Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is my general dislike about Marrakech and unfortunately doesn’t discount Riad Atay, it all just felt dusty I guess it is the desert after all but it did affect my comfort and relaxation. For example the cushions on the rooftop need a good shaking before I could use them. Our bathroom was abit too dark I think a brighter bulb would have helped.
The property is well kept generally and the aesthetics pleasing. The rooftop is a cool area to chill and breakfast up there was very pleasant & beautifully presented. The staff are so genuinely kind and friendly. Extremely convenient for exploring the medina.

United KingdomWe had some trouble 2 of the nights with scammers telling us we are going the wrong way as you have to walk through Souks to get to the Riad. We realised towards the end of the stay that walking through Ben Youssef is the best way home with no scammers! Nothing to do with the Riad but more so location and a heads up!
We had such a good time staying in Riad Atay. The Riad is stunning and if you want a real traditional experience then stay here… the Medina is so close by and the breakfast is amazing. Rooms are clean and the stand out for us was the hospitality - Simo and the rest of the team are incredibly hospitable. We felt so welcome and Simo helped us with taxis / restaurant recommendations etc. As a couple, we would definitely stay here again!

United KingdomNo TV in the rooms, so if you wanted to chill after being out all day and watch a movie then you'll need laptop/notebook/tablet or your phone. Internet isn't great and that's the same all over the Medina we paid the extra for roaming on our phones which is reasonably expensive (I think around £20 a day, you can buy a local sim card). No alcohol sold in hotel or any shops in the Medina, there are several roof top bars that you can go but you usually need to book in advance and it's reasonably expensive. If want to relax with a bottle of vino at the hotel after a busy day sightseeing then you need to be organised. I think they'll probably put it in one of the fridges as the rooms don't have any, we didn't ask as we couldn't find anywhere to buy any. It was hard to find, almost every day we struggled with the final approach, I'm sure we would have cracked it in another day or two. The entrance is down a narrow darkish alleyway which is quite intimidating at first but you do get used to it once you've acclimatised to the Medina madness!
Breakfast was great. Room was big. It was quiet almost all the time, except you would be woken by the call to prayer at sunrise which we were OK with, my wife called it the Medina alarm clock! Staff were super friendly and helpful. We took dinner on the first night which was very nice and easy for us. Absolute must is booking the taxi from the airport through the hotel, it would be impossible to find otherwise and it's not expensive. Overall very good experience and would definitely return.

Everything was amazing. From arrival to departure the staff were incredible, all of them. The Riad was super clean and so beautifully decorated! The breakfast was very good and the atmosphere even more amazing! Simo, Mouad, Reda (the night guard), Sheyme and the other lady were all amazing!!! A real credit to the hotel! Sibel was extremely helpful prior to arriving there! Thank you to everyone truly!

United KingdomNot a dislike, but the Riad is hard to find. It’s down a tiny alleyway and can’t be reached by car. Your taxi will drop you at College Mohamed 5 & you must walk from there.
The Riad is recently refurbished and in beautiful condition. It’s an oasis of calm, elegant tranquility in the heart of the bustling Medina. Traditional Moroccan breakfast served on the roof terrace was lovely. Simo, Moad, Reda & the rest of the team were all great & really welcoming.

PortugalThe staff is very kind! Help with all the logistics and guarantee everything clean and the accommodation. We can book taxis and transfers at the Riad and they leave us near the taxi, out of the Medina, and meet us in the end to bring us again to the Riad. We never felt lost in the Medina!

ItalyThe Riad is located right down a small but safe alleyway. The alleyway could use a cleanup and refresh in general to feel more inviting. Obviously, the alleyway like many in Marrakech share different ownership.
My husband and I are frequent travelers to Marrakech, so we have therefore stayed in many Riads over the years. This small, but extremely comfortable and quiet Riad is immaculate, on every level. Everything is hand picked tastefully and with delicate care. Excellent air conditioning and super clean. Same with the staff. They make you feel taken care of, always wanting to help, to give and make your stay perfect. We loved everything. Breakfast is excellent with everything homemade. They are warm hosts; one really feels the care and concern. The location is excellent for people who don’t mind walking a bit, since Marrakech is really a walking city. However it’s perfect for shopping closely in great districts, with the wonderful restaurant Le Jardin 2 minutes away. We will certainly be back, and we thank from the bottom of our hearts the entire staff of the Riad. The Gleich Family

United StatesI discussed with Simo the manager the real need for a very simple map with local "landmarks" to get to the Riad Atay. Part of this Riad's charm is its excellent location---literally buried within the labyrinth of Marrakech. I am excellent with directions, but had trouble the first night finding the Riad after dark. It is extremely difficult to navigate---even with "live" google maps. I finally felt I needed to call the Riad and stayed near a landmark I knew was close to it. The particular entryway into the Rian Atay is very dark and is LOW (you have to duck your head slightly if you are tall) and is at the very end of a dead-end street/passageway. I know Simo will do something on this front. After I figured out the local landmarks I could navigate back and forth. There are no locks on the doors. Only a sliding bolt. If you are concerned about security, you may take this into consideration. You are in a "riad" which is different in a regular hotel. We had no problems, whatsoever, and the cleaning ladies and staff did a great job in keeping the entire riad clean.
The breakfast is really excellent. Reda, who is the night shift partner/manager of Simo (manager) does an OUTSTANDING JOB. He speaks French, but not English---yet, I was able to communicate well with him.

United KingdomThe location was complicated, we got lost several times, you also have to walk 10-15 minutes to get to the raid. A little expensive for what it is. The swimming pool is very small.
Very nice people - when you get inside the Raid, it is very nice, the food was very good.

Riad Atay is a 10/10 for everything. The Riad is beautiful, with a small pool and multiple salon for relaxing. The atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet hidden away from the activity outside. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and nothing was any trouble. The taxi was arranged and all went smoothly with our transfers. The internet was excellent and the breakfast on the terrace was amazing. I cannot fault anything and will stay again, hopefully for longer next time.

IndiaTucked away discretely at the end of an alleyway, Riad Atay was an oasis in the midst of the busy medina; perfect for my 4night stay. Quiet and serene space; minimal and beautifully decorated. The staff, Simo along with Chaimae, Reda, Bouchra and Mouad run this Riad very efficiently. Reda was particularly exceptional at serving the simple yet tasty breakfast, remembering all my requests and preferences every morning. The location of the Riad is very convenient and walking distance from all the popular places in and around the medina.

United KingdomThis would be a very minor thing, but the shower in the private suite was difficult to control (temperature and water amount). Its drain seemed clogged a little bit.
We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Atay. Clean and well decorated with muted colour. Their moroccan breakfast was delicious, and they also served fantastic dinner for us first night. Their moroccan salad was the best during this trip. But the most impressive thing at this Riad was the staff. Simo was always supporting our stay at the Riad and via WhatsApp. He remembered what we asked, and arranged everything perfectly. And Reda and other women were very polite and making us relaxed with their warm smiles. Sometimes we couldn't communicate in English, however, it was not a problem (use Google transtate). Even we enjoyed it a lot feeling in a different country outside of the UK.
