Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI actually booked a different property at a similar price around the corner. Have to stand in the shower to use the loo or do sideways acrobatics. I wouldn’t want to cook there. No toilet paper on arrival. Roughest lane in all old town.
I’m reviewing Puerta as they took me there instead. In the old town so amazing to pay under 40Euros but apart from location being awesome you get what you pay for. Nice view from window. Only 1 night so did the job. Had kitchen.

United StatesThis review is likely not completely relevant given we booked last second, literally at 6 PM for the same night and we arrived an hour after that. There was no warm water. The room has a water heater but it might not have been on long enough. The apartment is next to one of the most popular bars which made it very loud in the evening. That being said windows are pretty good and block 90% of it so our baby still slept though although my wife could not. Again, that being said that is an issue only if you have a small kid that needs to go to bed before midnight or so when music stops due to quiet hours, otherwise if you're up and around (which seems like a great idea) you wouldn't even notice the noise
. The staff was great, very accommodating, we booked blast second, for the same night and arrived 1h after booking it. They welcomed us and allowed us to keep the baby stroller downstairs in the cafe so we don't have to climb it up 3 floors in narrow passages -highly appreciate that. The apartment was clean but not spotless, and that might be because we didn't leave them much time. The bed is comfy enough. The apartment itself is small, located in the heart of the old town with nice views through the windows that look on 3 different sides and 3 different streets of the old town, including the hills with the old wall that was picturesque in the evening.

SwitzerlandAll is said in the other comments. It was no surprise that people were partying till 1/2am and there was loud music. But for a 1-2 night stay, it is good. Kotor is beautiful!
Very centric and the stuff tries the best they can.

PolandBoth the room and the bathroom could be a little cleaner. The shower curtain is missing, which unfortunately causes a flood to be written into every bath.
Guesthouse Athos is located in the heart of Kotor, on one of the most beautiful streets! You can totally fall in love with this place. It is worth bearing in mind that the location will not be suitable for someone who needs to have peace and quiet. The staff were very friendly - we received lots of advice about our stay - even though we were only staying for one day. I do also totally recommend having a delicious coffee in the restaurant owned by the owners (Street Food Athos) and enjoying the view.

United KingdomCentral location meant being surrounded by bars, music heard through ear plugs until 1am. Didn't realise this until we saw the reviews after booking. Room was not too clean with dirt under bed and hairs in shower, on toilet seat and on bed. Facilities in room somewhat basic: dodgy electrics with plugs hanging off wall, basic curtains not hung properly and back to front, tv box didn't work, no shower curtain, strangely peeling and yellowed toilet seat. Open sockets, poor paintwork and damp. The building is very old and likely difficult to maintain, but the parts of the room that can be easily maintained were not good. Holey towels. Duvet with yellow marks on it kept in a black bin bag. Mismatched coat hangers. The room looks ok overall and was fine but needs touching up and improving. One choice only for breakfast albeit a big plate of food. WiFi unreliable. Breakfast was supposed to be at 9am but was served about 40 minutes later. Staff smoking by the door of the kitchen next to diners eating was unpleasant. I'm sure they'd have moved if asked but we didn't ask. Kettle in room but no cups/spoons/tea/coffee!! No glasses either.
The location was great in that it was in the centre of Kotor Old Town with everything on your doorstep. The host was very friendly and helpful, welcoming. The building is characterful. Breakfast was tasty. Working air con, fairly comfortable bed, choice of bedding (blanket with additional duvet). Staff helped with suitcases. We borrowed host's WiFi hot-spot which was helpful. Good water pressure and hot water. Sound proofing windows that almost stopped the noise. Hairdryer, fridge, lamp included.

SpainTowels had stains that have been in them for quite some times. No shower curtain or shower head holder, you're just flooding up the whole bathroom. TV in the room, but it didn't work as the iptv box they had there was not connected.
Good and convenient location right in the city center. Quiet, unlike mentioned on some other comments. We were there on out of season though.

United StatesThe smell from the bathroom drains was terrible unless we had the window open, plus our TV did not work. The sheets barely fit on the mattress and the comforter that was left in the closet was stained and dirty. Could use a bit of a refresh, but you get what you pay for. As others have mentioned, the club downstairs is loud and the stairs are more like a ladder. This is good budget option for younger travelers, but not ideal for most.
Nice location right in the center of the Old Town. The views from the third floor windows were nice and check-in / checkout was easy. WiFi worked well.

It says free toiletries, but there was no shampoo, and I had to insist for them to provide it. Usually, i carry my own, but I was traveling super light and didn't. No cleaning happened. I'm not sure if that's their policy or if I had to ask? I wasn't told about it.
The location is great. Wifi is strong. Staff are kind.

Czech Republic- The stairs to the rooms are the steepest and narrowest I've ever seen in a hotel. It is, if course, due to the historical nature of the building but older people or people with disabilities should rethink renting this guesthouse. - The BIG PROBLEM of this guesthouse is, that is located above a night club which plays loud music on the street until 1-2 AM. The music and the shouting of the tons of drunk people around it is almost unbearable and you will get no sleep unless you have earplugs. Closing the windows does not help much.
- The guesthouse is in a fantastic half-a-millennium old building in a heart of the town of Kotor. - The staff is great, I messaged them about my time of arrival and they were waiting for me in the restaurant which is located at the ground floor, check-in was done in 5 minutes. - Room was small but good, private bathroom, fast and stable wifi, electric kettle, comfortable bed, small table with chair for working. - The restaurant serves really good burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads and beer for reasonable price, a rare phenomenon in Kotor. Most restaurants in the vicinity serve fancy but mediocre and overpriced food.

SerbiaCheck in was not so smooth. I was waiting 20 minutes in front of the appartments in heavy rain. The host had his phone turned off so I was unable to contact him, even I’ve arrived in the agreed time. The host does not speak Serbian or English so communication in person was tricky. Coffee cups were dirty, there was small half used hotel shampoo.

United KingdomAnyone staying here needs to be aware of 2 things: firstly, the stairs to the rooms are the steepest and narrowest I have ever encountered. Would be a real problem for anyone with vertigo, mobility impaired or just with a big, heavy suitcase! Secondly, the music from a nearby bar was incredibly loud till 1am. If either of the above are a problem - avoid.
The place itself was great and served my purposes really well. Great location in the heart of the Old Town so close to everything. Room had everything I needed. Don't be put off by the description of the 'outside bathroom' - it isn't!
