Simply fabulous! Behind an unassuming door in the charming town of Xaghra is an oasis of tranquility - run meticulously by the wonderfully helpful Claire (quintessentially English with a touch of quirkiness that makes the world a better place!) and her amazing staff, we enjoyed the most wonderful short break in early March - which, btw, is when the colours of Gozo are at their best. Though English, Claire grew up in Gozo and what she doesn’t know about local sights and scenes isn’t worth knowing - and from the moment we booked, Claire was in touch to understand our ambitions for the weekend and to make our stay as special as possible. The accommodation itself is wonderful - clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished - the breakfasts are awesome and the large, communal table was great fun - and underpinning it all is Claire’s dedicated team who go out of their way to make one’s stay as stress-free as possible; the little touches, from an arrival cocktail to afternoon sandwiches and local recommendations, really elevate this venue far beyond a mere B&B; boutique tranquility zone would be a far better description! Claire - please pass our thanks to your whole team - we will be back! x

Claire went above and beyond to make our stay amazing, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Her experience in hospitality and high standards really shine through in the way she runs everything. The breakfast and afternoon tea were so fresh, full of flavour, and presented in such a beautiful way. It was definitely a highlight! Also a big thank you to Nivin and Alvin for their kindness and great service. We truly felt so well taken care of!

Hospitality - From before arriving at the accomodation we were in close contact with the owner to know more about our preferences. As soon as we arrived the owner and the staff came to greet us at the door and as soon you step inside the accomodation it is very welcoming, nicely decorated and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious and the outside area exceeded all of our expectations. Our room was perfect, comfortable beds + equipped with everything from phone chargers to candle lighters to coffe machine. Also we had an outisde patio perfect to see the sunrise with a nice cup of coffee. Pet friendly - As dog owners our pet was very well treated, aware from before that at the property there are three more dogs who are very well behaved and friendly we had no problem in getting to know our pet and they even become friends. Our pet was given also all the necessary amenities that a dog needs - bowls, blanket and even a small treat.

We spent almost two weeks at ALTO and it was one of the best vacations of our lives, if not the best. Even before we arrived, Claire, the owner of the property, made sure what our expectations were and what we liked to do. From the very first moment, we were charmed by the welcome from Claire and her two very kind assistants, Alvin and Nivin, who were waiting for us before entering the secret garden that ALTO Beyond turned out to be. The interior of the property is decorated with taste and attention to detail. The lush and varied greenery in the garden will bring solace to even the most stressed people. The breakfasts served in the garden or on the patio were delicious and you could request whatever you wanted - the poached eggs deserve a separate 12 out of 10 points in the rating :-) Alvin and Nivin were always there to help with gentleness and a smile. Claire advised us on what to visit in Gozo and Malta and her recommendations were always spot on, especially since we were getting detailed directions from her to get there. Thanks to Claire's excellent knowledge of the island, we got to places we would never have gotten to without solid research, which of course we didn't have time for before arriving. We would especially like to thank Claire for her recommendations on restaurant choices - the food and atmosphere were great everywhere. The fact that we brought back a few more pounds from our vacation is entirely our fault. Claire is a well-educated person and very knowledgeable about the history of Malta and beyond, so it was pure pleasure to talk to her about it. And last not least - three adorable beagles sweetened our stay in Alto as crazy dog lovers. Peanut, Smudge and Bingo, AKA Mr. Houdini, accepted our excessive attention with dignity. After staying at ALTO Beyond, we fully understand the name of the place! The stay here definitely exceeded any of our expectations. We will certainly come back!

There was nothing to dislike at Alto Beyond.

Entering Alto Beyond was like entering a hidden sanctuary. We had a lovely welcome from Claire and her team. Alvin and Nivin and were incredibly well looked after throughout our stay. Breakfasts were varied and delicious and served in the beautiful garden or courtyard, Claire took the time to find out what interested us during our stay and offered great suggestions for places to visit which didnt disappoint. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was incredible and much appreciated - It was like having a personalised trip planner - thank you! We also enjoyed use of the tennis court and even managed a few rallie :)

Nothing not to like!

We stayed for 6 nights and were so sad to leave. The service is exceptional, Claire is an amazing host, always one step ahead of what we might need. Alvin and Nivin were both wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile. It was my partner’s birthday whilst we were there and they went over and above with decorations, cake and balloon. Alongside the comfy rooms and beautiful property, Claire organised fresh beach towels when we needed, a picnic for our day trip to comino, reusable water bottles, car hire, booking restaurants and our pillows of choice. The daily breakfast was superb with beautiful table settings, you’re made to feel really special.

Alto Beyond What can we say? From our the first moment of our greeting by Claire, Alvin and Nivin we knew we were going to be well looked after. The property is an amazing hidden gem behind a red door on a normal street - who knew what lay behind? Well what was inside was a beautiful space decorated with flair and an appreciation for the history of the building, we had the most amazing room and personal terrace and everything we could want and some things we didn’t know we needed were catered for, from glorious wines to the most stunning breakfasts on the terrace, from restaurant reservations and recommendations to just leaving us in peace. An amazing spot for seeing Gozo from and we’d like to think a future friend in Claire whose life tales are fabulous. We will be back, I’m sure, thank you

Nothing to complain about. Everything was amazing. 10/10.

