Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. It was all super.
This is a fantastic place to stay in a prime location in the Medina. It's a cool and quiet place to relax just a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of the souks. Yousif and Ali were amazing hosts and sorted everything out for us including airport taxi transfers. Yousif met us from the taxi drop off and accompanied us to the hotel. They prepared delicious breakfasts every day and mint tea when we arrived back from days out. The rooms were so authentic and meticulously cleaned each day. The roof terrace is an extra bonus and is wonderful to enjoy a mint tea, watch the sunset over the Koutoubia mosque and listen to the call to prayer. I would highly recommend staying here for an authentic Moroccan experience.

ItalyI had a really nice stay at riad. The place is stylish and comfortable, with a lovely mix of Moroccan charm and modern touches. It’s easy to find, which is a big plus when you’re exploring the Medina. Inside, it’s calm and quiet, making it a great place to relax. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, a perfect way to start the day. I definitely recommend it.

AustriaThe thing with Riads is (and I assume that’s the case for most of them), that the rooms are quite small and noise is traveling easily, so if you need some privacy I would stay in a „normal“ hotel instead. In general, Marrakech was quite pricy in relation to what you receive, which is for sure not the fault of our hosts.
The managers are super nice and helpful. The Riad is very lovely and well maintained. It is within the Medina, super close to the souks, but but at the end of a small street, so it’s not noisy from the outside. The breakfast was lovely arranged. Thanks a lot to our hosts for a nice stay!

Breakfast was a mixture of sweet and savoury treats that set us up for the day. The staff was on hand and ready to help set up tours or providing relaxing mint tea after long day out. The right blend of support when required.

EstoniaNo privacy! When staying at this riad, you should be aware that there is absolutely no sound isolation whatsoever - you can literally hear every sound your neighbors are making, either whispering loudly, talking, laughing, arguing or lovemaking :) Tiny space! The room was as big as the bed, so if you are a bit claustrophobic, maybe not the best choice for you.
The authenticity! It was like travelling back in time to fairy tales. Excellent location! Located within the Medina and just a few steps away from all the colorful souks. Extremely comfortable bed! Most polite, helpful and quiet staff!

We had a great stay at Riad Papillon. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great. The room was cleaned to a very good standard every day. It is also in a great location for a first visit to Marrakech.

United StatesIt can be a bit tricky at first to find as it is deep in the alley.
It is situated very close in the old Medina, and walking distance from general attractions. It is tucked away and is very quiet peaceful within a busy part of the city.

United Kingdom- breakfasts were basic and got same-y - noise travels from rooms across the riad (though I imagine this is typical of all the riads because of how they are built)
- staff were kind and helpful. They were present at all times (24/7) and will go out of their way to helpS - rooms were cleaned and freshened up daily - in a handy location to explore the medina - pleased with the value for money you get at this property

The riad was very clean and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. It had a pleasant feel with a large roof top terrace. Breakfast was good. We ate at the riad one evening and it was very tasty. The service was great. Best of all were the staff. They were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly Ali who arranged excursions - nothing was too much trouble. We felt safe and it was a little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby souks. The location was excellent. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

RomaniaThere was only one flaw my partner and I saw. We went on a trip to the desert, which was recommended and booked by the host. The trip was a little bit pricier than what you would find on booking.com, and we had a problem with the food. The trip included a dinner and a show, but we ended up waiting 2h for the food and missed the show as a result. We told the host what happened and he was very apologetic.
The host was very nice and very helpful. He waited for us with dinner (extra cost), and even gave us some packed food at 7am when we left for the airport. The food is very delicious, and you can ask for tea/coffee and eggs if you wish. The property itself is gorgeous. Even when there are 40 degrees outside the property remains cold and very relaxing (AC is provided in the room in case it gets too cold/hot). The cleaning staff is amazing, they cleaned our room every morning. The host constantly checked in on us, and helped us with any requests and advice about the city we had.

FranceMy only tiny criticism is that I would have liked better lighting over the bathroom mirror, (it was very dark in there) because I’m a girl and I wear makeup. 😉
Super location for an authentic stay within the Médina. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, offering maps and recommending places to visit! The breakfasts were excellent, we also pre-ordered dinner on our first night as we arrived late..a traditional Moroccan meal was served and it was delicious and great value. The Riad did not serve alcohol, but happy for us to buy our own (fridge in room) and supplied us with glasses so we could have apéros on their roof top terrace. A gem of a place in Marrakech that I would highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved everything about this property and it’s wonderful and friendly staff. I cannot express how grateful I am to Ali, Yousef and the smiling ladies of Riad Papillon for making our stay so special and because of them I have an extremely happy mother. They were so patient and attentive throughout our stay and were always happy for a friendly chat. They certainly went above and beyond my expectations. This amazing Riad is nestled far enough from the hustle and bustle of the busy Medina, yet close enough to walk to Jamaa El Fnaa and all the attractions. With Ali’s help and advice, I was able to navigate without too much difficulty around the Medina. Our room, Hibiscus, has two very comfortable single beds, a gorgeously decorated shower room and a good air con. It’s spacious enough for two people to move around comfortably. We didn’t get to use the TV, we were far too tired from the days activities. Breakfast was a feast. Fresh fruits, pastries, bread, olives, dates, yogurt and eggs. Very good coffee! You won’t want lunch after you have your breakfast. I would highly recommend having your first evening meal at the Riad. It was so delicious, and like breakfast it’s a feast. Ali & Yousef, thank you again and I’ll be seeing you both soon! Take care

CanadaIt was a bit difficult to find, and a bit isolated, but a lot in the Medina is. On that note it was comforting to find we were being, escorted without our knowing by a safety person when we were out late one evening!
Ali was so warm and welcoming and helpful. The other staff, cook and housekeeper ( I am sorry we did not get their names) were so kind and accommodating. The accommodation was a little Oasis in the Medina, so clean, quiet and adorable. I highly recommend it!
