Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyIt is an old building and facilities like shower are not the best and sound isolation is not great either. But very good value for the money and pleasant stay overall.
Great location in the centre of the medina where you can feel yourself immersed in the local atmosphere. We booked the private double room which has its own bathroom and terrace with a magnificent view over the town and sea. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really recomend the place.

GermanyThe bad news first: if you have heavy luggage to carry or some kind of disability, specially walking -- stay away! Not only is the location in a hard to find narrow alley, the building itself (lovely restored and designed) is also ancient and has staircases that can be politely described as “steep, winding and incredibly narrow”. Not much the owner can do about that. One point that could be improved is the bathroom situation. I had a 6bed dorm (nice bunks with curtains) that was “en suite.” Alas the doors to the shower (repair needed) / toilet are of the Western saloon swinging type, not really closing. Additionally the wall does not go o through to the ceiling, i.e. anybody in the room could hear any bowel movements at 3 am after a curry in the evening -- very unpleasant. The kind guest therefore uses the shared toilet in the hall. Except those (one on each floor) are 1,3 metres square with shower and toilet bowl. Anybody showering soaks what little toilet paper is provided. Also there is no security: doors to rooms are during the day kept open for ventilation by staff. No locks, just some measly bolts on the doors.
Having commented on the not-so-good points below, it must be noted you'll be in the middle of town. The roof terrace is nice and staff are helpful.

IsraelCleanliness could really be improved. There was a lot of dirt and dust on the floor and hair in the bathroom. The hot water in the shower wasn't consistent. Right outside the room is a shared terrace for all the hostel guests so if noise bothers you, this room might be problematic. The bathroom door is authentic and nice but makes so much noise when opening and closing - not very practical.
Good for a one night stay. The location is inside the Medina, but not too far from where the taxi drops off. We were in the superior double room on the top floor with a beautiful terrace and view of all of tangier during the sunrise. The hostel had a very authentic feel. Martin the staff member that was there during our stay was very helpful with tips and recommendations.

United StatesIt can get really loud at night. So just bring earplugs!
It's more like someone's house rather than a hostel, very welcoming and inviting. Mouad does an amazing job making people feel at home. I really loved how the hostel is surrounded by shops more towards for locals rather than for tourists. Great value for the price. I would stay again here.

PhilippinesThe room is not spacious and a little noisy outside. I requested for a lower bunk bed but I wasn't lucky enough but I will still recommend this hostel.
The riad is located inside the old medina. It has a beautiful terrace and English-speaking staff and manager. They are friendly. The restrooms maintained clean with scented tissues all day. There's a kitchen at the first level, an opportunity to meet new friends. I really liked the terrace, it's beautiful there overlooking the sea and the picturesque Tangier.

UruguayNo locker to leave your things. My room was quite small and not meant to fit 3 beds, but again, I understand is an old house. No place to work as the wifi doesn't reach the bottom floor where the table is, don't know if it's their fault or just the mobile company.
Lovely old house in the center of the Medina. The staff was top notch, like staying with friends.
