Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canada- fruit juices were VERY watered down; to the point of being undrinkable - music in dinning areas (except Spanish restaurant) were horribly outdated (and I am +50-y old) - very limited English TV program (HBO bundle, Fox News & CNN). Other news channels desperately lacking eg BBC, EuroNews in English or French, and any other American channels would have been welcome !
- overall, the food and amenities were great :-) - the staff was excellent !

United StatesThe food was a real let down. The breakfast buffet was fine, but save for that - I thought it was quite bad. Even the restaurants that you reserve when you check in were less than I had hoped for. We had VIP badges and - other than the booze - the VIP lounge offerings were less than I'd hoped for.
The property is located in an absolutely lovely area close to Puerto Vallarta, but far enough away that you feel like you're off the beaten track in the jungle. It's tucked in a little cove right near a sleepy little town. Compared to the other all-inclusives in PV, this one has the best location. The others are all packed together near the airport. The pools are lovely and all the rooms have sea views.

United StatesMy family and I booked the Premium Suite which came with a flyer that described what our suite comes with. Among the things it stated in one sentence that a Premium Suite guest is allowed to check out at 2pm from the resort. On the last day of our stay we went out for lunch came back to the hotel room around 1:30pm and our room key access was deactivated not allowing us to enter the room. We then had to go to the lobby where we were hit with the front desks attitude, correcting us that we needed to be checked out by 11am but could stay in the hotel until 2pm. Which was not stated on the flyer. We felt the attitude given, rushed to gather our things from the hotel room, as if our stay was meaningless. On another note, some of the staff were not as welcoming as others, not smiling or giving attitude. This particularly happened with some waiters/waitresses, and the convivence store clerk.
The hotel is located on the edge of the tropical forest, with a private beach front. The sun sets on the beach front. The hotel rooms have multiple levels that overlook the pool and beach front. The hotel is an all inclusive hotel and has 3 restaurants on premises. There is also easy access to the beach that connects from the hotel pool area. When you travel to town from the hotel the locals are very nice and very helpful if you need guidance or assistance. The prices are cheap when you want to buy from a local convenience store. Uber also exists within the city, so you can request for an Uber to and from the hotel and to the city with no issues. I know that in the US some Uber drivers have an issue to drive passengers far from specific locations.

United StatesThe food needs work, all of it was pretty flavorless. That the only open bar near the pool was in the pool on the kids side, the high cost of key replacements- we were so afraid to lose anything(which I know is the point, but still.), that you couldnt make more than 1 dinner reservation during your stay.
The easy access to the beach, the large rooms& balcony, great staff , well organized, spacious hotel, great ambiance and atmosphere, safe & secure

CanadaThe food in the buffet and drinks were completely fine, but could have been better. The a la carte in the Spanish restaurant was excellent.
Location and facilities were great. Great pool, excellent entertainment. The best part of my trip was a boat and beach hop excursion with Tony. Highly recommend. You can find him on the beach. Just ask around on the beach and you will find him.

United StatesNumber one, men require pants to go into the themed restaurants. Also, depending on the number of nights you are staying, it will determine how many reservations you can make. All this wasn't disclosed in the hotel's website. The food at the buffet restaurant is good just not so impressive. Overall the food is good, but don't expect high level gourmet cuisine.
The property is located about 45min away from PV so either you spend all your time in the property or travel to PV, I recommend taxi. The hotel is nice, not like a big high class resort but it is nice and people do their best to give you a good service. The best thing is that the beach is almost exclusive for the hotel and you have a great view of the jungle.

CanadaThe buffet was best at breakfast but not so great for dinner. The Los Arcos and Japanese Kyoto were rather poor. Strange for Los Arcos, it's a snack bar/, restaurant and excellent.
OMG, the setting is truly hard to beat, a beautiful protected cove fringed with beautiful sand and incredibly beautiful tourquoise sea to enjoy. In terms of the staff all were very helpful and did their best to make sure you had what you needed. In particular the staff at reception were exceptional and would like to thank Cassandra for going out her way for me. As well, Gabriela, Lucy, and Ramon were very friendly and helpful. The reception manager Claudia is a great asset to the hotel.

United StatesThe food: it was hit or miss each day. It wasn’t warm and we ended up being sick a couple of days. Be warned of the sushi. Make sure you make dinner reservations otherwise you’re stuck at the buffet. No transportation to and from the airport. No shuttles to get you around town. Expect to pay $30 round trip each day in taxi fares.
The location was awesome. It was secluded a little bit south of Puerto Vallarta. The beach was quiet and the rooms were spread out with space. If you plan on doing a lot of activities in town each day, Barcelo is not the place for you. The pools were awesome. Lots of places to sit and find a spot. I also loved that each room has a patio.
