained little hut with hot shower and spacious terrace overlooking a nice garden - you even have views of Ella Rock. The bed is comfortable, with a large and effective mosquito net. The area is very quiet yet is only a gentle stroll into the town. It's a great place to explore the town from. It is on the road to little Adam's Peak and Nine Arch Bridge, which are both very walkable. There are lots of restaurants etc a short walk away. The host and family are delightful. You can message her on WhatsApp anytime if you have a question. She offers other services like cooking class and makes her own range of tote bags. The breakfast was large with a huge pot of tea or coffee.

We have loved staying in this little cute house which we had just for us and friendly Ishani with her two sweet daughters and sister living in the house just below - always there if we needed her. ☺️ The view from the house is spectacular and located in a quiet spot of Ella, still close to the busy main roads. The breakfast was super tasty, walking distance to Little Adam's Peak and the viewpoint of the nine arch bridge. We could buy Ella bags made by hand and with lots of love by our host to support her little business. Next time I would do the cooking class with Ishani because her cooking skills are amazing. I want to come back! ❤️

It is about 10minutes from city center. It is closed enough and very calm. You can enjoy view on Ella Rock listening birds singing.

AustriaAs a sensitive person I had problems with the damp/mouldy air in the room, but in this climate you really cant do anything about this. Bring earplugs, there are friendly but loud dogs around 😉
It’s a beautiful little gem surrounded by jungle sounds and with view of Ella rock. We sat in the terrace every evening and slept really good in the comfy bed. The owner were amazing, when we got sick, they brought us medicine and they took us to the train station. We also enjoyed the breakfast served on our terrace every morning. Especially for this price, it’s 100% a recommendation!