In terms of an experience, and it was an experience, I've never been looked after as well as Clare looked after us. Breakfast was incredible! Clare went out of her way to ensure my girlfriend had the best birthday of all her 73 years. From booking our stay, we had close communication with ALTO Beyond; everything was thought of, from dietary requirements to special occasions and activities. We had our evening restaurant arrangements made and when we arrived we were bowled over by the luxurious dwelling. ALTO Beyond is truly astonishing and the hospitality is second to none. Nothing was left out, we even had a choice of pillows. The place was spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much. Even my car got a cleaning. Thanks Alvin and Nivin! Shirley made sure we had service with a smile and Clare was always on hand to keep us fed and watered and to ensure we had the best weekend.

That we had to leave the place..

Loved it from the moment we arrived, as the Claire, Alvin and Nevin waited for us at the entrance and secured a parking for us. The facilities are amazing, a hidden piece of paradise on earth. They made it an exceptional stay for us - thank you so much. We had an amazing breakfast every day, drinks when desired/needed and fresh food of all sorts when hungry. Claire prepared amazing lunches to go for us on our diving/snorkeling trips, there was never anything missing and even more than we could imagine to bring ourselves. It was nice and peaceful and we will definitely come back to Alto Beyond when staying in Gozo!!

Everything was perfect . We spent 5 glorious days with Clare and her staff and her beautiful bespoke accommodation. Hospitality was BEYOND exception and her staff worked so diligent and professional and help Clare cater to our needs whether food, drinks and nibbles by the pool which filled with inflatable friends .Our room was very comfortable and had a oriental theme with adbuncey of pillows and air conditioning plus 2 ceiling fans and a spacious walk in shower with twin hand basin with his and her dressing gowns ,slippers 100% cotton . Personnel touches available Spa room , cinema room and a communal sitting room for relaxation and meeting other guest fully air conditioning. Alvin and Nivin thanks for everything. This is a hidden gem in this lovely town Xaghra. In conclusion if you want head space ,timeout a place to relax and unwind in a very peaceful setting this is for you ADULTS ONLY . Clare you are enclopida of knowledge . Gracious lady and we really enjoyed your beautiful sanctuary.

This boutique hotel is a true hidden gem, surrounded by lush trees and an enchanting garden bursting with vibrant flowers. It offers a serene and peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The pool area is delightful, providing a refreshing oasis perfect for relaxation. Our dog loved exploring the beautiful grounds, and we appreciated the pet-friendly atmosphere. The highlight of our stay was the wonderful owner, Claire. She is an exceptional host, always there to support us with a warm smile and kind demeanor. Claire's insider tips on exploring Gozo Island, known only to locals, made our trip even more memorable. Everything was just perfect. The breakfast which we had in the garden under palm trees was extraordinary, the room was spacious and furnished à la Chinoisérie and Claire was always available when we needed, for instance, a table reservation or another aperitif.

I can truthfully say nothing… hard as I might try…

The best holiday accommodation we have ever had! The trick with Alto is that they anticipate everything and everything is delivered and presented in the most perfect way. Claire’s hosting and cooking is unrivalled from Campari cocktails to homemade ice cream.Claire arranged private yoga for us on the tennis court which I can highly recommend if you want to come away refreshed in both body and mind.

We knew when we chose to stay at Alto we were in for a weekend of luxury but we did not expect our expectations to be exceeded as much as they were. Without going into to much detail the Host (Claire) and her staff (RAJ) could not have been more attentive to our needs and our situation. Not only do they have a great eye for detail but they also understand that every guest who stays there requires a different level or treatment and relaxation. The property is without doubt one of the most beautiful places on Gozo and the level of luxury would rival any 5 star hotel on the island. You are instantly made to feel at home, and there is no better place to relax than the wonderful gardens at Alto. We will not think twice about returning back to this wonderful property. If you are looking for somewhere to travel with your beloved pet, this is the luxury retreat for them. The house is split perfectly to ensure your pet will have his own space to roam around and if they are lucky enough he can spend a few hours playing with the beloved 3 beagles at the property. Theres so many pros to this place, but we will leave it you to to experience. Thankyou ALTO! J&F

Nothing - everything was perfect

We had an exceptional and very relaxing stay at Alto Beyond. Everything was perfect, Claire is an amazing host, very careful and making sure that everything runs smoothly. The house is very nicely decorated and the breakfasts are amazing ! Her staff are very friendly too and she gave us lots of good advices about daily excursions, event driving us around to make sure we could see the best parts of the island. The location is perfect, 10' from the piazza & restaurant and the short walk to Ramla beach across the country side to enjoy a bit of sunshine was also very nice. and the restaurant Claire recommanded were also very good. So in the end the only thing we did not manage to do was to improve our tennis skills despite trying, so we reverted back to sipping a glass of rosé by the pool. We would highly recommend Alto Beyond to anybody looking for a nice and relaxing stay in Gozo.
