Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe rooms on the first floor don’t really have windows. The check-in was 4pm and check-out at 11am which wasn’t great especially as the cleaning requirements were very very limited. Not a lot of restaurants directly around.
Stayed here for a night before leaving Montenegro. Cute guesthouse with shared bathroom and kitchen. Right on the coast and nice little swimming area near by. Had meals at the hotel next door who own the guesthouse.

We upgraded to the Guesthouse Zebra from the Giraffe so we could have a private bathroom in the room. This building looks brand new and is located one street back (2 minute walk) from the water and the Carrubba Hotel where you check in, have meals and drinks and swim. The hotel provides a delicious breakfast. The staff were fabulous, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Check in is very easy and communication prior to arrival was great. The accommodation very relaxing and peaceful and just 20 minutes walk from Porto Montenegro. We loved our stay.

United KingdomExcellent location, great staff, and the restaurant attached to it was excellent. Beautifully placed right next to the water. I even checked in a little late but they didn't mind. The guesthouse was completely new, not just refurbished, and I'd happily stay again

GermanyI was told in an e-mail before that parking wouldn't be a problem and it would be secure, however there was no secure parking and we had to search for parking along the road for a motorbike, so I imagine it would be more difficult with a car. The guy at the desk was not so friendly and quite short with us when we would ask questions like where is good to eat and when we had issues opening the front gate. Overall the rooms where clean however the bathroom could do with a more thorough and frequent clean as they are quite small with poor ventilation.
Very comfy and clean room with great air conditioning and a TV which has Netflix etc. Great natural light through the room and it was nice that each floor had a bathroom/toilets. Location was peaceful a nice, within walking distance to the main port and close to where the ferry's to go across are.

Just a stunning location, its tucked away down a side street from Hotel Carruba so go into reception there to check in. So quaint with a newly renovated modern touch. The staff were all so kind and helpful and sitting on the terrace down by the waters edge to eat and drink was magical. Only a 10 minute walk along the bay to Porto Montenegro so location was perfect too.

CroatiaBathroom is shared, which make the accomodation a bit pricey for what it is.
The building seems to be newly renovated. The room is quite spacious and the shared bathroom too. Downstairs there is a communal space with kitchen and one table.

United StatesThey don't have a kitchen, you share a bathroom with the workers who work in the restaurant. The prices are very high for a hostel, I don't know where they got the right to give it 4 stars. Frankly HORRIBLE. They don't deserve a single star

BelgiumThe location of the hotel is perfect however there were some things which were quite below average. The room was a nice size but not enough storage space for two people, there was not enough place to hang clothes and store folded clothes. Also for creams, body skin care there was nothing to put it on. Coming back from the beach there is nowhere to hang wet clothes/swimsuits. Bathroom was a bit of a disaster, the italian shower is not well built and water spills everywhere and the bathroom is quite small so everything gets soaked. The bathroom air filter didn't work so was always stuffy and damp. Supposedly, the shared areas get cleaned daily, but the bathroom must have been cleaned only twice in a week which was quite disappointing as it is shared and quite unhygenic. The beds are extremely soft, if you have back problems please avoid. Waited about 40 minutes to get a coffee one morning and often we had to grab the waiters attentions, mind there are not many seatings. We paid in cash for one of our excursions and the manager forgot to add it in the computer/bill, so at the check out they couldn't find our payment. The Giraffe Guesthouse is a subcategory of the Carruba hotel and the reception is shared. The reception is ok, but not great, would have expected better from a 4 stay hotel- we spent a day at the Hyatt Hotel spa and the reception was excellent, spoke english well and helped us understand where the nice restaurants were and places to go see, organized a taxi etc etc, we would have expected the same from the Carruba Hotel. The Giraffe guesthouse is comparable to a "nice" hostel, they should advertise it as such. We would have gladly paid more for a better hotel which actual services.
The location of the hotel is perfect, next to the beach and you can walk 2 minutes and jump in the water. There are a few restaurants and cafés nearby.

Great place, looks as an old house and feels like a house with its own spirit. Definitely not that kind of a pure-business without any trace of an owner's soul. Location is great, just 1 minute from a bed to the sea! And just for 70E/nught. Great breakfast is in the Carrubba hotel if you don't want to use the kitchen. Just opened, everything is new. Great place, looking fwd to get back next time (hopefully for more days to stay)!

FranceTo find the entrance gate of this hidden gem you have to mobilize all your gumption (but such location guarantees privacy and calmness).
Just renovated an ancient building while taking care of history and details. Spotless clean. Modern bathroom and kitchen with all you need for cooking smth simple. Yummy restaurant in couple of steps with magical breakfasts and dinners a-la cart. Highly recommended and definitely come back one happy day.
