Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe room on the ground floor has a big lack of privacy, so the curtains must always be kept shut. The bathroom is also quite noisy, you can hear the water running from the toilet and ventilation is noisy.
Great staff, location and good restaurant

NetherlandsBit old. Junior suite 195€ might not be worth it. (Had water boiler with some tea but only paper cup) Jakuzzi was ok
Indoor pool and breakfast was the reason we went there. Big spacey room.

NetherlandsThe bathroom with jacuzzi & shower was luxurious but sadly it had no door which meant we had no privacy. We couldn't use the jacuzzi for this reason. We had our 2 boys of 10 & 13 years old with us which made it difficult to use with our boys in the room.
Junior suite was spacious and very comfortable for a family of 4. We loved the pool and sauna facilities! Staff were really welcoming, helpful & friendly!

United KingdomNice that a private swimming session is offered although the swimming pool is in a separate building so had to walk across with all our swim gear in the rain. With kids not ideal. Otherwise was a very pleasant stay and we would return.
We stayed in the junior suite and felt the size of the rooms and space was great with kids. Nice modern bathroom with walk in shower. The breakfast was nice and decent variety. Staff very good and attentive.

Very good breakfast, nice wellness are with pool and sauna. The facilities are well above a 3 start hotel. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The staff was extremely nice and helpful.

NetherlandsA bit noisy (I could hear toilet above flush, for example) and facilities were a bit crowded. No robes for sauna, which is in a separate building next door. Coffee could be better.
Great location, pool and sauna, good value, restaurant on site, very decent breakfast.

Great swimming pool with hydro-jets, great for aching muscles after a long ride. Motorcycle parking by main entrance, out of sight from main road, and felt safe. Lovely restaurant and fun waiting staff.

The hotel room was quite large and comfortable. The hotel is easy to reach by bus; you need to stop at Wiltz Lann Quai. The breakfast was good and the staff were helpful. The swimming pool is a nice way to relax and can be booked for 40 minutes.

Just spent a fabulous two days at Aux Tanneries and honestly wished I could’ve had a few more. The staff were all excellent and so accommodating. Anything you needed, they either could provide or let you know where to get it. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely and the breakfast was well-stocked (with the ability to have freshly cooked omelettes or eggs and bacon). The pool and spa area was lovely and I enjoyed having the space to myself. I love spending the evenings on the terrace having a glass of wine and chatting with other patrons. The rooms were a bit warm on what was the hottest day of the summer so far, but otherwise I really have no complaints at all. Short walk from the station, the staff I interacted with all spoke excellent English (and accommodated my poor French), the car park seems large. Definitely worth a stay!

United KingdomIt was all a bit chaotic. Fawlty Towers comes to mind! The breakfast room staff were not welcoming - no smile or greeting, and did not ask if we wanted cooked breakfast - after the first morning when we had to find someone to ask, we didn't bother and made do with the adequate breakfast buffet. The evening restaurant staff were better but when arriving for our (prebooked) dinner we were left standing in a corner of the dining room feeling rather foolish while they rushed around ignoring us as they brought other meals out. It would have been very quick and easy to have received a smile and been shown to our table. Despite there being a local Wiltz brewery the hotel did not have a lounge or bar to sit in and enjoy a local beer (there were bottles available but no draught). Unfortunately the wine we chose to celebrate a special occasion - and had been recommended by the waiter - was unavailable despite him recommending it! There were a lot of people smoking in the courtyard in front of the hotel which was a bit unexpected. One day the housekeeping staff forgot to clean/service our room. There were no proper cups or glasses in the room - only paper - and the hospitality tray wasn't replenished even when they did remeber to clean the room. There was a problem with the bath tap and initially we had no hot water - after asking we were told to leave it running for a long time first... it was a long time, but eventually we were able to have a warm bath. Many rooms (ours included) are in a nearby building where the pool is and although spacious are rather dark and smell of chlorine. The pool is great, but the hotel has a strange booking system where you reserve the pool for a 40 minute sole use slot. This doesn't really give enough time to relax and enjoy the sauna and relaxation area as well as have a swim. Much of the time the pool was empty but we could not use it. All in all, a disappointing (and expensive) stay.
Andreia at reception was very welcoming and helpful. The main part of the hotel was an interesting old building. The food in the restaurant was very good. Nice swimming pool. Charles the owner was very friendly.

United KingdomThe pool was very nice but only open for a couple of hours. The spa was lovely too but it was only available by booking and collecting the key from reception which was just silly. Why not keep it open for all the guests to use without booking?
Lovely hotel next to the river (where you would expect a tannery to be!) at the bottom of the town. Too far to walk to the centre but luckily the hotel restaurant was excellent! So was the breakfast and the room was spacious and comfortable (though there was no view).
