Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt’s just a little out of main busy road, yet there are plenty of restaurants at walking distance and the advantage to be in a quieter area.
Really welcoming and friendly people. A small hotel kept with love and lots of details. Beautiful lush garden, lots of privacy and all you need for the room and the pool. They kindly changed my dates, stored my bag, helped me with travel arrangements and useful tips around Tulum. Rooms are spacious, beds are good, showers hot. Coffee maker in the room and hot/cold water refill available. Really, a great choice!

SwedenAbsolutely beautiful place, a lush oasis which is so colourful and well-kept. The room was spacious and very comfortable and the breakfast was well worth the extra cost. The owners are also really lovely and helpful! We actually extended our stay by one night and would definitely stay here again

CanadaAn option of slimmer softer pillows would be nice. The pillows are very bulky.
Excellent breakfast with scrambled eggs, fresh bread, cake, fresh fruit salad, coffee etc. Good rooms with decent beds, aircon, small kitchenette with good sized fridge, microwave and single cook plate. Very nice pool and lounge area in pretty gardens well off the main drag and peaceful. Rental bike locations with five to ten minutes walk. 12 min walk to ADO bus station.

FranceThe owner is french - like us, it was really nice talking with him. He gave us a map our the recommended restaurants and cenotes nearby. They had some cats, lovely dogs, and even an opossum ? The swimming pool was really nice, we took a lot of bathes in it and were always alone. And the breakfast was also really good.

SwitzerlandHmm... I couldn't figure out the coffee maker in the room but I never got around asking about it. No complaints at all.
Should be called Don Diego de los Pájaros! I did my birdwatching with a cup of coffee at the pool. Imagine a collared aracari in this green oasis in a busy part of Tulum. Hosts were very nice and helpful, for instance with their maps of their favorite restaurants and the best attractions. Breakfast under the thatched roof is wonderful.

NetherlandsThere were a lot of leaves etc in the pool. I still enjoyed it, but would've preferred it to be cleaner. The staff is friendly enough, but not as welcoming and forthcoming as I've experienced in other places in Mexico.
It's a beautiful setting with a garden-jungle feeling. I had my own little terrace and hammock which was amazing. Spacious and comfortable room and shower, big bed. Also a fridge and coffee facilities. The breakfast buffet is fantastic.

SpainThere was nothing I didn't like!!
I loved the property and the staff. Wifi was very good and no problems connecting up to do some work. The room and bath room were great as was the swimming pool. It was a quiet area but within 5 mind walk to the main street. Charles was a wonderful host and the lad at the front desk was very helpful in arranging a couple of tours for me.

United StatesMy only complaints if I had to think of any are that the bed was a little firm for my liking and would benefit from a 3 inch memory foam topper and I think that there should be a more prominent divider between guest patios for a bit more privacy.
Casa Don Diego was a wonderful little oasis in close enough proximity to the main central business center for us to walk but not right in the middle of everything whereas we were subject to late night partying etc and traffic if we did not want to be part of it. The daily breakfast that was included with our was served late enough for us to not feel rushed every morning and it offered unique dishes and enough variety that we felt satisfied as our first meal. The overall feel of Casa Don Diego was of a small tropical urban homestead retreat. The property was well-maintained and just lovely.

United StatesBut Booking map sent me in the opposite direction, and there was a taxi strike so I had to walk with my luggage. No matter that I had the address from Charlie’s email, the map app keep insisting it was Hostel de Sombrero! Very frustrating.
The casa was very cozy and nice

United KingdomThis is only a very tiny negative...it felt quite a long walk in the heat with luggage from the bus station and if you want to go to the beach it's not difficult, but you do need to take a taxi or colectivo if you don't have a car. It wasn't a problem though!
Wonderful oasis of calm. Rooms extremely well equipped and comfortable. Pool area was lovely and quiet and the garden was lovely and tropical. Breakfast was very good. All staff and the owner were very helpful and friendly. Would not hesitate to book again if in Tulum. It was the perfect place to stay especially if you don't like big, corporate hotels.
