Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryUnfortunately, a few young people (including Ukrainians) moved out to the pool. They were loud, turned up the music on speakers and made offensive comments about gays. I wrote a message to the reception, and after 5 minutes they informed them of this. The commotion spread. Then a Romanian arrived in the evening and continued to argue loudly with the Ukrainian for hours in the 10-bed room. This morning, the two of them started joking again before leaving. So unfortunately I could not enjoy either the pool or the peace of the room. The breakfast was adequate.
Nice environment. With a patron, a large lounge, and a panoramic view of the sea.

PolandBreakfast is always the same: eggs, 3 types of cereals with yoghurt/milk, toast bread with chesse/ham/jam. It was alright but just got bored after 3rd night. Especially toilets felt old, could use some renovation. No drink or food in room, but there wasn't any (that I am aware of) type of kitchen for guest to eat.
Next to the Balluta Bay, very close to bus stops (Balluta or Mrabet, you can go every direction from there). There's pool and nice orange garden. Everyone has locked cabinet under bed, and full coverage. Rooms are BIG. Nice views. Supermarket and cafes also close. Can rent plug, towel, dryer etc. at reception. Good price for that service.

United StatesThere is absolutely 0 control over noise or “quite time”. On a week day a full blown party was going on, with super loud music and super drunk loud people. Of course it’s an hostel, I have seen many in my life, but it was too much: people screaming on top of their lungs, loud cheap music, people slamming the room door constantly, using it as their private bathroom even if not staying in it. Party hostel are fun, but even those have common rules enforced. At 7am some worker from the hostel started hammering nails like it was 12pm. Noise paradise.
Beautiful property, very central, spacious common area, breakfast included

SwedenPRICE HERE NOW ALMOST DOUBLED COMPARED TO BEFORE! New owner? Tring to make more money? In short, still "ok" here but free breakfast not like before. Wifi in the room not working anymore. In short: sad to see the change, all about money now. Better options around. I did no extend my monthly stay. An idea: make the price here more like it was before (when there was also more guests) and I will gladly come back. Hard rain outside, place was locked at 4 pm, why? Had to wait for two minutes, before the guy opened, saying he had to eat. Sorry, just so weird. Nothing like before. "Boutique hostel". New sign inviting you to coffee/tea. Small sign says, just pay one euro and you will get two tea bags. A joke? Probably- and still hope to - see you in the future...(?)
Important to know: same place called "Inhawi" before. Much more affordable back then. Location still the same (can t change that). Still cleaning absolutely perfect, also some old, staff (Emelie), please keep her!

GermanyThe night staff insulted me after I shied away from directly confronting an un-chaperoned group of teenage boys. He told me my age (40) wasn't meant for a hostel and wanted me to go with him to reprimand them when they were drinking and blasting music at 1am. It's not my job to babysit anyone when I'm a guest at a hostel.... Also, there were two groups of teenagers (45 in total I was told). They all dominated the pool area and dining area and did not mingle with any other traveler. It felt very alienating.
I liked the location, the opportunity to cook and store my own food in Tupperware and a refrigerator, the chance to use the pool.

Julian .. beside you you have everything .. you can walk beside the beach .. even you can go to Sliema You can meet and talk to many people as it always full and has a nice mood

United KingdomAfter staying in loads of hostels, this hostel just had an odd vibe about it. Staff weren’t welcoming or even friendly really, I was in an 8 bed female dorm and it was filthy. The bathroom and shower was actually disgusting and there was stuff everywhere and our air con unit really struggled (after I had to ask at reception for it to be turned on)
The location was good, and the breakfast was solid. Having the pool there was nice for the end of a long day.

SpainPeople who think they are superior to you, the hostel has nothing to do with a hostel, this is A SECT. First of all, the rudest girl with crossed eyes cannot exist, then the two boys who guard the entrance are other clowns who only want to make excuses and do not solve anything for you, apart from that they can mess with you and make you stay there to listen to the concert of chickens that starts at 5 and will not stop until you take a strong pill and also if they feel like it they will take your food from the fridge just like in a PRISON, IN ANY CASE STAY AWAY FROM INHAWI BECAUSE THE ONLY THING THEY WILL DO IS INHAWIK TA RASS
The only thing I liked was when they gave me my money back and thanks to the older woman and the Valencian boy because if it were up to the other workers you would have died of disgust.

