How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

there could be more option for vegetarian and vegan food options although kitchen did try their best to cater

These are all minor things, just want to provide some constructive feedback. As two smaller beds were joined together, we didn’t have one big duvet but two smaller ones which was a bit strange. Our toilet seat moved a bit and wasn’t fully secured down. The toilet roll holder was also at an angle and not fully secured down. The hairdryer worked but the nozzle couldn’t be attached to the drier as it had worn down over time.
The staff are amazing, shout out to the guy from Macedonia who gave us lots of info on the area and recommendations. Great rooftop, with lovely views. Happy hour is good too with buy one get one free on selected cocktails, which were tasty. The bed was pretty big, although this was because two smaller beds were joined together. It’s worth renting a car to explore areas outside this location and we managed to easily find parking on the nearby roads during our whole stay. Facilities were available to store luggage which was a plus.

the hotel reception area was glistening and upmarket. the room didn't quite reflect the impression of the overall hotel, but was good for what we wanted and paid up.
we liked the location. Great for if you're wanting to go to gozo. hotel was great value

The most important things are a great location, cleanliness, great staff. Hotel breakfasts - completely sufficient for a few days. Literally next to some supermarket. Very good value for money. I sincerely recommend it. Very good food in the restaurant - the prices are also ;)

The house keeping could have been better. Dirty cups weren’t replaced and bins weren’t emptied but beds were made and towels changed?

There wasn' t anything to complain about.
Practically everything. Food was very good and differs from one day to the other. The room was very large considering rooms in other hotels. Staff was v helpful.

The hotel is centrally located in Mellieha, just a 2-minute walk from public transportation, making it easy to reach all the major attractions in Malta. We were upgraded to a room with a breathtaking view, and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive—when my son fell ill during our stay, they checked in several times to see how he was doing. We’ll definitely return to Solana Hotel if we come back to Malta.

We didn't try all the spa facilities but they have a lot to choose from, also a sauna and indoor poor. Great rooftop pools with amazing panoramic views. There are bus stops just next to hotel so its easy to reach any place you want. Staff was lovely and helpful. Absolutely worth it!

Smell in the room - firstly we came - air refreshener was smelling (not the best), later some other smell - maybe somebody smoked some time ago inside, or it was from walls - I was not able to identify. Whole 3 days entering the room from from other places - them smell was inside. Breakfast room - no space to sit, because a lot of non taken tables from before eaten or some big tables with Reserved cards. Personnel should work better and faster to clean tables.
Clean spacious room and bathroom. View from the roof pools, indoor po, sauna - great to use if weather not the best. Rich breakfast buffet. Good location, few steps from bus stop and restaurants

Everything was great! Honestly We couldn't find a better place to stay in Mellieha. Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were clear and modern, view from balcony very nice. Top floor with pools was the best!!! Tasty breakfast and great location. I will recommend my friends this place :)
