Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoWell, it’s not per se a hotel, it was a shopping centre now renovated so it doesn’t give the Cancun hotel vibes, tacky decorations, very humid/warm in the building, maybe it’s worth spending a little bit more for something better
Clean, good location few minutes walk from the hotel zone and a big supermarket, friendly staff, spacious room and bathroom

Indiawe went there with no expectations as the reviews online were bad but the location was ideal for us. The staff was friendly. We got a room on the 3rd flood with PRADA theme and it was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. It is a short walk to the hotel zone nightclubs. There is free parking in the front. The front wall of the room is translucent glass but covered with black out thick curtain. We couldn't hear anyone from next door but may also have spent minimal time in the room.

Netherlands‘Essenzia’ is no where to be found, no signs or name tag outside so really difficult to find. Apparently the hotel is part of Mayfair. A bit of a strange building, seems to be an old office. No WiFi connection in the room and our room, including towels, were not clean.
Good location for us, within walking distance of restaurants/area to go out. Spacious room

United StatesThe building is under construction so sometimes I would hear it but for the most part it wasn’t a problem. This build has a lot of cool architecture and potential.
The staff is young, helpful and a joy to interact with. Service for the food was a little slow but I enjoyed the meals provided. The bed was comfortable and so thankful for air conditioning.

United Kingdomno window in the room so no concept of day/night. the rooms are inside an old shopping mall so one wall is basically a thin partition (which used to be the door to a shop) which was a bit odd and didn’t feel very secure.
Great AC and WiFi worked well. Good location whilst being peaceful inside. staff were really helpful.

CanadaExtremely weird hotel! First floor of an old mall was turned into a hotel. You hear everything!!! what’s happening in the large hallway, light is not fully blocked by a curtain, no windows in the room (technically there is one but it is blocked). No sign with hotel name outside, there is a sign for Mayafair Design Boutique Hotel, which must be the same hotel (old name? or two hotels under the same roof?). Very mixed feelings about it.
everything inside the room was in decent shape, fairly new furniture, room was spacious. Near the big party places, supermarket Chedraui, and public access to a few beaches.

Canadawe were mislead by Booking.com's 6.5 rating and 3-star hotel rating. it was quite bad that we decided not to stay the night. The hot water didn't work even for leaving the tap on for 5-10 mins. weak water pressure on the 3rd floor. The whole place was literally an abandon strip mall/ medical office layout, great creativity to re-purpose the suites into hotel rooms, except the building itself was leaking and dark which feel like an abandon building and you are living in a shelter. Price is acceptable for the location but adding all those issues, really, not worth $250 for the night.
The location, we were stuck after the flash flood that closed the main road out of the Hotel Zone, we couldn't get an uber or taxi to take us back. We resorted to booking last minute rooms as we had young kids and we were on our feet the whole day. Good is the location which was within walking distance in the hotel zone. Nice staff at checkin. The rooms we got do reflect the photo we saw on the website, however, there's a lot of hard-water stains if you look closely in the shower.

United StatesOne thing that can improve... the breakfast that we paid extra for when we booked the room was not much. It was toast, juice and coffee. We even waited to see if they were bringing out an egg or oatmeal.or something, but that was all. But still an amazing experience overall!
This place is beautiful and very unique! The room was larger than usual. One block from the beach. So much better than a typical hotel. Just needs a pool!

ItalyThe on-line pictures in the booking system do not correspond to the real truth. The rooms were big, but they were very poorly decorated and the furniture looked like it came from the shops that were there before. In addition, many electrical cables were uncovered or dangled from the floor above. I personally changed two rooms because the door would not close, but many guests had the same problem. A colleague of mine had an entrance at night of a person who had the wrong room. No windows were present in my room and in those of other colleagues The hotel is an old shopping centre/mall and the rooms are converted from shops. It is like being in an aquarium The lobby/center hall of the hotel was without air-conditioning and there was furniture or old kitchens, and non-functioning escalators from the former shopping centre. The stairs were very dirty and the outside stairs were full of pigeon faeces. This hotel could participate in a TV contest entitled ' Living Nightmare Hotel'.