United KingdomCons: The hostel lacked social atmosphere. While the girls in my room were lovely, there were no social activities for guests and no trips organised, so I didn't get the benefit of staying in a hostel to meet people. The information at reception didn't include walking tours or boat tours, so guests would need to be comfortable finding out about these under their own steam. The TV room was set up with tables and chairs and three bean bags - not particularly suited to watching TV (I didn't see it on once while I was there) or relaxing indoors, meaning the hostel lacked a cool indoor lounge area. The kitchen only had one sink and four hob rings - as the hostel sleeps 130 people this means the kitchen can become very busy and cooking can become very time-consuming. The pool area did not have any showers or changing facilities - I didn't see anyone follow guidance to shower before using the pool as this would have meant a soggy walk from guests' rooms to the poolside. In the room itself I had a lower bunk but the privacy curtain didn't wrap around the ladder going to the top bunk, so it wasn't fully private and let light in. My sheets were freshly laundered but there was a green stain on them and when I asked for a sheet change the receptionist advised they only usually do that once a week and I had to press a little to have them changed. I asked for a second pillow (as I was getting shoulder and neck pain from sleeping on one thin pillow) and the response was "Everyone gets one pillow." I understand profit margins must be slim but reception needs to be more joined up with laundry to have some additional items on request. The air conditioning unit was temperamental (separate to the power cuts affecting Malta) - one night it would not turn up or off, and we were too cold. The air conditioning was also noisy (a metallic clank every 30 seconds or so) which kept me awake despite using earplugs.
Pros: As a solo female traveller, the hostel felt safe and secure due to the use of a key card to enter the room and use of under the bed trundle lockers. To access rooms you have to walk through reception, through the TV room (which doubled as a breakfast room if wanting to eat indoors) and through the kitchen, so they are not close to the main entrance. I felt safe walking to and from the bus stops to the hostel, and walking around the local area getting groceries and dining out. The hostel breakfast included use of a coffee machine, cereals (vegan milks provided), yoghurts, fruit, cake, cold meats and cheeses, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread (with toasters to hand), as well as hot food such as sausages, bacon, scrambled egg and beans - a real selection. The layout of the hostel was lovely with a terrace for breakfast, a pool and pool terrace, and a lower garden area with two hammocks. The staff member who checked me in was friendly and showed me around. There is also plenty of information at reception on things to do in St Julian's and Valletta as well as information on the hop on hop off sightseeing tours. I stayed in a four bed dorm and in the room itself, the bed frames were stable, I had adequate access to facilities (there were two toilets and two showers) and appreciated the air conditioning. The beds had privacy curtains, a socket and lamp each, and the free WiFi was good. The price of the stay was excellent.

RomaniaI did not like the people who were in the room, also the lack of curtains on the bed, there were some but unlike other hostels these did not close completely especially for the bottom beds. The bathroom door is made of glass and albeit not transparent it still felt a bit weird to be naked in there.
It was close to everything and not very expensive, the staff was nice and you could change your towel everyday. The breakfast was alright, nothing fancy but the cake was good. They have AC in the rooms but sometimes it got a bit too cold during the night. Every morning someone came in and cleaned. They have a nice terrace outside.

ItalyThe rooms are too hot and the air conditioning is only on at night, I asked the Italian receptionists and the Brazilian guy to turn on the air conditioning since in these conditions I got a fever of 40 and they replied that it is not possible to do so. They made me stay two days under torture in a humid and hot room 50 degrees, I made a video as a demonstration of what I am saying and now that I am going home I will send the complaint to the facility,I'll take you to court, luckily I come from a family of lawyers

ItalyRoom was dirty (with one big web and a spider in the bed). Also, being it in the basement, it smelled funny at moments. A/C is off most of the day, its supposed to be working in the night but not always. Breakfast is nice but I found 3 dirty spoons.
Price is good and the location is great (quite close to all transportation and at a walking distance to both Sliema and St Julian). Good breakfast. Common areas are also nice!
